having sex (of any variety) is a choice, but sexual orientation isnt determined by whether you have sex - its possible to be gay and celibate, just like its possible to be straight and celibate.

actually if we are talking about nonces i'm with steve here - I'd perefer to shoot them behind the ear as death is more certain than in the face but thats a minor consideration.

However the placement of Steves 'shoot all the deviants' post, straight after snooky's 'enlightened' offering, made it appear he was talking about homosexuals - and i'm not up for that, homosexual congress doesnt appeal to me , but between consenting adults its not deviant or depraved (any more than heterosexual sex is ... if you think about it clinically either could be quite disgusting to an univolved onlooker)
 
I'm convinced people who bang on about homosexuality being a choice must be very insecure in their sexuality. Probably repressed homosexuals themselves. It's the only way I can explain their belief that someone can just choose to be gay or straight. They feel like they fancy people of the same gender but "choose" to act as heterosexuals so they think that's how it must work for everyone.

I certainly don't feel like I could just choose to become homosexual, because I have no sense of attraction to people of my gender.

I can think of many people who chose to live a heterosexual life (publically) in previous decades for fear of thier homosexuality being exposed.
Racking my brain trying to remember a single case of the reverse.

You really can't compare homosexuality with paedophilia.
Homosexuality, whilst distasteful to some (minority these days, I'd say) is becoming as acceptable as hetero...and rightly so. If you're of consenting age who gives a rat's?
Paedophilia on the other hand....Well for a start there can be no consent.
Plus, I don't care what your primal urges are, you're a grown up...if you act on them you deserve to never feel the sun on your skin again.
Just my personal opinion, of course.

What consenting adults do for their sexual kicks doesn't bother me so long as I don't witness it

If that means you and I agree then holy moly I do not know what happened there

You don't ask a 'question' like that without it actually being more of a veiled statement or assumption. Again, ask me a real question and I'll answer it, until then leave the semi-antagonistic 'questions' out of it.

It was a real question. I put a "?" at the end of it. I am confused by this hostile post. My question was no less antagonistic than your use of the word "weird" in reference to opinions being voiced on the thread. It was a wholly justified question you've evaded to answer.

Okay. When I see posts saying things along the lines of liking the sausage is a choice, in 2014, I find it weird. Not only weird but it also demonstrates a complete ignorance of what are generally believed to be fairly well grounded scientific principles. I don't find any opinions that differ from mine weird, I never implied that in any way and it was utterly stupid of you to have that impression enough to ask the question - stupid to the point that I can't believe it was actually put forward as a genuine question by anyone with anything vaguely resembling intelligence.
