Normally I don't give a **** about celebrity deaths, but I am genuinely saddened by Neil Armstrong's death. Nowadays people use the word "hero" all too easily, but to me the 12 moonwalkers were the real deal.
Armstrong proved his mettle in a Gemini spacecraft, saving his and Dave Scott's life. Listening to the audio of the approach and landing of the Eagle, where he had to contend with 1201 and 1202 program alarms, showed the whole world how cool he was under duress.
Yes this man was a real, genuine, inspiring hero, and it's very very rare that I think thay about anyone.
A sad day indeed.
