Sold a multitrack recorder on eBay today for about sixty seven quid. I haven't used eBay to sell anything for quite a few years and was surprised that the method of payment is not PayPal anymore but direct to eBay themselves. I thought' not a problem' as the selling side of the site explained that I would be paid direct to my bank account within a couple of days. Now I find that although it sold today, I won't get my money until the 12th December as eBay allows the buyer to inspect and give rise to any issues, then have to accept the item before eBay release my money. To be honest, I think I'd rather give it away to a local school as at least that would be the end of the matter. I don't necessarily expect a problem but I have heard stories wherein someone receives an item, claims it's damaged , then keeps it but sends a damaged one back, I didn't know about the non-PayPal thing at the time so wondered how they could do that; now I know.
For less than seventy quid I'm not sure I want to take the risk of having a lot of hassle that I don't need. I think I might just tell the guy it's been nicked and then give it to the music department at the local school instead and since I'll never sell anything by eBay again I'm really not worried about negative feedback.
Anyone had horror stories for items you've sold on fleabay?
