...oh..that reputation....lol!!! I thought they meant my addiction to self portraits... If that's the case though...I wonder how I can incorporate one Into another photo

Great fang and shop image

fangs tezz :D

Kev the fang shot really jumps out the screen. Excellent work! Tge B &q sign is a great subject for sc.

Thanks Michael...i had to wait three hours for the car park to clear...i seriously thought they'd close early on a bank holiday ... :bonk:

spot on yet again kev (ive been lurking around this thread for ages), have you thought about doing a selective colour tutorial for those of us who havent experimented with this technique yet.

Dan...thanks for lurking...i feel there are a multitude of heavenly hosts casting a watchful gaze across my thread, but few speak up

as for a tutorial. mm? i'll have to have a think, maybe i'll dig out a link to a few sites i use as i'd only be reinventing the wheel. I see each shot as individual, composition etc, backgrounds and added items  (stop it michael!!! i didn't know it was there... like the clothes horse in Movember)

It really revolves around cleaning the photo up a little, then using the B&W layer in CS4, and painting over the SC object. Again though do you paint all of the object or part. Then couple it with more layers like contrast and saturation if i want to dumb the SC down.

Most times i use a high pass filter for final sharpening and lens distortion for vingette.

Something i strongly advocate is using layers and periodically merging layers INTO a new layer using the ALT key. The grouping, locking and hiding the layers as i go along.

I'll try and grab some screenshots as i go along with one of my next shots and put them in the tut section?

Hiya Kev,

I have to commend you on these self portraits you are producing ..... because they are nothing like the Kev I met last year. So well done to you for taking yourself out of character to produce a fantastic image. Very creative, original and inspiring.

Cheers

Dawn :)

SP Fresh OJ Day 07

SP Fresh OJ Wk 01 Pc 07 by Kev_H, on Flickr

Today's portrait i went for the sort of look i'd expect to see on the front page of a newspaper in years gone by... a mobster hit or something.. "They'd hung him out to dry" .. or as some will think.."He's finally coming out of the closet?" or even ... "The maid put him away with the rest of his dry cleaning"

Heavy processing involved cross processing after having B&W filter applied, contrast turned up and noise and vertical grain added.

Let me know what you think?

Hiya Kev,

Your ideas and creativity are beyond words and are very inspiring.

How you come up with the ideas is beyond me (and I thought I suffered from an over-active imagination ..... I think you surpass me )

This latest photo conjures up some old memories from school days, when one of the first year of high school chaps was actually threaded onto a coat hanger through his blazer and hung on one of the hooks in the boys gym change rooms  (OMG school days are evil :D). Thanks for the memory

Onto your photo .... I think the cross processing is slightly OTT (and could perhaps do with a slight tone down). I say that because it makes your face and hand very odd looking and very prominent, distracting from the whole message of the shot.

I like the inclusion of the tie, the message is very fitting .... however the shadow cast from same is very distracting, especially as it seems to stem from your head. Perhaps if you could clone the shadow, it would make more of an impact and add to the ambiance of the shot.

However, very creative ... and I take my hat off to you for the ideas you come up with for your project

Cheers

thank you dawn.... so many ideas still to come, my head might literally explode through not enough time...

Mine wasn't the school of hard knocks or 'life' but a blend of dali and a cubist's idea of 60s architecture...

to be honest..yes it is a bit OTT... i look at the image over all and missed the head.. good spot #1...

YES!!..the shadow, spot #2.. i see it now... BUT..ah!!.. in a real life situation the front page photo wouldn't have time to be cloned out... shot it as its scene...

However, very creative ... and I take my hat off to you for the ideas you come up with for your project

Cheers

..and Kev takes a bow in thanks ...

SP Fresh OJ Day 08

SP Fresh OJ Wk 02 Pc 01 by Kev_H, on Flickr

Literally SOOC except from duplicating layer and flipping it vertically to create a reflection. No PP as its a photo through the viewer of a second camera. I cannot list the model or type as i enclosed it in a cardboard tube some time ago to help with this technique. The grit and grime on the image is actually on the other camera's lenses

OCF to the side on 1/8 power. Manually focused.
