RIP Classifieds?

Eye wood butt err spell chequer said it was ok.

Do you really wish to play spelling and grammar poker?

You might consider a little sentence structure before pointing out a typo simply because you're annoyed by someone's (rather accurate, it would appear) post.

51%... Must try harder.

It's also daft that it's posts based, so a lot of questions or negotiations will affect the number of posts

For every post in classifieds just post a moan in another section about it. Sorted.......
Or, maybe as is intended, it actually encourages users to get involved in the community. I'm good either way :D

Admittedly it can be tough on the stats when tyre kickers ask a bunch of questions and those who've no intention of buying pass inane comments. A simple sales post can soon become a couple of pages worth.

Should be nothing in comparison to other activity on the site I would have thought...

In an ideal world where we all have lots of time, you're right.
I really don't get that argument, so you have time to be in the classifieds but not to be anywhere else? Sounds like craigslist or ebay are perfect for you then....Lots of great apps for ebay on a mobile phone where you can do the whole process whilst on the move in your busy life.

Sounds like someone just wants a free sale site :-)

I posted this elsewhere on the forum but seems apt to repeat it here as well

I still find the time to partake elsewhere on the forum and manage, quite easily I might add, to keep within the new classifieds guidelines.

It really is not that hard to do so either

The Classifieds haven't died, but the drop-off as the dealers have left has been significant. The balance between Offered and Wanted has also changed. It seems to be just as effective at its intended purpose as it was before, but the way that effectiveness is delivered has changed slightly.

I rarely sell anything anywhere TBH,
But recently I did use eBay to sell something sold for £55 Free P&P came out at just over 4 quid,
Ebay fees £5.50 and a couple of quid PP fees,
No wonder TP classifieds is so attractive to the regular sellers Eh? ;)

I did see the pictures, and yes nice, but a bit small for my tastes,
Stick it on Ebay, I'm sure someone will want it
:D

To quote a Jack S**t cartoon from Bike magazine back in the '80s (possibly '70s...) "Have you got anything faster in pink?"

I understand why it was done but sure it does affect the amount of interest those sale items get
I also think new people to the forum cannot get involved in the access to good kit route which they would benefit from.

Nah - mostly it's time of the year, lack of cash, plus how much kits do people actually want?

So this isn't the thread to go if you're looking for a headstone?

This isn't the thread you're looking for - move along

No, it's unrealistic pricing that does that. Price an item right and the classifieds will get you all the interest you need.

There are at least two sale threads at the moment where the asking price is still higher than the dealer/manufacturer price for a used/refurbished identical item in as-good or better condition than the one on offer, with a warranty. And that's after one or two reluctant reductions from the original asking price from the thread starter to encourage a sale.

I used to have the bigger version, know an old neck snapper.
I moved that on as it truly was going to kill me.

it was lovely but 1.2 litres in a 80s frame with wooden brakes and it cornered like a puppy on a lead.

Not that bothered to be honest.
What is interesting though is how this forum appears to be a lot more argumentative that others. It always descends into some kind of slanging match or fight for no apparant reason. Your snide comment above very much proves the point, and I can't quite understand why it happens. Having been on meets and met members, I've had a great time, but quite why every thread has to turn nasty is beyond me

I don't appreciate your tone, sarcasm, nor your inferences. I actually wasn't referring to me but sympathising with others. I personally have no problem with my trading stats.

Noted, your choice on what to appreciate or not...Doesn't change the situation though....Its very simple, the rule is contribute and you can sell free of charge, don't and you won't....Simples...

42 and 51. Hmm.

I'll keep looking for a headstone.

It does make you wonder, huh? Good spot, Ken. So dejongj has now limited his profile but if I'm to understand this right, he(she) has over 9k posts and a trading stat of 51% and is suggesting regular TP members use Craigs List and the likes instead? You couldn't make it up.

Not Dejongi, he's on 1%.

I like being first :)

PS. Kendo's post edited to reflect that the profile doesn't actually specify a percentage :P

Everyone is a regular member, there are no special ones  Well not unless you know where to leave the Jaffa Cakes....This is not some personal vendetta, surely the Admin and Mod team make transparent rules such that they are ahem transparent and applicable to all...

Given your percentage, why the whine?

Agreed. I'm as a confused as a confused thing now, so I'll bow out of this one. My input was simply that as usual, get a few tyre kickers, and a simple sales thread can spiral out of control re. your stats, therefore giving a slightly skewed view of your profile.
