Show us yer film shots then!

Liam, that's an epic shot, I absolutely love the minimalist composition. Have you considered getting that frame drum scanned? It's worth a thought if you wanted to make big prints.

Thanks guys, Paul it was a "sunrise" meaning a 5am start but its always worth it :)

How much does drum scanning cost these days? The v500 just can't scan 35mm :(

Well I finally finished off and had dev'd a roll of Fuji Superia 200 which I ran through a Voigtlander VF101 that I bought from Ujjwal a few weeks ago.
I had them dev'd at Club35 and also had the high res disc. To say I'm pleased with the results is an understatement, the colour and sharpness from this combination is marvelous. I admit I was a little concerned when I recieved the camera as it didn't look much but I was assured that images it produced were excellent and so they are.

The first 3 are St Leanord's Church in Warmingham, Cheshire

Thanks for looking

Its a Tessar Andy; one of the best lens man has ever designed (obviously, apart from Sonnar 50/1.5 on a Contax RF mount. Its rumoured that the calculations required to design Sonnar 50/1.5 - no calculators then - filled up a whole room).
Good to see you enjoying it Andy.

Very nice Javier, love the 1st one, a US version of fish and chips.

Oh yes, definitely going to take it out more, the prints are even better than the scans. I was stunned when I opened the pack and saw how good they were, new film loaded and out tomorrow with it.

This was my first outing with a newly acquired S2 loaded with Centuria 200Asa. Your veiws of the camera,s performance would be most welcome.

That legacy pro looks sharp and with little noise. Do you have the links to a full size version? I am thinking of getting some myself!

I haven't at the moment Jim as I only uploaded the low res versions to Flipckr. I'm off out now but I'll upload a high res version tonight and post the link. Have to say I'm impressed with it so far seems to have a lovely tonal quality and low grain.

I look forward to them! Thanks so much.

I bought half a dozen rolls of the 100 to try it out, and haven't shot any other black and white since. Just wish that Silverfast SE had a profile for it, as I'm getting nice results, but I'm sure that I could get even more out of it. Lovely and smooth though - and if I ever geet my backside out there shooting again, I guess I'll need to buy another pack :)

Thanks for that. Looks like its worth a purchase. My only wish for silverfast is that they would redesign it so that its not like trying to park a range rover in a small parking space backwards whilst blindfolded!

Unfortunately drum scanning is exceptionally expensive with pricing determined by file size. You can pay from £40 to £60 at Primary Colour or £35 to £90 at Metro Imaging. As I've used neither previously I don't know if they are any good however I do know that there's supposed to be nothing like a drum scan from an experienced technician. Alternatively there is a place called London Displays but I couldn't find a price list.

Lovely mate, thanks! I will be getting some. I hope its easy to soup up yourself. Did you do the scans?

No, all done by Club35 afraid I'm not yet at the 'souping' stage.

I have only done it once (this time round anyway- I used to 'help' my dad when I was about 5!) and am just scanning in the results. I will stick some up when I finally get this lot sorted!

There's no real wierd things with LegacyPro100/Fuji Acros - just follow the timings in the massive dev chart - though iirc, they recommend you expose the film as 80iso rather than 100. Worked nicely with Ilfosol 3,1+14.

I seem to remember a bit of purple tinge to the post-fix rinse water (I do the ilford 5,10,20 inversion routine rather than running water, as the water temperature here varies wildly...) so I gave it an extra 20 inversion rinse before final dip in water/wetting agent (okay-drop of ecover!)

Here are a few from my first ever self developed film! Hp5+ through my OM2 SP.

Any tips gratefully recieved! The rest are on my flickr.

I'm no expert Jim but they look pretty good to me for a first attempt. My only thought is that they might need a tiny bit more contrast but I wouldn't have a clue how to achieve that in the processing.

Andy

Thanks Andy. I think the main contrast problem may have been available light and a lazy photographer not moving enough. Or being dragged along by the family!

Nothing that couldn't be sorted with an orange filter on the lens, though tbh I'd have been happy enough with those shots out of the camera. You can always give 'em a tweak in the digital later. If scanning, I'm beginning to realise, it's sometimes more important to shoot within the contrast range the scanner will cope with, get as much information out of the neg as possible, then optimise the shot at the darkroom (lightroom/cs5) stage...

These were actually scanned in as is and then I imported the tifs into lightroom and sharpened. I actually need to spend a little time fiddling with them. I have not touched them otherwise. I will see about a screw in filter for the olly, thanks!

Literally only need a quick s-curve adjustment for the contrast and job's a good 'un - honest :)

Okay - you can spend hours with dodge and burn on some shots, but for the one's you posted - maybe a quick strike of the adjustment brush over the skys to get a little definition into the clouds, and they're sound.

The colour ones are either on Fuji Astia 100F or time expired Fujicolor 400NPH. I'm still struggling with getting the colour right on my scans.

The B&Ws are on Ilford Pan Plus50.

Paul

Lovely series. The last one has the look of a 60's promo shot for an actress, really excellent.

Some from earlier this year at the VSCC racing. All Ilford 400 set to 200 all taken on Nikon F3 or F4 and some lens.
