From a photoshoot last Sunday. Shot with a Bronica SAQ, 80mm, on Provia. Developed at Peak Imaging (v.fast turnaround!)
are they o.k. for beginners ? I mean - easy to use etc ? how much mp would I get from a 120 film 6x6 or 35mm ?
thanks.
yes it's great for beginners. i scan medium format 6x6 at 4800dpi, and the one i'm looking at now is 118mp. My workplace has a v750 and the scans are infinitely better but the high price comes with that.
***Canon AV-1, FD 24mm F2.8. The last one is a 50mm F1.4 lens. Lucky 100ASA, ID-11. The scanner was out of a lucky bag.***
WoW excellent lenses, that I would like to own one day.

They are very sharp, a characteristic that doesn't come across on a twenty quid scanner that won't hold the film flat, or scan without lines it seems. Unfortunately my HP Scanjet is no longer talking to Windows, so needs must. It suffices as a form of digital contact print for now.
I'm hoping to pick up a 35mm 1.4 one of these days![]()

. It would only work if 5 people chipped in for it . as you don't need to use it every day. The scanner I bought from ebay is called a Vega Platinum. I've played around with resolution, dpi and tif and jpegs but all appear with lines like an old TV. not sure if it's a fault with my scanner or 'they all do that sir'. Being more of a B&W print type I'm not unduly exercised by its shortcomings but unfortunately it doesn't do the shots any favours over the web.Well the Epson V750 is quite good at most 35mm B/W negs, I was scanning this afternoon after testing which 2Xs extender to keep and was surprised the Kiron 2X with an ensinor 24mm gave good results...scanned at 2400 using 25year old bulk FP4:-

Should have done my homework before pressing the purchase key.
blllllooody hell it's expensive !. It would only work if 5 people chipped in for it . as you don't need to use it every day.
118mp - it's very nice ! how long does it take to scan 2 6x6 ? or how many was there in the holder ?
I presume that 35mm would be around 20mp ?

You've got to take into consideration optical resolution to find out what you're really going to get, anything higher is just interpolation (and will give you vast file sizes). I seem to remember that a test on the V700 had the optical resolution at maximum of 2400 dpi (for 35mm some have been stating that 1200 dpi is the best you're going to do).
