Yes
I struggle to get off to sleep sometimes but I find music helps.

Floydy Echoes type stuff, Brian Eno's An Ending sort of stuff, Classical, Trance, sounds of the sea or even Thrash can have a hypnotic vibe that helps.

Running over the same old ground, What have we found ?

Off to bed now but looking for something new - I was just wondering what other folk 'use' to melt away to ?

Tangerine Dream!!

Fracster and U8myufo. That pair o' clowns always send me to sleep. Boring gits that they are:gag::p:D

Morcheeba and Portishead used to do it for me. Nowadays, I use earplugs and pretend I'm a pilot of a space craft ... I have little imagination, so soon bore myself to sleep thinking of the blackness of space :D

One that is guaranteed to work is Discreet Music by Brian Eno.

Manuel Gottersching, (Ashra) E2-E4)

Micheal Rother, Katzenmusic.

Neuronium, Digital Dream.

Im one of those strange people that find metal really relaxing, so if I were in your shoes id probably pick something like Machine Head, Slayer, fear Factoy or Sepultura (Arise)

Thanks folks

I've got most of the above so will add them to my list

Foo Fighters 'Skin & Bones' is a beautiful album, a live recording from a theatre tour where it's altogether calmer and more melodic than the usual stuff version (which I love). Just make a playlist without the last song, Best of You, which is a bit energetic for sleep time!

Cheers

Nirvana Unplugged was one of my favourites for years.

Katie Melua's 'Nine Million Bicycles' CD and I bet you dont even get to hear the end of the first track very often.

Good album, most music of that sort is good for bedtime, same for the Carpenters music.

My favourite for complete relaxation is Lisa Gerard's 'Mirror Pool'.....yes I know, each to their own:)

how about Jean Michelle Jarre? Other half dragged me to the royal albert hall to see him a couple of years ago, I nodded off about 8 times! ;)

I also like to listen to audio books that I am really familiar with (i.e. it doesn't matter that you are going to fall asleep!) - stops me overthinking things.

Try looking up Andy McKee - guitar, if that doesn't help you go to sleep not much will...

Cheers folks

I can't check them all out every night but I'm certainly keeping tabs on the thread

I used to listen to this at night all the time, i don't have it anymore though

That can be changed tho. PM me if you want some.

This. ^^^

I've listened to this many times while laying in bed. Beautifully relaxing :)

I was just finishing off some work on the PC before Ryan (my 2 year old) came down.

I had this thread open when I called it a day and knocked off for Christmas.

I'm typing one handed as Ryan has just melted off to sleep to this on my lap (y):angelic:

I'd agree with Air. Another good one, for me at least, is Cocteau Twins' "Heaven or Las Vegas" album. Some of the tracks such as Fifty-fifty clown / Road, river and rail / Frou-frou foxes in midsummer fires are very nicely relaxing, and just wash right over you.

Get an internet radio, and stream "sleepbot".

I also constantly have the sound of rain, surf, and gentle thunder streaming into the bedroom. I genuinely sleep better as a result.
