Scum

When I was at school if you did anything wrong you got the living **** belted out of you and that made you think twice before doing whatever it was again.Whilst I was in fifth year corporal punishment was banned and replaced with detention and punishment exercises, with the result that there was a noticeable rise in anti-social behaviour.

The punishment must fit the crime. If you take a life then you must suffer the consequences and being waited on hand and foot for the rest of your life is not an appropriate punishment for killing kids...

you need to study psychology, all experiments have shown that punishment doesn't work, except for obviously "extreme" punishment, such as the death penalty, which makes then physically unable to.

i mean, honestly, what kind of country would this be if we caught the kids that did this and then burned them with fireworks.. its not bloody 1803

What does it say about our society though when instead (not that I'm advocating an eye for an eye for crimes like this, only for murder) the "punishment" metered out amounts to little more than a stern talking to?

Yes they do, iirc it's the case is some muslim countries (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). At first the theory sounds fine to me, but really I personally feel that's a step too far towards revenge rather than punishment..

oh the irony...

It would be interesting to see if peoples views changed if it was their baby, or a family member on the receiving end of these "attacks" or whatever you want to call them.

I feel that whatever the crime, the punishment should fit it.. if you feel it's acceptable to batter some little old lady over the head, why should you not get your head battered yourself.

i'm def not arguing with you on that point.. but most of this 'P**** murders 200 kids and gets a £5 fine' *******s is just newspapers trying to wind people up into some stupid frenzy because they know we love to go mental about it and buy more of their newspapers.

if my baby was burned i would kick the **** out of those kids and i wouldnt think twice. But i'd hardly be in a mental state to dish out a fair punishment which is why we have a legal system, police, courts and why vigiliantism is illegal.

We are civilised, there is no need to sink to that level.

And the cretins who did this are civilised?

Gimme a break, what would you do with them? Sit down and discuss how they felt deprived when they didn't get an action man, PS3, MAC and a Ferrari when they were younger? Then blame the system, the schools and the social workers and give them a holiday at the tax payers expense?

These are scumbags, end of story. They have no respect for human life and in my opinion as soon as they do something like this they should lose their human rights.

Quote me if you like, I'm not going to debate, or discuss, the rights or wrongs of my opinion.

It is sickening. Why oh why would any do that?? It isnt big and certainly isnt clever.

Grrrrrrr friggin' waste of sperms ::annoyed:

athough , on further thought. it would be funny if people that parked in a disabled spot had to have a disabled person park their car in the persons drive way LOL

or if you get caught speeding then people are now allowed to drive up your drive at 90 mph :)

what would happen if you get caught with weed...? :)

Thank you for the tip, Mr Schoolboy ;), but I have already done so, just because I am not regurgitating text from books doesn't mean I haven't studied the subject.....

I suggest you stop reading the Daily Mail for starters.

And just because someone seems to have a disrespect of human rights doesn't give you permission to disrespect them as well. That's how things get out of hand.

go on then mr. enlightened, tell me about the experiments I'm talking about in your own words :)

Well I don't see what the death penalty would achieve? Other than a nice feeling of revenge for the victims.

Like most people you're missing the point completely. A feeling of revenge for the victim - what's wrong with that anyway?

What the death penalty achieves far better than anything else, is it's pretty well guaranteed that they wont do it again.

Oh, I quite agree on that point....look at the hubbub The Sun stirred up with it's campaign against paedophiles - you had mobs going around wrecking paediatrician's offices

Revenge and prevention of someone re-offending aren't really justifications of the death penalty. If you kill a shop lifter they won't do it again, and the shop keeper will feel he's got some revenge, doesn't make it right.

well, just one more thing (© columbo)
it doesnt guarantee they wont do it again, because its not always the guilty person thats punished.. thats why we dont have a death penalty and why we hopefully never will

You know you can be really irritating when you want to be, which seems quite often. Death penalty for shoplifting when was that ever suggested? How about death penalty for murder. How many people have been killed by convicted murderers let out of prison by so-called experts who deem these people reformed and no longer a threat to society.

I'd want some revenge if it was a member of my own family, preferably by my own hand, but at a pinch I'd be happy for the state to do it for me.

Why? The last time I read a psychology book you were just a glint in the milkman's eye, I'm sure there have been many, many papers written on the subject since then.

However, of that these are my personal opinions, irregardless of what some study may have found.

Anyway, 97.2% of statistics are made up ;)

And how many times have the got the wrong guy and killed an innocent man?

1 too many.

Also revenge can too easily become irrational.

Sorry????

Let's get something crystal clear here, the minute you take away another person's human rights by killing them or raping them then you forefeit any right to be protected by these laws. That is a large part of the problem in this country, the only people who have any rights under that stupid act are the criminals. Or do you think it was a good idea to pay compensation (£2500 each) to the prisoners who were traumatised by having to slop-out?

I tend to agree with Yantorsen.
The last thing we need is the death penalty, Sharia Law, Eye for an Eye or Vigilante squads.
We DO need a return to old fashioned values of discipline in schools and that DOES mean a return of corporal punishment.
To my mind schools and parents have the biggest impact on a child's character and society has made the schools impotent when it comes to discipline.
That leaves the parents and we only have to look at the state of some of those.
A sorry country this has become.

Come on then how many people have been wrongly hanged, as in categorically innocent?

Can we drop the 'revenge' tag?. It's a label used by people who like to think of themselves as enlightened and liberal, as well as giving the death penalty a purpose other than carrying out the lawful legal process.

I don't agree with corporal punishment, one it doesn't work, infact it often has reverse effect.

and it's too easy for teachers to take advantage of.

Ermmm, I'm pretty sure the human rights laws apply to all humans.

1. I've never read the Daily Mail
2. You're wrong. We've given this scum the permission and latitude to disrespect us. It's time that was reversed.

I sacked a guy last week, that was corporate punishment and it worked for me
