fergie said he didnt know why rooney would want to leave. i think its pretty obvious, utd arent the team they were back when they win the double, i cant see them winning much at all in the near future and i tink rooney wants to be part of a team who win tropheys, especially since thats what he got used to happening.

i love being right,
excerpts from rooneys statement:
During those meetings in August, I asked for assurances about the continued ability for the club to attract the top players in the world.
**For me it's always about wining trophies
united will have their eye on torres without a doubt. The next few months liverpool need to do a 180 and start winning else he'll easily be poached away
i could only see torres going back to spain
i'm not into footy never have been, never will do, but surely he will go wherever the wages will be best, after all he is self employed?
What a strange first post - Ferguson is that you?
......far better than not knowing why he isn't performing this season IMO

why is it strange?, hes gonna go where the cash is, surely.

I don't really get the whole whoohar either, particularly holloways reaction which was very amusing given his west country accent.
At the end of the day rooney is an employed man doing a job. He wants to do it somewhere else for whatever reason. No matter what it is, it's his choice.
Holloway talks more sense than the rest of them put together,if you analyse what he says rather than making West Country Yokel insinuations you might learn something
(And no I am not from the West Country)

I only seen some of the interview tbh but my first impression was Idiot
it has nothing to do with him, yes he has an opinion but no one will know what went on behind closed doors at Man U
Remember the likes of Beckham, Van Nistlerooy? there will be something happened behind closed doors that we will probably never find out
Rooney IMO is right with what he mentioned to about not matching his ambition, they seem to be on a downward spiral ATM and they haven't bought any world class player since the sale of Ronaldo
Rooney, although a I hate the bloke, is a brilliant footballer. He went to Manchester Utd with a vision of what his future would be, and for a number of reasons, the job isn't what was on the "job spec".
He was going into a team, at the top of it's league in one of the most competitive leagues in the World. He expected the club to go on from there, to continue rivalling the likes of Real Madrid & Barca. In truth, he's seen less investment in the club, his main strike partner has left, and now Chelsea look like they will dominate for a few years, plus Man City are also "on par" with their rivals across town.
He doesn't like what he sees for the future and wants to get out while he can, plus he knows that his Manager will be on his way soon, who has been a mentor for him in the last 6 years. In effect, he has out grown the club.
Where could he go ? Well Man Utd won't sell him to an English club, so I personally reckon that if he does go he'll end up in Madrid. He likes the Manager, the Manager likes him, he can pair up with his old strike partner and it is the most successful club in the world.
And I'm a Gooner, so have no real interest in him, but I think moving to Spain will make him a better player and will do his International career nothing but good.
Steve
Firstly Rooney was a brilliant footballer and the jury is out as to wether or not he will ever be that good again and secondly he has OUTGROWN the club, please Man Utd is bigger and will remain bigger than Rooney will ever be.
Players come and go but the club goes on.In addition Rooney is typical of many modern youngsters let alone footballers, when the going gets tough they try to get out.
And I am not a Utd fan in any way shape or form
If you watch the whole interview Holloway is commenting on the Rooney situation but his rant against the administrators of world football who have allowed the Bosman and Webster rulings to stand, they are the lunacy that have lead to the situation we now have whereby Rooney and others can dictate where and when they can move irrespective of what their existing club has done for them

thats a falicy. United are a business they are there to make money and are massively in debt. They'll sell to the club that has the highest offer that suits them, they aren't going to cut of their nose to spite their face.
Yes they are a business, and in business you do not sell your major assets to a direct competitor. Selling Rooney to another UK club (well Chelsea or City) will put Utd even further behind them, it doesn't make good business sense unless they pay well over the odds so you can get a better or multiple replacements.
City have more strikers than the rest of the Prem League put together, and he'll never be able to have a night out in Manchester if he went there. Chelsea have got an excellent strike force already, I'd rather have Drogba than Rooney in my side. If he went to Chelsea they would have problems with Drogba and/or Anelka.
Madrid is the obvious move, for both clubs and Rooney...
