Yup all the time!

I like this too and think it's fine for the theme

Why thank you :)

Hi Rob, I'm ashamed to say this is the first time I've managed a visit to your 52 - but I've really enoyed the journey so far. :) I also think that with the hours you work, you deserve a medal just for getting ideas about shots, never mind getting the shots themselves.

Some of my favourites are the Poetry theme (both the photo and the poem - excellent) the Lego men, (how much patience can one man have!) and the lambs for Play (although I was a little worried when I read your comment starting "Read what people had to say and decided to butcher ... " I was expecting the next shot to be a plate of lamb chops.

and to catch up:

Chemistry - this shot works really well, and I think it's largely down to your excellent processing. The noise is nicely judged and, tbh, I didn't spot the spot until John drew my attention to it. :D So what if you've got the Crowbar of the Week Award - it's still a good shot.

Jean

Jean thanks so much for taking the time to not only comment but review my other offering too !! Sadly time isn't always on my side but when I get a chance I try to cram as much into it as I can (family, chores, photography the list goes on). I'm guilty of not visiting as many 52's as I'd like these past two weeks but intend to make amends later on this week. Re the lambs, I actually wanted to take them home and keep them as pets :cuckoo:

Chemistry - I like that quite a lot actually, especially the processing. It interests me - nicely done!

Appreciate the comment Nick, thanks.

Oh and here it is with the bright spot removed

Second one works better with the spot removed. Love the 'gritty' feel to the photo (no pun intended...!). Well done..

Yep :agree: much better without the Spot... nice edit Rob

Better not come over again then LOL (did not mean that really ) as the kites were actually sitting in the garden yesterday but as usual the camera was elewhere.

They are very active at the mo, building nests etc and I am feeding them everday so it seems they like that, pheasant on the menu today as I have a freezer full we shot in the winter.

Chemistry - what happened to the wifes bottles then did you give up on that idea?
I have yet still to do that one:thinking:

Thanks for dropping by hun

With regards the bottles It's become apparent I loathe shooting indoors using artificial light.

Week 11 Candid

What a week !! Historically I should now be getting quieter at work  It's not happening !

Anyway, yesterday I got to indulge my other interest - The Cold War (don't ask) and spent the day at Hack Green wandering the bunker and listening to some VERY clever people give mini lectures on the policitcal, social and psycological effects of the War. To say the people who turn up to these things are an eclictic bunch would be an understatement, suffice to say there were a lot of guys with ponytails wearing olive green and driving Landovers

There was also this guy, I was fixated !! I had to stop photographing him as I think was starting to worry him ;)

4450217040_1f3a929aa0_o.jpg

Straight from camera with a little (too much) NR applied. I'm going to have a play in PS later but right now I'm getting the family rounded up as were off to my Nannas 90th Birthday celebrations. I will be taking the camera and who knows this chap my be replaced with a shot my wonderful, amazing and unstoppable Nan later this evening.

Thanks for looking and I'll be back later to look in awe at others work.
Have a great day - the suns out

A couple of really good weeks from you Rob

I don't know why, but I just love your chemistry shot.
The subject and the PP work perfectly together . . . and although a shot of a sign saying "eye bath" really shouldn't be very interesting, somehow it is
I prefer the edit with the light spot removed, but it really didn't bother me that much to start with.

Candid : What an odd looking man !!!!
I can understand why you were fixated, I can't stop looking at him either.
Technically it's a very good shot, but it's that character that makes it . . . I don't want to sound rude, but he really is fascinating

Great shot love the lighting but - I really find him eerie:shrug: don't know why:shrug: sort of wizardry about him:eek:

agree, he does look a character.. great lighting and nice and sharp.. he's a wonderful subject!

Great shot with loads of character - he is indeed a strange looking man:)

 A much better idea - and so muc more photogenic than a plate of chops. :D ;)

Candid: I would have wanted to keep shooting him too. :D How fascinating. I'd love to see the original, without the NR done, because I think it would also work as a gritty b&w. Definitely the sort of characterful face you need for a Candid.:clap::clap:

Time in the bunker was clearly well spent, Rob.

Jean

Love that Candid shot. Looks so clean it could have been done in a studio. Reminds me of one of the Dr Who's. :D

Praise indeed, thanks Sarah, I really do appreciate you taking time to visit and comment as you do, it amazes me how you manage to visit so many 52's!!
My chemistry shot appears to have a certain something as everyone seems to like it but can't say why (I'm in the same boat)
Candid - he was just weird, simple as that. (There, I've been rude) I really hope he turns up to some of the other visits I have planned this year, I may try and strike up a conversation.

He was rilly freaky !! But at the same time exceptionally photogenic, I think he was also sporting mascarra at the start of the day but I can't be sure !

Thanks Jean, I felt awful when I first saw him, my immediate reaction was to grab my camera and shoot !! I'll sling a few variations including the ordiginal up later. Always love spending time in Bunkers - (I have my own :cuckoo:)

WOW !! Thanks a lot. I think he'd have made a better 'baddie' ;)

What a great shot, candid and so full of character

Thanks chap, will admit to being quite pleased with it myself.

I usually bin the ones that don't get chosen as my submission but because my Mum and Wife are in this one I kept it.

The original shot of Dr. No as well as some other uncropped edits can be seen here:

My 52

Really at a loss this week and now 10000000000000% decided I hate 'flash' (or indoor or whatever it's called) photography, give me natural light any day. Ideally I'd have liked to have shot this in something like a chicken house but time and the lack of a chicken house meant I had to break out the homemade light tent thingy. It's far from perfect but I'm not going to have any time for the remainder of this week to even think about photography. I also can't choose between the two :bang:

Marmite cereal bars??????? :cuckoo: ugh!

First one definitely, the tighter crop makes the image much more interesting. The second one looks like some still that I would shoot :D. No seriously, the room around the top and at the bottom is a bit distracting in my opinion.
Interesting shot though!

(BTW, I love the Eyebath shot)

Jeeeez... Somebody likes marmite :D

Really good shot, i like the first of the 2 though. Also your Candid shot is very good. made me laugh, well done

Really clever produce, I love the concept. Pic 1 for me definitely.

It's my first post on your 52, sorry its taken so long but there are so many to go through!

Personally, while I like the shot, the eyebath does nothing for me but the candid is great, you could wait for ever to find such a character! I'm quite tempted to come to the next meet just to take photos of him, although I think he would get a little worried...

As I said at the top, marmite is great, such a clever use of theme.

Keep up the great work

Number #1 gets my vote with it's 'slightly' tighter framing.

However, more to the point, where would one need to shop to get their hands on Marmite Cashews?! Er yummy yum yum!

They're lush !!

Trouble is you can't (well I can't) open a bag and just have a few, addictive doesn't come even close !!

(Tesco)

If you strike out, pm me your addy and I'll send an aid parcel)

Rob, You could have bought them over to use the chicken house but could not guaranteee there would be any left to shoot after I got my hands on them:D and the chickens probably liked them as well

No 1 for me great shot great theme Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I would eat marmite anytime, anywhere, anyplace:naughty:

Lovely colours very sharp and just fills the frame (and the belly )

Marmite Cashews can be bought in Asda (if there are any left )

I love Marmite and I love your first shot. Excellent. I didn't know they did all those things in Marmite flavour.

I think the extra white space spoils the bottom one a little.

Well done with this theme.

Thanks to you all for your comments (you have no idea how encouraging it is)

I'm going to have to have another crack at editing the Produce shot as I like the glimps of the jar lid but agree with you all that the tighter crop works best.

For the record, the cereal bars are disgusting !!

Thanks a million  (I think your chickens would eat anything)

Marmite Cashews are heavenly !!

Although the little cheeses come a close second.

Guess where I'm going on my way into work :D

Nice one Rob. Was just talking to the wife the other day as she packed the shopping basket with pretty much everything in your photo about how Marmite have really cemented their brand. Marmite tea anyone?

As another non-photography aside, you don't want to put marmite near chickens. Our birds LOVE the stuff. On toast, cereal bars, rice cakes.

I like your week 12 shot. On theme, and well taken. Nice composition (prefer #2 but there's not a lot between them to be honest). Lighting is good considering all the glass and shiny plastic.

Lovely!

Ian.

OMG - I love Marmite, but that's taking it to the extreme!

Really like this concept, and have to agree with the others about #1 being my favourite of the 2 shots.

so, any luck ?

Thanks Ian, it was a horrible thing to set up and shoot but I'm surprised at the results.

My word what a lot of different Marmite produce there is... a very interesting idea, and well taken I like it... I too prefer the tighter crop in 1.

As for making your own lighting, I felt exactly the same way last year and really struggled with it whenever I had to try and work something with flash... However, I'm not going to say I've got it sussed, but this year I'd like to think I'm understanding it better, and the 52 certainly helped with that.

Both candids work for me, Rob.
That bloke is so interesting to look at, isn't he?
Well spotted, well captured.
The shot of the ladies in your life is a super capture. Looks like they're watching the Chippendales:lol:

Marmite: super product, super idea, super shot. I'm another who prefers the tighter crop in #1. Great composition and sharpness and you've really got those colours to sing out.

I can't help thinking that either of the two shots would have been helped by a stick of explosive blowing the nasty stuff to smithereens.

Seriously, I prefer the first shot even though it makes me shudder.

Mike

blughhhhhh, nasty salty malty pasty stuff, you can keep it in the tubes n tubs n stuff.
cracking shot though, really vibrant and i think 1 is my favourite as it fills more of the screen.

Well I did warn people it was a marmite shot ;)
Thanks for dropping in and taking the time to comment. I'm starting to lean towards #1 myself now.

Great Marmite shots - and like everyone else number one is my favourite.

Eye fank ewe

WOW!! Thanks Rob. (If this level of 'praise' continues I'll end up feeling confident!)

Sorry Mike, I did put a warning in the thread title ;)
