Daily ShoeQueen's 365 2013

Thanks Lynn.... Its my best friends 6mth grandson so that makes it harder  Keep reminding them that I am no way close to brilliant but will do the best I can :) May even put one up as my POTD if she doesnt mind :)

its a great shot with your phone, you have captured the landscape well

Well today the snow was disrupting my plans while still being none nearby to go and photograph! Ended up driving through a blizzard then past lovely snowy fields but on motorway so couldn't stop. Managed to grab this one with the phone - not very good quality, rather boring - sorry - one of those 'have to take something' days - I guess we all have them. :(

Isn't it annoying when you drive past a wonderful view and either can't stop as there is nowhere too stop or you haven't got time. At least you managed to get some of the snow.

I really like yesterday's photo, actually - the white sky and white foreground with the row of trees centered works well for me

Yes - and it used to be I'd also be frustrated if I wouldn't have my camera with me either. Now with the iPhone I can at least get a shot - but I always seem to see the loveliest sunsets etc when on a motorway!

Thanks - most of the field was a bit uninteresting so tried this crop.

i like it, especially for a phone shot :)
Thanks - the phone isn't bad though I edited in LR as the white balance was way out.

wouldn't say its boring Lynn, nice record of a scene considering its on a phone too, think the contrast is the only issue for me.
Thanks - it was snowing at the time so decided to just go with a low contrast look - just playing with processing.

Had even more snow today - so glad I'd paid attention earlier and gone for train option instead of car - roads bad and traffic awful. So possibly another snow shot tomorrow if I can get out!

Inspired by Carol's macro of a yellow gerbera yesterday I decided to have a go tonight.

My gerbera is from the bunch I got last Tuesday so looking a wee bit bedraggled by now (and I'm not very good at putting the droplets on!) but here's my attempt.
Day 21 - Gerbera macro

I also had a go with a rose and tried a softer processing to do this little diptych.

Both very nice Lynn though I do prefer the rose for the processing.

I'm actually liking the rose best too - it looks so velvety.

Thank you for that Lynn .... You have done a great job on them both :D I use a water spray bottle from a distance to get the drops Both are lovely to me

I like both! very nice images
Thanks!

The rose and the flower shot beside it are the same processing - it's a style I seem to prefer.

I'm actually liking the rose best too - it looks so velvety.
Thanks.

The rose for me as well, I love the velvety petals.

If you have trouble with water drops, try adding a bit of glycerine to the water in the spray, it gives the drops a bit more body.
Thanks - didn't think of that.

Thanks - I was just trying drops from my fingers - not a great method!

I prefer the rose shot, the Gerbera has some marks on the petals. I also prefer the processing on the rose :)
The gerbera is looking a bit bedraggled - had them a week now - just wanted to try that style of shot.

I've added a shot of the rose which I processed a bit differently. Any other tips on how to do this style of photography? Never tried macro before.

Nice detail in those flowers. Especially the rose, love the close up and crop :)

It's lovely! Roses just lend themselves to this sort of shot I think, such intense colour and velvety petals.
Thanks - I'd never noticed how velvety they look til I tried a macro shot of one.

Lovely floral photography Lynn , like the Rose !!! my cup tea
Thanks!

Today's rose shot is lovely, good colour & texture, nice and sharp in the centre & the water drops look good as well.
Its not sharp all over though - not sure if it should be maybe?

Nice detail in those flowers. Especially the rose, love the close up and crop :)
Thanks.

OK so continuing with the floral theme - I didn't get out of the house today - and I'm making these flowers stretch out a bit longer! Will try and do something a bit different tomorrow!!

Day 22 - Love

Beautiful :) and this would make a great album cover for some of your weddings :)

Really lovely work Lynn sorry i am missing so much.. those flower shots are just beautiful and love the love... simple and elegant.. i like!

Wonderful! Great photo.
Thanks!

Thanks - I did get it as a possible wedding prop.

The flowers are wonderful   just the kind of photo that I love  and although that seems like a cheesy run in "Love" s brilliant too  perfectly captured
Thanks. Having fun trying some macro shots - back the 85mm for today's though.

Trying macro again - things are thawing in the garden so this was an attempt at capturing a droplet of thawing snow off a plant - its not quite right but its sort of the direction I wanted today's shot to go.

Day 23 - Thaw

gorgeous again and love the reflection in the water droplet :)

Beautiful! I don't have the eye (nor the kit  ) for a shot like this; I really like them!

Thanks. It's a borrowed macro lens that I've never really used - seeing Carol's macro shots made me dig it out and give it a go. The DOF is really shallow though so I need some practice with it I think!

Oh, today's is nice Lynn, like that a lot. I was looking at macro lens last night but nothing purchased yet. Great reflection in the water droplet.

wow some stunning floral macros ...you have captured the essence of each flower beautifully

I love all of the ones with the flowers, Lynn - you'll have to recycle your 'Love' one for Valentine's Day! :) The second rose was gorgeous. Today's water droplet is also great!

Thanks - there were a couple of droplets I could have used but wanted one that was hanging, not sitting on the leaf as it had more variety behind it and showed up better. I was hoping it wouldn't fall before I got the shot!

Thanks. I'm using the Sigma 105 macro - a friend lent it to me ages ago as she never really used it. I'd never tried it before apart from a few test shots of a camera bag zip etc so I'm having fun playing with it - still not quite got the hang of it though.

Nice water droplet shot Lynn x
Thanks.

Thanks - I thought of keeping the 'Love' for Valentine's but once I had the idea of shooting it in my head I wanted to go ahead and do it before I forgot.

catching up a bit here, really nice last 4, great colour and detail, particularly liked to latter 2
Thanks!
