Hopefully will have time to get mine built this weekend :D

Are we to see a pic of the finished article Nick or are you still trying to master stage one of the instruction manual?! :D

Still struggling to get the box open, I was supposed to be winding down for Christmas and I just seem to be getting busier.

Are you back in France or are you still in Blighty? Will you be able to make it back for the film meet in Greenwich?

Back home matey...with my agfa vista film (thank you very much )

Definetly back in the UK in May, possibly a little earlier around Easter time but not before I'm afraid......shame as never been to Greenwich!

I may cause you to become even more occupied as I was thinking of a 616/116 camera format challenge too if enough folk are interested......you will need to have a 616/116 format camera mindst:D

Anyway, back to the Recesky .... you will receive daily pestering from me until you are up and running!!:D :D

Took a load of pics with mine in the woods today - hope they come out ok. Focusing on the Recesky is a bit of a challenge!

Good on ya!

I need to put another film in mine and go on the hunt for construction related shots for this challenge.

When I took the test shots, I didn't find focusing too difficult tbh.....I reckon you may fall lucky with your results seeing as the camera has an aperture of F/11 you have a little bit of lee way for focus error.

I'm expecting a lot of out-of-focus shots. However quite a few were landscapey, so maybe I got away with it :P

Built my camera tonight. The shutter count isn't great but I think I can fix it with some thick tape applied to the back over the sprocket hole gear.

Excellent!....Good to have another member on board.

Hope everyone eat n drunk plenty n had a merry Christmas! How's everyone getting on with the challenge? Ive just not had the chance to take mine out! Will have to get my backside into gear n get out between now n New Year!

I think quite a few of us may be in need of kicking our rear ends.....Although I have been out and about shooting film, I haven't yet put another film in the Recesky since the test shots.....and New year is only just around the corner!!

Ran some expired Kodak Gold 400 through my camera the other day and got the results back today. Quite a quirky camera...

Some nice results....looks like you got the film/shutter counter sorted ok....seems that is a minor problem with the recesky where the film sprockets run over the teeth of the gearing.

Other than that, it's not a bad little "toy" camera.

Yeah. I used shiney tape and taped some thick paper on the back over the sprocket gear. This seems to work well. I've seen people use masking tape but I'm not sure that would stand the test of time.

Just a little bump....

As there are no entries posted for this challenge yet ( me included i'm afraid although I may have a shot in camera!), do we look at extending the closing date??..............if so, then how much more time do we add??

How about another couple of weeks? Happy to go with the crowd though :D

Hello first post!

I just built one of these things after being inspired by this thread and thought it would be a bit of fun, only now i've put it all together the shutter is sticking open until i release the lever slightly, it seemed to work fine until I put the top and back on. bah.

Anyway, i'll strip it down again tonight and loosen thing up a bit, I haven't seen anywhere suggesting using any kind of lubricant on the moving parts has anyone tried this?

Cheers, Ady.

Hello Adrain,

Welcome to the f&c section of TP!

Good to see we've already inspired you.....perhaps enough to enter a shot into this challenge?

Haven't heard of anyone using lubricant s on the Recesky.

I had shutter issues whilst in the construction stage....it seems there is very little margin for error in the set up.....evr so slightly to loose and the shutter won't fire, ever so slightly too tight and you get your problem of sticking open.

Looks to me like you will need to strip it down again, or at least enough to gain access to the shutter mech.....darned shame now you have it completed.

As for the challenge, I'll be moving the entry closing date to later in the month, possibly by a couple of weeks like RaglanSurf suggests if that works for everyone else, so you will hopefully still have plenty of time to join in if you wish.

A few of my images from my woodland walk! Not on topic for the competition, unfortunately:

Good to see you're up, running, tested and ready for the challenge shot Charlotte......I am drawn very much to the b&w conversion shot in the link of the woodland reflected in water along with the first shot on here of the lone figure heading into the woods.

The CLOSING DATE for entries has been AMENDED and is now planned for:

23:59 hours Sunday 20th January 2013

I managed to get it working again by loosening the middle rotating part (shear?) screw very slightly. I think there is a bit of play in the shutter lever and that was causing it to jam.

I've stuck a roll of Poundland Kodacolour 200 in it so we'll see what comes out.

I'm hoping it's reliable now, I used to have an LC-A about 25 years ago, the shutter would only open one in every 10 shots.
Cheers Asha, will deforest backside into gear n get out with my Recesky!
And I read that as 'defrost'

I know I'm way behind everybody else but it's been a bit busy.

So I'm building the plastic fantastic and I have a shutter question.

My shutter opens on the up stroke of the shutter lever, is this normal?

Nope!....sounds to me like you've got the mech back to front somehow.

Wouldn't think it matters so much if it fires at about 1/100 although may feel a bit wierd when put to use.

Whoops, weve blundered here Nick.....these postings belong in the discussion thread :bang:....this thread is for entry pics only!!

Perhaps a mod would be kind enough to move them  :help: ;)

Seems good light is needed to get a reasonable shot from the recesky.

Most of the negs from the last film have come out very thin :(

Nonetheless, mangaged to get a suitable result for the challenge

b****r!

I actually learned something - didn't realise I could move individual posts in a thread from one to another... every day's a school day I guess

Good to see a couple of entries.....don't forget less than a week for the rest of you who are interested in joining in.

@Nick.....the lens and shuuter frustrations didn't stop you then???...good to see!....Btw is that part of your head in the top of the shot?!!!! lol

I had no idea what I was pointing the camera at and no idea whether it was in focus or not, there is another version of my 'construction' shot without my head in shot but I think it makes it a bit more amusing

Also, I have resurrected my tour of Europe, will you be around 2nd week of Feb?

Have to confess I took several "construction" shots and found myself at all sorts of physical angles and positions trying to see what I was composing in the viewer.......then again today was out in the rain searching for "reflection in puddle" shots fot the treasure hunt challenge.....that also found me in peculiar physical positions!!.lol

As for Feb, yes we'll be here Nick if you wish to call by......the sofa bed always available for a night or two if you wish!

Sounds like you may fall a week too early for the local Carnaval....be a shame if you miss it.....take a look here

My main problem is I wear spectacles for short-sightedness, so I'm OK seeing at distance, and i'm OK with a diopter-adjusting viewfinder but I can't focus properly 1-2 feet away with them on, so i find myself perching them on the end of my nose trying to stop them falling off all the while tilting, rotating and trying to focus the cameara to what I want in the frame. I need more arms clearly.

I've run a couple of films through it this week and i'll dob them in for processing tonight, but i've no idea even if both the lenses are focussed the same yet!
