Daily ~Sam~'s 365 - one day at a time

I think the haze adds to this shot not detracts.. looks lovely!

Mist has worked really well in this one, adds mystery to the end of the lane which makes you wonder where it goes. Slightly blank sky, but you could actually crop the left of the shot up to the trees and remove most of it & have the path starting from the corner.

still a lovely shot Sam .... looking forward to shots from Scotland while you are there :)

Ahh, well my skies were like that today as well today. There was just a haze everywhere that the sun couldn't burn off.

Nice pathway though, like the way it actually goes further than would appear at first glance.

I really like it Sam! I like the hazy feel it has :)

I like how the path draws you into the shot, just a shame about the sky, but maybe we'll actually get a summer this year ;)

Both nice photo's Sam, the mist sort of adds to the image IMO

Thanks for the comments, everyone! :) Blue skies every day while I was away apart from today.....but who cares when you're coming home?! :D I have a lot of catching up to do of everyone's threads and will get in with that over the next day or so - looking forward to seeing all the photos!

Hi Sam loving the flare on the perfume bottle, looks fab!

Thanks, Ferj! :)

Really like day 45! :) And hapy belated birthday to you!

Cheers, Jake!:)

What Raw v JPeg debate

Could be any of them, couldn't it. really? However, it's the one Mark and I sometimes have, especially when he knows I generally shoot in Raw but now have a camera without that facility which has brought out his somewhat insistent side! :D:bang::D He is totally committed to Raw and anything else is an affront to photography. I'm a little more relaxed about that! :)

Good to see you back Sam. Waiting on loads of amazing shots from Scotland now........................

Hey Sam good to see you back!!

Did you have a lovely time?

Ooh Sam, we have missed you looking forward to seeing your catch up

Thanks, Phil - I do have loads of shots, can't claim they're amazing though! :D

Hey Sam good to see you back!!

Did you have a lovely time?

Hi, T! I had a fantastic time, thanks - we managed to cram in quite a bit into a short space of time and I enjoyed all of it! :)

Ooh Sam, we have missed you looking forward to seeing your catch up

Hi, Sarah! I'll post the photos tonight....meant to start last night but I was shattered! Haven't even caught up on everyone elses yet so can't wait to get back from work and have a roam around! :)

I'm doing my best to get round everyone's photographs, but it's a bit time consuming! :)

Had a fantastic time in Scotland.....left all the stress behind for a few days, just took shots and was more concerned about having a good time than any pressure to get 'the right one' or the 'technically good' one, so bear with me! :D

So.....Day One....we managed to get up to the Glasgow area by about 10.30 and went to a visit a NTS place that M used to work at! This is my 365 purely to show Sarah that we also have blossom over here!:lol:

We also went into Paisley, where Mark lived at one time - having never been there, I found a lot of interest including this one....

Yay for Blossom :D i don't mind you having it at all - got to share it about as it's so fleeting :D

Day Two in Scotland and we got around a bit! Went to Finlaystone Estate which was great then on to a beach the other side of town....but the highlight was the sunset over the Clyde which we saw from Greenock....and the moon was out!!

I was quite pleased with that one as I've never done anything like it before and it seems to have some detail in it.

Back to the sunset... the most amazing colours and the clouds looked like a serpent with spiked tongue and all (this one doesn't really do it justice)

Hi Sam, and welcome back...some really lovely shots there...the blossom is gorgeous and looks great against the blue sky....very nice moon shot...and love the sunset shot

Day Three and we went to Lochwinnoch - spent the first part of the day in an RSPB reserve which was great as I pay good money to them every flipping month and there are no reserves close to us!! I was determined to get some photos but I tell you, these guys are QUICK and it became very frustrating very soon..........so, not technically great, slightly soft I think, but I got one or two!!!

I just like the pose in that one!

My other fave was this -

We then went on to a couple of other places in the area followed by Mark's great idea to go a local country park. For those of you who don't know Scotland very well, there are a lot of single track roads and they are better suited to vehicles like Land Rovers...I haven't dared to check out what that particular one did to the underneath of my car! :bang::eek:

Sharing is good....and believe it or not, I was actually taking this and saying 'Sarah's got to see this, she gets all of it'!!! :D

Thanks, Simon! It was so good to just get out there for a while....I am not good at being inside all the time so it was an added bonus to see all that blossom on the first day! :)

Wow, love both those day 48 shots I've never had any success at all with the moon, must try it with a tripod one day

The sunset is just gorgeous, I'm sure a quick play in PP could boost it a bit ;)

Thanks, Sarah! :)

I need to go back to a few of them again.....too impatient am I!!

Glad you like them, I was pleased to get things I don't normally manage to even see without travelling at times I can't be bothered to! :D

Ooooo and you snook in with another couple of crackers ;).....lovely shots hun, great detail.

Thank you!! I procrastinated a little, so they all came at once! :) I'm really pleased you like them! :)

Last day of our trip and we were more concerned about getting back (and shopping for all the delicacies Mark misses down here such as Beef Olives, which I thought were not specific to any area but you can't find often where we love, treacle scones, Scotch panackes, haggis etc etc) but we did visit a church he used to go to so got a quick one of this window...

365/50 by ~sammi~, on Flickr

There was so much more which was amazing, but I just couldn't get a good shot of it. From the outside, this was a nice church but nothing special - the inside was beautiful.

Anyway, it was this photo, or a close up of my Whopper With Cheese at the services on the way back!!!

Hi Sam. Good to see the blossom out, I was pruning cherry trees this morning and it is a few days away here yet. Love the colours in that sunset, must look at a bigger version. The moon is nicely caught, I have tried this before using a tripod and im always surprised at how quickly it moves across the frame. You have did well with yout 2 tits even if they have been moving quickly.

Oh, and the stained glass is really nice too, there is another idea for me!

Thanks, Phil - the sunset is a little noisy, so don't bother with the bigger version! :D

Now you see this one good thing about people going away!..... It's so lovely seeing the shots and well almost an excitement in how it's written etc... Because its somewhere different and not the usual mundane etc!

That moon is ace Sam.... What lens? I would love to try that!...
The sunset is beautiful too.... And blossom!... You saw blossom woohoo go girl!
Made me chuckle with thinking of Sarah when you saw it lol
Birds are lovely too again something I've not done yet.... But plan too
Looks like you had a really lovely time! :-)

Cheers, Phil - I LOVE stained glass, especially if the light is right, there are some amazing pieces about and sometimes where you don't expect to see them, so keep your eyes out!

They are also easy ones as they don't move!

I had a fantastic time! Mark did a great job as tour guide as he was brought up in the area and knows what I like and the weather worked for us so well (mind you, the low sun wasn't kind to our shots a lot of the time). He was also a little upset he didn't bother bringing his camera into Paisley as he knew it well, but I had never been there so could appreciate what it had to offer, which is a lot in terms of architecture etc.

Birds are little gits unless they are swans or ducks, in my opinion and I hate having to wait for ages for them to stay still for a moment...........that's why they aren't sharp but I like them because I went through pain and tears and frustration to get them - just to make you aware of what you get yourself into when you say, hey, I'll go for a little bird pic today!! :D

All photos were taken on my SX40 so can't help out with the lens, sorry.

Great colours in that glass, still I would have liked to see your whopper though

Birds are very difficult to get sharp and clear I've found, so well done for persevering :D

The stained glass window is gorgeous, not really something we have a lot of over here :(

Some gorgeous shots Sam ....... so good to be somewhere else for a change as T said before .... new experiences for the eyes :) The moon shot is fabulous and I keep looking at it and htinking could I get it but the biggest lens I have is 80 - 200 so no chance just yet I dont think :( Oh well roll on the lottery win and then I'll just buy one of everything

Love the blossom and the stained glass window and the sunset is gorgeous - love the colours

Glad you had a great time and are now stocked up but roll on the next visit eh? :)

I lied about the pic of the Whopper....I was too busy stuffing my face with it to stop for a photo!

Thanks, Sarah! :) I may go back to exclusively shooting swans and ducks now - so much easier! :D

Welcome home Sam, looks like you had a really good break and some really good weather. Got some excellent shots in as well.

Thanks, Sarah! :) The weather was great right until we came home, so we were very lucky!

The sunset shot is beautiful! And good to see that you had a nice time away

Thanks, Jake - and, yes, we had a great time. :)

Thanks, Carol - glad you like the photos! Next visit should be in June (to a different part) just dithering about cancelling given the job issues, but holding off for now!
