weekly *Sarah* 2012 52 week challenge. Yippee I made it!!

Thank you everybody for your comments, things have been pretty hectic here so I havent had time or the inclination to reshoot joy this week!

I apologise again for not to visit your own threads this week but will try and catch up on comments on your shots this week, I try not to look at others threads until I have taken mine!:)

Desperatly need inspiration or a kick up the bum this week - think I need to try thinking and photographing "out of the box" again!!:):)

Life is bound to get in the way at some point, its just how it goes. Doesn't matter if you don't always get to comment, you've always put a massive amount of time into it. As long as you are still here.
 
#1 gets my vote Sarah, I think it's the subtle blue colour that is more appealing to my eye. The light reflections in the foreground are more distinct too.

Life has a habit of getting in the way of our photography, doesn't it?
As Alex said, you are still here, some weeks themes havent filled me with much inspiration either but onward and upward eh? Iain

Thanks Alex, there was too big an audience last night for me!! Think I have an idea for small now - just hoping I can get the result to go with the idea!!:)

Thank you Iain, I'm still going and def not giving up but have been dissapointed with some of my more recent shots, I think I have gone for an easy option some weeks and havent pushed myself as I did at the beginning!
 
I have two entries this week!

I borrowed my sons hand to hold a clear marble in front of the computer screen which had a pic of a globe on it. I then used layers to cut it out and put on the background of the stormy sky from the previous shot! I've not done this before and have learnt a lot in making this one. It's far from perfect but I'm pleased with it!:)

I like the wind turbines - good idea that.
And intrigued as to how you managed the second. Photoshop or equivalent software I presume.

#1 I like the wind turbines, they are well placed in the shot and most definitely look small against that very moddy sky. There is a nice amount of them to balance the shot against the strong sky.

#2 clever stuff!! And a really good idea.

Thank Bob, the 2nd shot was 2 shots put together using photoshop.
1st shot was of the hand holding the clear marble with the globe refraction in it. The 2nd was of the moody sky, they were then put together using layers in photoshop Sounds easy but it wasn't for me!!:lol::lol:

Joy – I prefer #1 because of the light landing on the foreground and the colour has grown on me

Small - I do like #1 as I prefer land(sea)scapes but my vote would go to #2 as it more away from the norm. I also know the effort put into it in PP and before taking it - you've used your creativity/imagination well again.
 
Number 1 for me, I do like 2 also but i think 1 is really quite eerie very foreboding :clap:
 
Joy is rather special! Number two for me because of the better composition.

Small, number two is very clever, but it has to be number one for me; it's not di simillar to what I failed to do; something that's small because of its context, rather than actually small in absolute terms. Love it :)

Thank you Peter and Allan, I can't decide which to go for yet, #1 was very much a snapshot whilst #2 was testing to say the least!!:lol::lol:

Thank you Alan and Mark, I took a shot without the light beach but it was very flat looking!:)

It's typical that the "snapshot" beach scene which was handheld, no filters and hardly any pp is more popular than #2. It goes to show that sometimes you should go for your first attempt - though I was worried that people might say that the turbines are big, even though they're small on the shot!!:lol::lol:

I have decided that I'm going for #2 as this weeks entry as although #1 is more pleasing to look at, it was a snapshot, #2 was lot more of a challenge and thats why I've decided to go with that one!!:)
 
Two good entries for this weeks theme Sarah, but #2 gets my vote.
I do like the sky line in #1 but its #2 which is more on theme IMHO. Some good pp skills there, photographic wise, I think a little more light on the front of the hand would have lifted this a little, just to make it pop IYSWIM. Good work though :thumbs: Iain

Thanks Iain, I'll have another look at it and see if I can lift it a bit more!!:):) I'm not sure if I'll reshoot it though!
 
I've wanted to have a go at this shot for a while and thought the coloured water makes a straight line!

It wasn't quite as easy as I thought it would be - I stuck the glasses onto a glass sheet using double sided sticky tape, tipped the glass up a little on some DVD boxes, filled the glasses with the right amount of coloured water and fired away!! It took a few attemps to get the lighting right, I ended up with 1 flash firing onto the background and natural light on the glasses. This 1 was the last one I took, as the tape gave way and the orange glass made it's way to the floor!!:eek::eek:

I put it up on flickr and noticed that the glass was making it's way off the glass sheet and was therefore wonky! I had thought about a reshoot tomorrow night but Peter came to the rescue and showed me how to correct using pp! Thank you Peter!!:love:

Moody, love the grain and the mono conversion, it suits the mood well.

Industry reshoot, what a lot of buttons and things to twiddle! I think you've done well in poor lighting

Joy, I prefer the second version, very gentle lighting and I bet it was a swine to shoot?!?

Small, I like how the wind turbines look small against the rather moody sky, but the second small shot is superb:clap: A great bit of PP there, well done! The only crit I can find is your son needs to stop nibbling his nails ;)

Straight, AWESOME! Probably the best shot I've seen yet:clap:

Now how did you get the glass sheet flat with the glasses tilted?!???!? Am I being stupid here?

Thanks Marsha, my son needs to wash his hands as well, I must admit I did clean his nails a little in pp!:lol:

Straight - I thought of you when taking this one and took a pic of the set up which I'll try and upload tomorrow for you!:)

Thank you Bob, Michael and Allan!! I put it in the Creative as well last night and have been pleased with the comments on there as well, it's also got the highest points on 500px for one of mine!!:)

I think I need to take more of these as well!!

Thank you Neil, the only splashing yesterday was when the glass slid off onto the carpet!!:eek::lol: I'm hoping to have another go next weekend and will try splashes as well!:)
