Your last 2 are really great Lynn, particularly like the flowers.

Stunning model shot Lynn you must be pleased with that:thumbs:

To stunning photo's since I last called in  both of them are wonderful
Thanks!

Lynn loving the lighting on the model and those eyes have been captured superbly !!
Thanks - new lens so trying it out.

Thanks!

Your photo of Sarah is amazing :)

Brilliant pic!

The model shot is lovely Lynn, sometimes just using the modelling light is nicer than the flash.
Thanks - I wanted to try the new lens at about f/2 to see how it performed, and I often like the 'ambient' light look - and it frees the flash up for others. It meant I couldn't really direct the model though (not fair for me to do that with others shooting with the flash).

You've certainly caught the model well, lovely set up

Lovely portrait, great tones and pin sharp eyes, spot on
Thanks - yes focus on the eyes - quite shallow DOF so I did miss focus on some of the other shots (probably simply by moving the camera a bit as I was using focus/recompose).

The snow has arrived in NI so of course I had to get a snowing shot! Literally right outside the door (went out in my slippers lol!) - snow settling on the garden bench.

(And yes I will take my new 85 off the camera at some point and shoot above f/2 but enjoying it at the moment!)

Day 18 - Snowing!

Oh I like this one Lynn - beautiful

Great shot Lynn !!

ahh very nice :)

Great shot - works very well! :)

Oh yeah that works well and captures the mood of the day
Thanks all. There is a lot more snow now but I wanted to get a shot while it was falling and while there was still enough light.

It's stopped here for now and I'm wearing my new snow boots around the house a bit to 'break them in' before heading out in the morning.

No keep the 85 on and don't shoot above f2.... such a gorgeous shot..snow bokeh...

Lovely composition of the bench. Love how you got some flakes almost in focus. I was trying this for ages today but couldn't quite get it. Nicely done :)

Not sure how you'd focus on the snow itself, but I focused on the arm of the bench and of course that meant some flakes were nearly in focus, and some were snow bokeh. :)

Lovely shot, the shallow DoF really makes this one

great capture .. not managed one of falling snow yet :)
Thanks.

I'd hoped to do a snowy towpath walk today but the snow was pretty much all gone round here. :( (It's still falling and heavy elsewhere, most inconvenient - if its going to disrupt all my weekend plans it could at least hang around where I wanted it for a few hours!)

Went for a towpath walk anyway but didn't bring the camera. However had a wee explore off the path a bit and over a bridge, and found this ruined lock keepers house. Just an iPhone one I'm afraid - might go back with the camera at some point.

Day 19
Ruins of McQuiston's lock keepers house

Great scene. I think with all that detail though, i'd prefer a hint of colour (albeit quite desaturated)

I went back & forward between a desaturated colour version & this one, I couldn't decide. The colours were so drab that I ended up going for the toned mono & a bit more clarity & contrast. I'd like to go back in spring to see what it's like.

AH if you tried it, then I guess the mono version was the better. Yep definatley a place well worth revisiting, and throughout the year.

brilliant shot :)

Nice place to shoot, and I agree it would be interesting to return in the spring.

I couldn't decide which, the other may have been better...

Oh that looks like a really interesting location  if it were not so over grown I'd have a lot of light painting fun there :D
I half expected it to be full of empty cans, a drinkers den sort of place - but maybe it's too long a walk - I'd imagine its even more overgrown in the summer.

brilliant shot :)

very moody and atmospheric

Thanks all - yes I'll stop by again - and bring my camera next time!

Just catching up. Model shot is very good & the snow is very topical (it's just bloody started again here!!!).
The lock keepers cottage is a great find, I look forward to seeing more shots of it over the year.
Thanks. Yes more snow again here today.

Well today the snow was disrupting my plans while still being none nearby to go and photograph! Ended up driving through a blizzard then past lovely snowy fields but on motorway so couldn't stop. Managed to grab this one with the phone - not very good quality, rather boring - sorry - one of those 'have to take something' days - I guess we all have them. :(

Day 20 - we have some snow...

still a great shot Lynn .... Ive been having those days for the past few days and not helped by having long shifts at work so no walks out anywhere :(

know the feeling about those days :(, but for a phone picture it looks pretty good to me
Thanks - it wouldn't have been very exciting even if I had the camera - basically dived across a slushy road to find a field with snow and some trees - just did the best I could - no snow near where I live.

Rather frustratingly the other route I thought of taking this afternoon over the hills was passable with care and would have had more photo opportunities - a friend drove me up there tonight but too dark to get any shots with my phone. :(

We all have them days Lynn , but you rescued it with a shot !! Nice one
Thanks - not what I wanted but something at least.

Beautiful Lynn!
Thanks :)

Loved the flower shots tonight. Hope you get some time to get out this week.

Thanks again Lynn :) well I have my first baby 'practice' shoot tomorrow - looking forward to it but nervous as well :)
