Sawman's 52 Quality

Brilliant and so cute Charlie. Keep up the good work protecting the little darlings.
Sue

Thank you. I am glad you liked this one.

Work sort of revolves around looking after the habitat for Wullie & his pals these days.
This is also helping other wildlife too.

That brought a smile to my face :) Cuter than anything has the right to be. Well taken

excellent, what a relaxed pose, how many nuts did you bribe him with?

Thank you all. I am glad you liked the "Stare"
I have been trying to help out a local colony of Reds for about three years now.
I can more or less guarantee to see one or two each day. Did have 10 all at the same time some time back now.
I feed them a good quality squirrel mix throughout the year. This means they are happy & I am broke most of the time.
In return for some food & now also some work to the woods they live in. I get to take some nice shots of them. Since starting to thin the woods I have also found my waist again too.
So all in all we are both happy with our lots.

That's a great shot, nice composition, great DOF and you've even managed to get the little fella to pose and give you a nice expression too!

Well done

O.K. O.K. you have outdone me on the squirrel shots :thumbs: lovely shot clear and sharp and adorable. Well done  very jealous :D

Just trying to show you what a proper squirrel looks like.:p :lol:

Lovely shot of the red Charlie. Keep up the good work!

Charlie, that is an amazing shot. He is absolutely gorgeous. I have never even seen a red. We only have these wretched grey things.

That is a perfect interpretation of "stare".

Well done :clap::clap::clap:

Jenny

Thank you. We have no grey ones around & I intend to keep it that way.;)
You need to make the effort to see a red one. Much nicer animal than the grey.

Lovely shot of the red Charlie. Keep up the good work!

Thank you. I was rewarded by being in the company of five reds this morning. One was so close that I could hear it crunching away at his breakfast.:D

I had a grey in the garden this morning - looked like he'd lost most of the fur off his tail though.

I'm just surprised that one of your pals hasn't made it into your 52 before this week.

Beautiful as always. I love the way he seems to be casually leaning against that branch.
Lovely focus on his eyes and a beautifully sharp shot all round.

:( It's such a shame that we don't have any reds down here - beautiful creatures. Keep up the good work with them.

have to say (I think) this is my first visit to this thread, and there are some lovely images.

I'll try and keep on top of things now that I've sorted myself out. Promise!

Anyway, I think your shot for Stare is stunning. Lovely capture of the red squirrel. I did take a trip up to Formby a while ago to try and get some for myself, but I have neither the gear or the patience to get shots anywhere close to this.

I too have not been commenting on others work as I feel I should. Need to try harder!
Glad you liked the shot of the Red Squirrel.
I have a permanent hide set up in a large area of mixed woodland & open hill.
By keeping the area supplied with food, the squirrels are more or less around all day. They come & go & can be difficult to tell apart so getting a true idea of the total numbers is very difficult.

Really cute - a wonderful portrait. Ideally I would like to take a little off the top as I feel there is a bit too much space above the ears, but that is only a minor quibble.

All you need now is a caption!

What a wonderful shot :) I have only seen a red squirrel once.....it scuttled across the road in front of my car....no chance of a pic:'( Keep up the good work!!! These guys need all the help they can get.

A wonderful shot Charlie ... I'm guessing from the angle and crop that you're still accepted in close by them ?

Thanks folks.
I am indeed acepted in close. Touching distance in fact.
They are noisy eaters when chomping on nuts.

I did think of a few ideas for this theme. The one that kept coming back though was to go & take a few shots inside the wee kirk in the glen.
I am not religious but do find it very peaceful in there.
My final resting place is just outside.:D

Very nice. And I'm so glad you didn't perform an overcooked hdr jobbie on it! Doesn't it look rather peaceful too, doesn't it :)

A quick catchup
Cracking Wullie shot as always Charlie

Cheers. As to HDR. I wouldnt know where to start.:)

Well, nothing wrong with them, but I'm not a fan of overcooked ones. Also, noticed my comment was missing a very valuable "it" in there!

Bit of a catch up from me - I keep getting behind with comments. :bang:

Like Sarah, I'm surprised this is the firs time Wullie/Boris has made it into your 52. He's presssed all my 'cute appreciation' buttons, and he'd clearly been to the local nail bar to get his nails polished! He certainly looks a picture of health and is a tribute to the squirrel mix diet you feed him!

This sounds like a good symbiotic relationship. :D ;)

JennyB - Brownsea Island are probably your closest to see reds. :)

Peace: The light on these is beautiful and the first shot in particular says Peace for me. An excellent interpretation of the theme, Charlie.

I'm not religious either, but have to agree that there is something very peaceful about churches. Something about the symmetry of how they're laid out, the acoustics and the quality of light in them.

The first one is a lovely shot. Great texture in the wood, warm tones and I love the splash of colour from the flowers.
It's lovely and crisp too - I almost feel like I could walk into it.

Fits the theme very well, and you have caught some lovely warm tones. I always find the smaller, simple churches have a more peaceful atmosphere than the large ornate ones. That is an interesting carved pulpit.

I like the chapel shots. The simplicity of the place, and in the second shot the vase of daffodilsand flowering currant, give a friendly welcoming feel to the chapel. I always feel very peaceful in little chapels like that and, as a Christian, close to God.

Thank you for your thoughts on "Peace"
My father & my sister are buried in the graveyard just outside & I usually pop into the kirk when I am up there.

I really like the composition, and exposure you chose for these shots. they've worked very well and definitely say "Peace" to me.

The windows look a tad blown though (to be expected with the different lighting conditions). Did you try and burn them down a bit, or was there minimal PP on this?

Ian.
