That's my point?
People come to get annoyed!

I can't get my head round the mentality of it.

Probably best not to try then :-)

To get annoyed & have a bit of a blow-out  ..........then all's calm in the real world.

Let's face it, if you can't get annoyed on here...... :D

Who's got a mental round head btw?
You trying to provoke someone?

I don`t like blondes as a rule Chris, but that is one canny bird.

Yep, I got sucked into the stagnant quagmire of those few individuals who seemingly could start and argument in a empty room or like to post in order to start a fracas :P as such now I try to ignore those people some with the aid of forum features others without and you know what it's made me much happier when I'm on the forum now, as a few months maybe 12 months ago I was giving very serious consideration to jacking in the forum and going off to pastures new

Now I only bother to get involved in OOF on a select few threads mostly the more banal type of thread

Phil

We're just a bunch of people who joined TP because we share an interest in photography, but most of us don't actually know each other beyond our 'stage' persona.

A lot of the threads on this forum are pretty light hearted, or just members asking for advice about various things; but some people have very strong opinions on certain subjects, and others have equally emphatic but opposing points of view. That's a pretty good facsimile of real life, which probably reflects our individual backgrounds and experiences, and we've all met people who just like to be provocative and/or 'win' every argument they get involved in. The internet also offers a degree of anonymity, and probably encourages this.

It doesn't bother me much. I tend to keep my opinions on a lot of the more controversial topics to myself, because I can't be bothered arguing with people I don't know and will never meet. It simply doesn't serve any purpose for me, and I'm not interested in posts that degenerate into personal insults. I just ignore them.

I think for me its not the content that goes on in here its more you can't seem to express an opinion on a subject without a small group of people being intent on shooting it down.

In fact sometimes its like witnessing a dogfight and that gets stale quick.

imo its not even necesarily people shooting opinions down - its the way in which its done - some topics are like a f*****g kindergarten only less pleasant
