Daily ~Sam~'s 365 - one day at a time

So, under the guise of needing to go to the Post Office, I managed to break free for a little while today and spotted this poor old building in sad need of a little TLC....

I like that Sam, full of character. What about mono?
Jake, any more age related bad manners from you and you will have me to deal with too :D:D

Really like that Sam, especially the right hand door which is just like a lttle house all on it's own :)

I'm sure you'll be able to get more use out of that one, it's got some nice peely paintwork on it too - lovely textures :D

Looks like a great building to capture Sam. I would have perhaps like to see the top window cropped out and it straightened but good effort

Thanks, Phil - I did think about mono but wasn't sure. I might have another go with this one to see how it would look.

I took one or two just of the right hand one, as that was the piece that caught my eye first, sadly I was more of a snapper than a photographer today and just couldn't get one of the RH which would work well. I will definitely be going back to this one - as you say, that old paintwork is just great! :) I also had some of the building in situ - it's kinf of small between two others, but the sky just didn't want to play so I'll wait for better conditions for that! :)

I saw that - did straighten but can't work out what the issue is here - if I do that with the road at the bottom, it looks even more uneven so (I think that's how I saved it) I straightened across the top beam of the door. It's just a strange angle I think.....I might have been drunk without being drunk on this one!:D

Sorry to hear about your job concerns, hope it isn't too bad.

I now want some of those sweets! I love the old building.

Nice one Sam and agree trying mono!.... so much character and texture in run down buildings!

Thanks, Sarah - I'll find out just how bad it is very soon, so copious amounts of alcohol may be needed :lol:

Thanks for your comments on the photos! :)

Great shot Sam! Definitely needs some work to bring it to this day and age!

Thanks, Jake! :)

Cheers, T! I'm going to try it in mono and see how it goes :) There are a couple of other old buildings I have my eye on so they may feature soon!

Great shot yesterday Sam, shows loads of character and would also look good in black and white too

Thanks, Simon - I'm going to try it in mono as well....Quite curious now that so many have suggested it! :)

I can't believe I forgot to put my photo up tonight! :bonk: Was happily flitting from thread to thread and suddenly realised!

Anyway, not totally sure about it...may need more work, but saw this little fella and he instantly became today's shot as there was NO WAY I was doing another of those indoor ones I'm so fond of!!

P.S. Just ignore that terrible attempt at getting rid of bits I didn't want...looked alright(ish) earlier LOL

Just to clarify I'm not saying it's underexposed or anything, just that a little bit more would make it pop, I put it into my photoshop and boosted it 0.31+ and it made a nice improvement and really popped! :)

Looks ok to me too Sam, well spotted.

Thanks, Phil - it kind of found me though! Just turned around and there it was! There was also a fierce looking old lady with a bit of a beard and a walking frame, but god only knows what Jake would have done to her if I posted a pic!:lol::lol:

Stick it up then, hun! :) If it's really good, you will be in charge of all processing for me for the rest of your life, so I kind of really hope it looks amazing as I hate all that!:lol:

In all seriousness, messed around a little, but with time short and patience shorter, I am sure there are tweaks that would make it a better shot :)

I quite like editing, I spend so much time going through old photos and playing around!
This is with the exposure boosted to around 65 I think. Just having a fiddle, but it stood out a bit more too me. Although the RHS is a little hot.

Hosted with photo bucket so excuse the compression

I'll second it being a bit dark and needing just a *little* more punch. But my monitor isn't calibrated! Either way, I do like it. I want to own my own home and cover the exterior in all manner of things...

edit - the edit looks much better!!

Ok back to the shot... i really like this, what a cool find...

I thought it looked fine too but seeing the edit it does pop a little more:D

I'm back :D ...... I think

Some wonderful shots Sam - Dilapidated is gorgeous - love anything like that  Love the choccies as well - one of my favourites from the 'Olde Sweet Shoppe' :) Statue is great especially with that blue sky as well - Lucky devil :)

Hope things are looking up a bit on the work front and not as serious as you thought

Love the lizard, I used to get real ones on my walls - but I don't tend to see them so often now - think the cats like them too :D I normally have a house gecko in the summer months too :D

Some really interesting stuff since I last visited  I love the old and battered doors  thought my favorite is the shell with the beads  If you want to borrow an ND110 for a little bit I've got a spare one, it's 67mm so you may need to get a step/step down ring but I'm happy to let you borrow it for a few weeks to play with

Thanks,Jake...it does look marginally better than the original :naughty::lol:

Seriously, nice tweak, thank you and I will be sending today's over shortly. ;)
