Daily ~Sam~'s 365 - one day at a time

I'll second it being a bit dark and needing just a *little* more punch. But my monitor isn't calibrated! Either way, I do like it. I want to own my own home and cover the exterior in all manner of things...

edit - the edit looks much better!!

Ok back to the shot... i really like this, what a cool find...

I thought it looked fine too but seeing the edit it does pop a little more:D

Thanks for the comments both of you! :)

Now Shush about that edit...someone's gonna get a big fat head!:D

Toni, there's a house fairly near to where I live and they have wagon wheels all over it plus others and it actually looks pretty good! :)

I'm back :D ...... I think

Some wonderful shots Sam - Dilapidated is gorgeous - love anything like that  Love the choccies as well - one of my favourites from the 'Olde Sweet Shoppe' :) Statue is great especially with that blue sky as well - Lucky devil :)

Hope things are looking up a bit on the work front and not as serious as you thought

Hi, Carol! Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you like the photos - I have my eye on a couple of other old buildings near to where I work, so hopefully you'll like them as well! The sweets are mark's thing more than mine...we go to Scotland each year and he actually prints a list of things to get from the sweet shop in Inveraray!!

Love the lizard, I used to get real ones on my walls - but I don't tend to see them so often now - think the cats like them too :D I normally have a house gecko in the summer months too :D

Thanks, Sarah...he's not as interesting or as colourful as the real thing but we don't get many of those here!!

Some really interesting stuff since I last visited  I love the old and battered doors  thought my favorite is the shell with the beads  If you want to borrow an ND110 for a little bit I've got a spare one, it's 67mm so you may need to get a step/step down ring but I'm happy to let you borrow it for a few weeks to play with

Matt, that is incredibly generous of you and a much appreciated offer  I would love to take you up on that at some point, if you don't mind. Thank you!

Glad you like my photos - it's nice to be out and about a little and I am finding things in the town I work in whereas when I started I was worrying that I would never find anything...this project does kind of open your eyes to things you'd never spot or would otherwise have ignored!

So, on my way back home it was snowing and I spotted a cemetery I knew was there but haven't visited before. I'll revisit this when my camera isn't at risk of death and I have less chance of frostbite!

Getting a bit paranoid about my processing now (thanks, Jake! :D:p) so hope this is OK...if not, suggestions are welcomed! I am not used to snow for a start! I also don't know whether colouror mono looks better  Can you tell it's a confusing day for me???

Sam I often end up with two versions when editing and can't decide which I prefer! Of these... hmmm not sure! Not much use am I? I'd maybe edge towards the mono...

Mono for me too, please don't tell me that the hubster voted for the colour shot - you're going to have to take him to the opticians ;)

Well I actually like them both so looks like a seat on the fence for me :D .... as long as it isnt T's barbed wire fence that is

Nice Sam , for it's the monochrome ! more of an eerie look !

Agree with Vince, its mono for me too. Nice Sam

Oh wow Sam the mono for sure!!!

Thanks, Guys and Gal! Looks like most prefer the mono overall! :) It does look more eerie in the mono, I think!

I am in a constant state of perplexity when trying to decide between two versions! I much prefer it when one just leaps out at me and I resist the urge to make too many changes!

No, hubster suggested the mono, so he's not all bad.....apart from trying to help me out today by washing (and shrinking) two of my favourite pieces of clothing. he is not in good books right now :dummy::bat::bat:

Definately the mono for me as well.

Great wintry shots of the graveyard hun, the mono shot really suits it too

Thanks, both of you!

So, a vote for both....you are definitely on that fence, Carol - watch that wire doesn't get you! :D I'm glad you like them both and I sometimes find that looking at photos - they look kind of different each way and work well in each!

Colour colour colour for me :) Black and white is for wimps!

LOL - I think I get the message Tim!

Great shot Sam! Don't be paranoid! The mono is too strong for me, so colour is my fav!

You just had to be different, didn't ya!!:lol::lol::lol: Glad you at least like one of them! ;)

Both colour amd b+w work for me, a desaturated version might work well.

Thanks, Michael, hadn't thought about that so may have another play - mind you, I keep saying that when people suggest things and have enough problems with one a day. Getting some great ideas, though so I think I need to keep a notebook next to the laptop and take them down! :)

Well, didn't manage to put my photo up yesterday (though luckily I managed to get one of sorts)....I was in Lincoln with Mark and my sister to claim my free lunch because it was my birthday!!! Well, to have a lovely afternoon in a restaurant we like and then a good walk round and couple of drinks in the town. The downfall was when we got back and had a bit of a family get-together at my parents after which I was barely coherent let alone capable of commenting on everyone's great photos here!

Anyway, it wasn't really a photo day and the weather wasn't great.........

I like both of them Sam, hard pushed to pick a favourite tbh.

Today's is a bit of a filler, to be honest....I overslept, got up for an hour and went back to bed for another few hours!!!! (Must have needed the rest!!)

However.........thanks, Sis, for the perfume, I love it!! :)

Nice couple of shots Sam, and today's not bad at all for a filler ;).

Cheers, Simon! :)

I did have a lovely birthday, thanks! Thanks for your comment! :)

I hope your birthday was great! And, filler or not, it's a great photo

Love the church - great details Sam and the perfume is lovely  Happy Belated Birthday from me :D

So, today we took the cat off for his holidays because we'll be in Scotland. He gets accommodation far beyond that which we can afford for ourselves!

Decided we wouldn't have much time for the 365 today so went for a walk down the road from the cattery where there is a tiny lake, fields etc. Unfortunately it was VERY misty so wasn't too successful a trip, but I really wanted to try the SX40 (there has been a flipping battle in our house concerning this and, among other things the Raw v JPeg debate reared it's ugly head more than once!!!:lol:) so here we go for today.....

P.S. WHEN WHEN WHEN are we going to get nice skies again? :(

Belated Happy Birthday Sam, I am a few days behind! The church and the perfume are both nice shots, todays suffers from the skies a bit. Im suffering ffrom the same thing here too though.

I know, Phil, the sky at the moment is bloomin' hideous, but it was like that all day and I knew I'd be pretty busy with bits and bobs so it's had to stay. Between the weather and the fact that 90% of the dog owners round there are dirty ******* who just leave their dogs 'doings' all over the blasted place it was a grab and go exercise! :)

Ahh, well my skies were like that today as well today. There was just a haze everywhere that the sun couldn't burn off.

Nice pathway though, like the way it actually goes further than would appear at first glance.
