My main problem is I wear spectacles for short-sightedness, so I'm OK seeing at distance, and i'm OK with a diopter-adjusting viewfinder but I can't focus properly 1-2 feet away with them on, so i find myself perching them on the end of my nose trying to stop them falling off all the while tilting, rotating and trying to focus the cameara to what I want in the frame. I need more arms clearly.

I've run a couple of films through it this week and i'll dob them in for processing tonight, but i've no idea even if both the lenses are focussed the same yet!

You'll probably end up with a better photo than the rest of us! :D

Having recently had the need to wear specs for mild short sightedness, I can emphasise a little although at least I can have mine sat properly on my nose!!........have to confess I still wait until I'm straining with a severe headache and eye strain before I'll back down to wearing em though...nuts or what?!!:D

It's the back-to-front viewfinder that confuses me. I end up swaying left and right like some kind of lush! :P

Ha ha, I know what you mean, I was like that when I started using my Bronica for the first time, almost gave myself motion sickness a few times trying to get the horizon spot on.

I showed some of the guys at work today the Recesky that I built and they couldn't believe it cost less than a tenner to buy and build. Hopefully get my shots done tomorrow lunchtime.

Poll is open on the entries thread guys.

Thanks to those who took part both in the challenge and those who simply involved themselves in building the kit camera and showing some of their results on here.

Poll is open on the entries thread guys......You can vote for as many entries as you wish including yourself if that takes your fancy!

I still haven't found my viewing lens but TBH I don't think it'll make much difference so bring on the February Recesky challenge

I've scanned in both my test films now and (as well as the 'construction' entry) posted a few of them below with some 'observations'. The first couple are from a Ferrania Solaris film and the last 3 Kodak Colourplus (both Poundland stock).

I was quite surprised the main lens focus matched the viewfinder focus on the first go, and the central detail is pretty sharp. I had the stopped down aperture fitted which presumably increases the DOF slightly, it will be interesting to try the next film with it removed.

The amount of viginetting seems to vary, some shots it's only just visible but others are viginetted all to merry hell. I think this may be the scanner compensating for variations in exposure though, all the shots seemed to be underexposed but thats to be expected with 200 film, overcast days and the stop-down ring.

These shots have been touched up in Picassa for negative dust but otherwise unmolested.

Some strange lens-flare effects when shooting into the sun.

Yay! Multi-exposure!

I got a couple of light leaks (not pictured) probably a result of squeezing the case funny.

Overall it's been a fun experience and something I look forward to repeating, hopefully when the sun comes out and I can get the most out of the film.

I love that first shot Adrian - your results are much sharper than mine!

Dunno your shot up into the trees looks pretty sharp in the centre, about equal to what I was getting, did you have the aperture in?

I don't know if I did, you know... what does the bit look like? I don't remember putting anything aperture-shaped in behind the lens...

Ah I might be mistaken, I'm talking about the aperture ring behind the main lens, On the first read-through I got the impression that this was optional and you could leave it out if you wanted more light and narrower DOF. But thinking about it now, if you leave it out the main lens is going to sit further back and mess up the focusing. Derp.

A very close draw with the voting then ...3 winners!! lol with a very close runner up!

What are we doing guys?, are we trying for another theme...possibly ( hopefully) more people will become involved along with the ones who completed this first challenge.

Theme??....who wants to decide??

Do we keep it to one shot again or is there a wish to post several results??

Come forward with your ideas.....as always I'll go with the flow.

I'd like to do this again! Theme-wise, maybe something reflecting the (hopefully) improving weather... nature shots, or "spring"?

Sounds good to me, how about the best 3 shots from a Spring roll?

I'd like to do this again! "?

Only cos you came runner up and want to see the rest of us struggle to obtain another shot from this plastic piece of **** with failing eyesight, arthritic fingers and back problems :D :D

All part of the fun, or at least that's what I try convince myself!

Chicken or veg? :P

LMAO........probably get a better pic out of one tbh ....piece o' plastic at one end, film at the other.:D

Does someone else wish to take this on board and start a new thread for the 2nd recesky challenge and maybe open another poll for the theme if there is a selection of ideas.

I don't mind doing it but only fair that everyone has a chance at being "in the drivers seat".

^^ Exactly, got to have a chance at redeeming myself :P

I don't mind opening the poll up, shall we get some other ideas for a theme first?

Ok that's cool......I'll have to give some thought to what theme to suggest.

Maybe something will come to me whilst out jogging!

"Spring" might be a bit optimistic.... I'll chuck in "weather" as another option.
