Seriously why? What do you hope to achieve by mourning someone who is a "celeb"/famous politician (eg winehouse / williams / Mandela) either here, another forum or on facespace.... other than trying to get a few "likes" and help you with your own insecurity....
Sorry but just don't see the point...
"Oh how I will miss you...." really?
You know what's sad, I have a feeling that because Lynton posted that original no sympathy blah blah thread, any RIP threads now will head the same way and people posting 'so what' posts in them.. Not good!
Please don't pick on or insult my dead 'V' ..thank you![]()

Couldn't agree more!. If you can't find shred of human compassion in your heart for a man who - in spite of being rich/famous/talented - was clearly unwell and who I now understand had also been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease as well, then really, something has gone very wrong somewhere. Some people need to take a long hard look at themselves ....
do some people really not have anything else worth worrying about other than people posting RIP messages online?

and how exactly does posting "RIP Robin you'll be missed" on a photo forum (or facebook) show human compassion for the man ? - its not like he, or his close family, are going to be reading it
Lyntons point wasnt that he doesnt feel compassion for Robin Williams - it was that he doesnt need to brag about feeling compassion for him (or any other dead celebrity) by making it public on facebook ec, or for that matter acting as though its a huge personal loss of the same scale as losing a family member.
IMO the people who need to take a long hard look at themselves are the ones who are using the death of someone with whom they had no personal connection as an ego driven mission to demonstrate how compassionate/grief stricken/emotional they are (and gain likes/freinds etc) - of course that doesnt apply to everyone but it definitely applies to some
And Lynton could ha\/e just kept out of the thread and let those that want to show there compassion do so without 'crap posts' ......... seems a polite thing to do IMO!
It has nothing to do with likes/friends and some such nonsense, that in itself is just a ridiculous thing to e\/en think...
As already been said some people just like to post to cause sh5t... don't they?!
so lynton isnt allowed to express his opinion then (not withstanding that when asked he did set up a new thread for the discussion - this one - which was promptly hijacked into being yet another rip robin thread).
the point of the wider discussion was 'why' do people want to show their compassion, and as pertinently who do the think they are showing it to ? ( and if its not about likes/freinds etc why do so many people jump on every RIP bandwagon like so many sheep - not so much here, but on facebook someone could make up a celeb to start an RIP about and you'd get people bleating about 'how much he meant to them'
Of
You say e\/eryone is entitled to an opinion yet you put down anyone that wants to show compassion.... infact probably the biggest instigator in the RIP full stop.....
If any bleating is being done here it is by you and few that choose not too
I'm not putting down anyone who wants to show compassion - what i'm saying is making an RIP post is an empty gesture and doesnt show compassion in any meaningful way- as i said earlier if anyone wants to 'show compassion' to Mr Williams and his family by all means do so - but make it meaningful and tangible , don't just hit post and feel like you've 'done something'
Its also deeply offensive and insulting to suggest that either Lynton or I don't have compassion - just because we don't feel the need to tell the world about it.
That is actually quite laughable, at no point ha\/e i suggested yourself or Lynton ha\/e no compassion
cg Girl said:If any bleating is being done here it is by you and few that choose not too
theres some heartless bastards around thats for sure
R.I.P compassion cos clearly its died in here for some people.
what is insulting though is calling people who post R.I.P comments basically attention whores
um
Bottom line if someone wants to post an RIP thread then yes I totally agree that's their choice - if Lynton, or I, or anyone else wants to express an opinion about it then that's our choice ( Although I agree its more courteous to do it on a separate thread like this than in the RIP thread) , I don't expect you to agree with me, but it would be nice if we could debate the topic at hand without getting into school yard behaviour all the time)
Again where is such behaviour? I've seen no school yard stuff here ... Unless you can see invisible posts ?
What I've said is entirely true and on topic Pete.
Please don't pick on or insult my dead 'V' ..thank you![]()
sigh - if you say so
(the school yard stuff is in the pathetic way you disagree with whatever I say ... if I'd declared that RIP threads were great you'd be arguing that Lynton was the one true god .) I'm done with this pointless argument - I'm off to take some pictures
