really nice! might need to upgrade my v500 with shots like that.. great result

Steveo, I feel your pain!

I had the same problem with b,stard spool and changing bag, with the whole film off the reel at several times and a major paddy! :'( :eek:

Here is the original scan of what would have been a nice shot across to Arundel castle with two balloons just taking off........

More Kodak BW400CN, but with a Mamiya M645 1000S this time,* with a 55mm f/2.8 Sekor 'C' lens.

Sadly it's discontinued in 120 format, but I got my hands on a box of five expired rolls recently and this is the first one I've got to use.

Delightful shot, I use a V500 and have no problems with it, some decry them but to me they are very good scanners.

Well exposed shot in difficult conditions, so many different lights to take into account, well done!

Consistently producing great stuff Rob! Loving what your doing with the BW400CN Kodak film - are you home dev'ing it? How much PP you doing? Lovely and contrasty

Thanks. Yes, just round the corner.

I'll admit there's a bit of dodging and burning in PS. It's rather flatter straight out of the scanner (although I tend to scan to a RAW file which leaves out any processing by the scanner software). The kind of thing I would do with a print is how I figure it.

Yep. It's a feature of the Pro edition of Vuescan to save to a DNG file.

I open the file in Lightroom (or Adobe Camera RAW) and use all the tools I usually do with native digital RAW images.

I took my time to set things up to make my ideal show
I waited extra patiently and checked and checked again
It all looked super spiffing and along then came the train
I pushed the cord, the shutter clicked, the picture had been caught
I couldn't wait, the processing, it would be 'great,' I thought
I opened up the process drum I couldn't wait to see
I had not installed the film holder where it ought to be
Light had buggered up my image, oh my, what to do?
I'll learn from this and try again, I'll go and have a brew.

Shame about the result but as you say you will learn from this...we never stop learning no matter how long we've been shooting!

Nice location and a smashing subject to go shoot...hopefully you will get another chance soon.

Nope, this was the shot 45 minutes before the Pannier Tank one I posted yesterday, I thought something was wrong when I took it but I couldn't work out what. It was a brand new film holder and I somehow managed to push it past the actual light sealing spot which then allowed some light to pass. I have managed to do it again as a trial at home and now know what to be careful of.

Still another lesson learnt, the HP5+ will be here in the morning and if the weather isn't too bad I'll go and have another go.

Pleased with the focus though, I got it to go straight down the nearside line :thumbs:

You're only human Ed....well at least we believe you are!!!! :thinking:

At least now you're aware of it although i know from personal experience of fouling a shot even when ive known the "faults" of the gear i'm using......inability to remember comes to us all with age!:D
 
Yes, as we get older we become more orgetful of recent things yet reminisce about things from years previous.

Is that film the Acros 100 a 100 ISO film? if so that I am suprised at the amout of grain I can see :thinking:

Nick, yes there is a lot of grain but that is because I ran them through Topaz Black and White and I felt a little extra grain worked. The originals are much finer grained and I shall probably do a version without the grain later.

By the way I'm loving those Pentax shots.

I was going to say that they didn't look like acros shots! Contrast and grain added, makes it look more like kentmere 100! ;)
 
That car has really got me beat. The recessed headlights, the bumper design and the chrome stripe all suggest a MGB with a modded bonnet. Arguing against that, the quarter lights don't look quite right, the wing mirrors seem in the wrong place, and it should have wire wheels not hub caps (I don't think that would be an obvious mod given the different hubs of wire wheels)!

I've tried everything I can think of: MG Midget, Austin Healey Sprite (my first car was a Mk 2... the one without the bug eyes but with no external door handles!), Jensen Healey, Ginetta (I used to have a G15), various Triumphs, Lotus, etc etc.

I think it's a chimaera!

Ah... I see it's been discovered! Definitely a Ford Chimaera, then. :naughty:

One and three are superb, Acros 100 is a film I don't seem to have much luck with.

These are from sensia 200 film from the CCimaging offer a while back. Digital processing on them is minimal as my computer isn't working so I'm on a borrowed laptop (but then I'm sure most people here prefer minimal digital processing anyway :))

Taken with a Pentax MX and 50mm f/1.7 SMC or Cosina 24mm f/2.8. I've probably got some more to post from this roll, but even basic necessary processing like contrast tweaks are a pain using microsoft picture manager :gag:, so it might be a while :lol:.

Lovely jubbly especially 1 and 3. I really like textured surfaces like that and often take shots but I've never achieved anything as nice as this!
 
#1 has a great feel to it. When I tried Sensia in my OM10 from the CCI offer I liked the look of it, but that's when I found out she had a light leak, so none were postable (is that a word?)

Nice exposures squishy :thumbs:
