Joxby and Big Yin yep your right taken in Whitby a couple of weeks ago.

"Subtle self-portrait...."? Now that gives me an idea for a theme :D

@Javier that yacht looks like an expensive fix

I was going through the 6 rolls of Velvia 100F. I realised that when I got the exposure right, the colours came out fantastic. But a slight underexposure; and all hell breaks loose.

Here are some scans - as usual the scans are rubbish; the actual slides have more vivid colour and more details are held. Somehow the scanner obliterates either the sky or foreground; and the sharpness is gone.

The scanner has somehow cropped the first one, turning it into a square format. I might have put the slide the wrong way or something...

First time out with Velvia last year for me, what do you think?

Really like this one

Welcome to the forum and another F4 user

A few from the Rollei 35 processed last night. Rollei Retro 400, ID-11, messed a wee bit for toning is all... I think it's suitable for these

I think I have had it with these one hour labs....I decided to have Walgrens process and scan my last roll of film and what they gave me back was total garbage!....I was beginning to think the metering was off, or I needed new seals, or the lens was junk and yada yada yada.......

Walgrens scans

My two minute scans on its lowest resolution all set to neutral.

Sorry, just venting.

Wow, considering Velvia is already prone to blocking up the shadow areas you'd have to be a lunatic to clip the shadows like your lab did (and aggressively too!). Really like the second one.

This was the first reel of film through Nikon F601 that I acquired last week, taken with Konica Centuria 200 Asa. The first three are from the Ashdown forest and the last three from Darland Banks.

I was waiting with the camera for around 5 minutes for someone to walk into the frame and stand still. I'm glad it was her

She had a go with the Mamiya.. already better than me

Overall really loving this Delta 100. Great tonal range, and less grainy than FP4 (although a lot less forgiving).

A really nice set and surprising to see you using Centuria as I thought it was no longer made

You are right, all my stock is dated November 2006.:) and Thanks for the comment.

Rick, That is a great set of street work, I just adore the light in #4.

Rick, great shots. Just wondering, dont people give you a nasty stare when they realise you are snapping them. Do you do it very quickly, or dont they realise what you are doing? I can never pick up the courage to do this...especially given the sensitivity around these sort of thing these days

Thanks Richard, I actually intended to comment on your pics (but forgot after formatting), love number 5 and especially 6. 24mm is definitely the best focal length IMO. Is that the small f2.8 AF sigma one? I was thinking of getting one for my canon film camera.

Thanks Ujjwal. I guess that's a good aspect of using a TLR. You're looking down through the waist level finder, and because it's an old camera some people feel excited getting their picture taken with one. With the old man, I didn't want him to see me take his picture, so I composed it a slowly turned until he was in the frame then fired the shutter. Just be confident, if you want to get a head-shot of someone, ask them. Usually they will be OK with it : )

What's the sketch Richard, with the scan/process ?
Nothing wrong with the subjects or the shots themselves but I don't think you're getting the best out of the processing.
They are very very very over sharpened, its a shame, who's processing them, why are they so over sharpened, is there a problem with camera focus, is there a problem with the scanner that doesn't scan sharp, is there a problem with compression....I dunno but it needs a sort out....

Yes, It,s the f2.8 24mm super wide II Macro and you can get some good prices in Canon fit, Nikon fit is very expensive when you find them.

John, If you mean what was the process, well had them developed and scanned to CD, I open in CS5 and made slight adjustment to the Tone and contrast and sharpened about 10%. The problem maybe when I download to photobucket and what their process does automatically. I will post one of the shot out straight off CD and tell me what you think.
Richard.

Resize only from CD.

lets have a look at the log one...

There you go, I hope you can give me some advice, so that I can improve them.

well, its definitely better, it still looks on the threshold of acceptable on the sharpening front I think.
you can't add any more to that particular picture, it has too many fragments.
I'm no expert but fields of barley corn and shots with that type of small but numerous detail are best sharpened with care.
also a small file gets over sharpened really quick.

Thanks for that John:thumbs:

Thanks Ujjwal. .... Just be confident :)

You must be right, its all about confidence.
I could never pull it off, partly because I am shy, partly because the idea of snapping someone without his knowledge is kind of alien to me. I don't know.
I wish I could; I have to try with a AF camera. I did the other day; and the woman gave me such a nasty stare that even my wife noticed.
It must be the smile I am missing :D
My only success with a complete stranger was on Durdle door beach - the guy was sitting there painting on sea shells. I took the snap ( on a AF camera, so must be only a few secs), he looked up, smiled at me, took out his camera and snapped me back. I dont know what happened to his photo, but mine came out fantastic.
I wish I had a bit more confidence...

I was going to make a similar comment until I read this one.

@Paleblue I used to have a C330 yonks ago and looking at your images remindes me waht a fab camera it is and how sharp those images of yours are. Suppose the good thing about doing candids with it is it is so quiet, people proabable don't realise they photograph has been taken. Great set of photographs

@medwaygreen I agree with Joxby those photos of your look much better straight off the CD.

@Javier another excellent slice of life round LA. Mind you had you been at the pop n the last one? Looks like you have listed slightly

EOS850, Sigma 28mm AF Super Wide, Fujicolor 200 and Tesco Dev and CD.

I most probably will never put another roll of film through this body.

The build quality is fantastic but it is basically a Canon EOS Instamatic with no manual control whatever.

The scenery is near Beacon Fell and Kirkham, both in Lancashire.

I like the fourth one Paul but that's some weird vignetting. Looks like the aperture blades to me, though quite what they're doing in the line of sight I don't know.

can't be aperture blades imho. must be hood or fingers or something like that.

p.s. got my minlta 7000i today ! wooohooo !!!!

looks like a bayonet type petal type hood that wasn't in place fully to me, but what do I know...

It may be an autopilot type camera, but it seems to have got things pretty well nailed down

I think you're spot on about the hood being the cause. There were only a couple on the roll like that and they were from the same short session.

The hood for the Sigma is an annoyingly fiddly wee beastie :)

I have to admit to being really quite impressed by the quality of the "Instamatic" output, though I still find the basic concept of an interchangeable lens SLR with so little user control extremely odd.

I can't imagine that Canon ever sold that many of it or its sibling the 750.

I wish I had a bit more confidence...

Try shooting events like fetes, festivals, galas, protests, rallies, anywhere people are expecting photographs to be taken. People get so used to seeing cameras they're less conscious of what they're being pointed at.
A prepared line of patter helps - you're doing a series of photographs on summer festivals/protesters/traditions/whatever allays most people's fears.

This is probably one of my favorite film images I have taken, I wish I had a taken it on a larger format...
