A day in Ibiza in August 2010..a place for the young with beautiful girls, and most men and women look so slim, fit, and healthy. Anyway a sort of day that nanny and grandad would take the grandchildren to see the castle and marina and later with the family to join in the pastime of many tourists in seeing the sun go down.
Cheated slightly for the story as some shots were on different days with Canon T70 or Konica TC..with Fuji Reala or Superia200.

Leaving the apartment

Brian, That is a fabulous picture story, I really enjoyed that. Thanks.

Thanks for enjoying my story...took 5 rolls of film all developed and scanned at Tesco (who now charge more for a CD) a bit of sharpening and a few spots cleaned up in Photoshop.....the Canon T70 is an excellent camera and far superior to a Konica TC (excellent lenses but inferior cameras in comparison).

A night shot on a tripod and the T70 did a good job with exposure (also used for the sunsets):-

I've got a 4490.

Very impressed with Kodak Ektachrome E100G. These shot were through the Xpan, scanned with the V500...

are they o.k. for beginners ? I mean - easy to use etc ? how much mp would I get from a 120 film 6x6 or 35mm ?

thanks.

I seem to be getting lines on the new scanner. Anyway, a few recent shots.

yes it's great for beginners. i scan medium format 6x6 at 4800dpi, and the one i'm looking at now is 118mp. My workplace has a v750 and the scans are infinitely better but the high price comes with that.

Just looking at the V750. It's not cheap is it? Just trying to work it out. Can you slide 4 strips of 5 images into the holder and scan 20 images at one go?

WoW excellent lenses, that I would like to own one day.

They are very sharp, a characteristic that doesn't come across on a twenty quid scanner that won't hold the film flat, or scan without lines it seems. Unfortunately my HP Scanjet is no longer talking to Windows, so needs must. It suffices as a form of digital contact print for now.
I'm hoping to pick up a 35mm 1.4 one of these days

Well the Epson V750 is quite good at most 35mm B/W negs, I was scanning this afternoon after testing which 2Xs extender to keep and was surprised the Kiron 2X with an ensinor 24mm gave good results...scanned at 2400 using 25year old bulk FP4:-

blllllooody hell it's expensive ! . It would only work if 5 people chipped in for it . as you don't need to use it every day.
118mp - it's very nice ! how long does it take to scan 2 6x6 ? or how many was there in the holder ?
I presume that 35mm would be around 20mp ?

The scanner I bought from ebay is called a Vega Platinum. I've played around with resolution, dpi and tif and jpegs but all appear with lines like an old TV. not sure if it's a fault with my scanner or 'they all do that sir'. Being more of a B&W print type I'm not unduly exercised by its shortcomings but unfortunately it doesn't do the shots any favours over the web.

Should have done my homework before pressing the purchase key.

Well I can also use my Epson 2480 bought for £8:-

As it comes scanned at 2400:-

Do you know what's worse? The director of the company that bought it has only used it about 3 times to scan in documents. It sits there on his desk gathering dust, so although he let me scan a neg once, I can never get a chance to use it. I'll have to sweet talk him next time I want to scan a roll.

I scan negatives manually one at a time to ensure I'm getting the correct final scan.. auto will crop it weirdly and the colours can be off. The 4800dpi file will take around 5 mins to scan per frame. I scanned my recent 35mm at 3600dpi, and that gave around 14mp. I find the 4490 doesn't scan slides well but is excellent at B+W.. Anyway enough rambling.. bumping with a pic

Mine will scan at 3600dpi and four quality settings. The problem is the lines remain whatever and are much clearer than grain. I have contacted the vendor and await a reply.

I scan with a Canon 8800F which I find to be perfectly fine for medium format stuff, satisfactory (but not brilliant) for 35mm stuff.

Here's a few I devved and scanned today (Fuji Acros 100 shot using a Mamiya RB67)

You've got to take into consideration optical resolution to find out what you're really going to get, anything higher is just interpolation (and will give you vast file sizes). I seem to remember that a test on the V700 had the optical resolution at maximum of 2400 dpi (for 35mm some have been stating that 1200 dpi is the best you're going to do).

Hope you like this...
