Again.... something with no real product at the end... just data. I think that's part of the problem. Photography has become something where the final product is a file you download for most people. The irony is, as more and more of us are taking images than every before, more and more of us understand photography less.
I think this is the crux of it; data, intellectual property etc has no physical substance, hence no 'value', and that influences people's perspective on the same.
Of course there is value, but how to wrap and present the product in such a way that people perceive inherent value and are prepared to pay a price.
I recently made my will. There are plenty of free templates you can download and use, yet I opted to pay a solicitor £300 for the privilege. Why? The value I drew from the transaction was piece of mind that it was all witnessed correctly and stored somewhere people might actually find it.
There is value to be created, and people will pay for it.
