Thank you, I decided to go with my favouite this week which is #1!

Now symmetry - have a couple of ideas but it's whether I have the skills/ patience to pull them off!!:lol:

This is my first entry for Symmetry. It's my first attempt at doing cream drops! This was taken by dropping coloured cream into a small tank of water. After several changes of water and trying different coloured cream I went for one of my first attempts. I'm off work tomorrow so I'm planning to have another go - I think this might be addictive!!:):)

Ooooooooo pretty! Pretty awesome too, lovely and sharp and more importantly perfectly symmetrical!

How did you get the black background with the splash so sharp? I know I'm always asking this question but I just can't achieve a black background so well and always trying to learn.

Hi Marsha, I used two speedlight flashes - one either side of the tank. The background in this case an A4 piece of paper was just behind the tank. I think the big thing with keeping the background black is to try and keep as much light off it as you can.

I'll try and remember to take a pic of the set up tomorrow!

I REALLY need more time to practice stuff like this!

It's a superb shot though, you need to enter this into competitions like Photo answers photographer of the year, next months is still life!
 
A very striking photograph Sarah.
There isn't anything to add further, its perfect.

I can see a persons face at the bottom centre of the frame, with their hands reaching out holding the red plumes up :lol:

Are there any phsycologists on here to interpret what I have seen? :lol:

Thanks Iain, not sure about being perfect - it's not exactly what I had I mind!!:):)

It's a bit like an ink blot picture, I can see a beetle at the bottom!!:lol:

Although if my hubby and I actually get our shifts to coincide at all we may get a four day break! I'll be straight up with flash guns, glass from Ikea, a pint of cream, food dye and a bottle of brandy ;)

Ahhh yes that thing. I'll be glad when the torch is done, it gets mentioned alot where I work.

And sounds like a splendid list of supplies for a indoor meet :D

The bottle of brandy sounds very appealing, not sure what our photos would end up like after drinking but then we prob wouldn't notice!!:lol::lol:

"cream drops"! never heard of them before....

It's nice and sharp, well chosen shutter speed. Looks like some one holding aloft a rather strange trophy.

When all else fails, for this kind of photograph, I can usually find some crit with the BG but yours is pitch black.

This is probably one of my favourite images you've submitted. Great colour, lovely and sharp plus good pp'ing to get the symmetry spot on.
 
Symmetry is lovely. It's almost medical; not sure if that's a good thing or not!!

Very good lighting indeed, especially if it was a first attempt! I'd like to give that a go one day.

Mark have a go but be warned it can be addictive though my other attempts on Monday were a disaster:lol: so I went onto water drops instead!!
