Yes
I wont make any statement. You need to see this for yourself.

If there was an honest politician, the mayor should have been reported. Well out of order.

WTF is she saying ?

She said, "It would have been that result whatever it said".

It has been raised with the Electoral Commission.

Not the bleedin faintest!

As for the Brash fella, he's getting his eyes mixed up with his ears!

FFS. Look at 1 imin 16 seconds in and on wards. How could you miss that??

You've got the bloody cheek to criticize my senses.

Erm, the clip stops at 1 min 16 secs?

Throughout it sounds like "we're not here to stop it" whatever that means!

The offending words are at 45 secs in and repeated until the end.

Yer right I looked at the wrong time. the text starts at 48 seconds in.

The point I was trying to make (and presumably Doug) was that the spoken words are as near to the written words as flea in the air!

No they're not. It's quite clear what she says.

!
That's not the first time I've seen that clip, and
same here, I've never understood what she is saying,
she just mumbles something, could have been well done for all the sense it
made to me.

However if it was a fix, that brings just about every other election into doubt too.
But of course politics per se is not corrupt. so it couldn't possibly have happened that way.
Could it?

You'll be saying next that they don't know who voted which way ! ;)

Sorry…her words are clearly audible.

Certainly not to me or others it would seem.

Well it's all over the web and may more people seem to be able to hear what she is saying than not.

It would have bin that result whatever it said...pretty clear to me, though i admit, the northern accent might be more troublesome for some, than for those that hark from from the area. However, I can't help but think that it is being taken somewhat out of context rather than a demonstration of corruption, more like the mayor saying she was the deserved winner, even if she hadn't actually won. You would have to be pretty stupid to say such a thing in its most literal sense when you are miked up... wouldn't you?

As i've not seen it all over the web, listened to it a few times with the sound right up, and right down, and not looking at the screen,
its just gobledy gook to me.

Of course there is a band wagon to be jumped on, and people will follow like sheep.
(Just to be clear I am completely politically neutral to the point that I don't give a crap whether or not she did say it)
But its interesting from someone that truly doesn't care, its still in-audible

Just asked daughter, born, brought up and still lives about 12 miles south of heywood what she was saying, without her being able to see screen or thread.... she got "been that result whatever it said" Make of that what you will....

First time I've seen this and what I hear is :

"It would have been that result whatever it took" <shrug> but I suppose "said" makes more sense.

But exactly this.
Context is everything and I also would have interpreted it that way.

"Took" makes infinitely more sense to me! UKIP had called for a full recount and the lady mayor permitted a bundle recount.

You might if it was your constituency…but probably not.

There is no mistaking what she said. It is perfectly clear and I am from the area.

She is the Returning Officer and apparently not demonstrating impartiality. It may well be she was joking, but she should have had more sense.

That interpretation sounds just as bad as what she actually did say.

Perfectly clear what she said to us wot speaks the proper English.

You obviously have an advantage over me then,
it still sounds garbled mumbles to me and I still don't care whether she did or didn't (y)

I'm worried now. It was perfectly clear to me what she said.

Assuming best intentions, it was a remarkable display of very poor judgement on what to say.

I think she should stand down and made to pay for an impartial recount herself.

Silly woman.

I'm from the north, north east rather than north west, but the accent is not unfamiliar to me. Until the words appeared on the screen I could not make out what was being said. Now, unfortunately, I can't hear anything other than what the written words say. Wonder if anyone has asked the returning officer what she said.

Dave

You're right. People really shouldn't be allowed to make jokes any more.

Also, I'm not going to rely on the listening skills of somebody who can't spell Heywood.

I am from the area and i maybe it is the accent but its perfectly clear to me without the written word on screen to help ,very clear what she said.

just sounds to me like a personal joke/comment between a supporter and an MP. Are people seriously suggesting that no-one may notice if the major read the wrong result out?. I guess people are no longer able to make jokes

Yep. I lived for a long time in Bury which is close enough to be able to decipher it. Maybe it's changed but people used to be friendly there and make humorous remarks now and again. The internet will soon fix that.

Yes, I could not tie in what she was saying with what was printed on screen. I got the impression it was two different things.
I cannot get bothered about it. Seems like folk looking for snow when there is none falling.
