Project 52....by Kennysarmy + week 52 Texture

yes....taken on the bush.

Using a raynox 250 with my 430EX II flash attached to my 70-200 with a hairband lol and a diffuser fitted to just soften the flash a little...(as copied from somones rig in the "show us your macro rig" thread on here)

All three of the last weeks are very good. I agree about Exposed needing a little more space on the right. Mono is very different and works very well. Season is also very good.

Another vote for the pp on this shot it's superb. A great capture too, the girl does indeed look totally disenchanted with the world!

Well you've done it again !!!!!

Even, with an awful theme like grunge, you've managed to come up with something that really grabs the imagination and draws you into the photo :thumbs:

Great capture of their postures and the girl's expression is brilliant. Definitely a photo I want to keep going back to, wondering what they're doing, why they're hanging about outside a book? shop, what they're talking about etc etc

Processing is spot-on for both the subject matter and the theme. A very good week for you from all perspectives :clap:

Season... oh my, you gotta look at the larger sizes of this. It's really really good. DOF is amazing. I was wondering how you managed such a close shot and shallow DOF using f11 aperture at 70mm... then I read the raynox 250 bit! Excellent photo :thumbs:

Grunge - again, excellent. Both a street photo and grunge photo. The grittiness really really suit this, I love this shot. Super stuff from you again :thumbs:
 
The large 'on black' version takes this image into a different league - its great.

The gritty processing, the disaffected expression on the girls face, the lads 'grungey' jeans and haircut

Very, very strong image.

Not something I would ever have thought of doing but it works really well - in fact I'm stunned by how well it's worked!

I wish you hadn't told us that it was 5 images though . . . so far I can pick out 4 distinct ones (I think) but can't quite work out the 5th.
 
It's a very clever shot and I have nothing but respect for the work it must have taken. :clap:
If I look at it in isolation I struggle to see how it fits the theme of respect, probably my lack of imagination at play. ;)
That's not to say I don't like it I do....:thumbs:

Yeah, now that you mention it I can kinda see what you are saying. PP might be difficult on saving the horse, you would probably have to add a new layer and isolate the horse before doing the high contrast adjustment. Then maybe do something like a Soft light or something with a transparency of 50% on the new layer (after the contrast adj to original layer) to try save it again. But I would really have to have a play to see what exactly I would do!

Edit: Just to add to that, I still really like the original as posted! But I can appreciate what you are saying about it.

hmm now you've mentioned it may be a bit flat, but I think we are being very critical here. It's a lovely shot that shows friendship very well indeed.
 
I've come back to this a few times and it's a grower for me, yes at first look it seems a bit flat, but you have captured the theme so well its a winner for me...:clap::clap::clap:

Also welcome to the 40d club...:thumbs:

Friendship: A fine study, think I would have preferred B&W to sepia but the comp and detail and idea is just spot on!
 
Sorry - I'm a bit behind with commenting this week.

Friendship : I love the composition and subject matter in this one. You can really see the bond between them and it's absolutely spot on for theme. Processing is perfect, sepia suits the image so much more than colour or a straight B&W conversion.

Everything's there and I should absolutely love it, but there's something that's not sitting quite right with me (maybe the "flatness" that you mentioned????? I can't quite put my finger on it though)

Fresh Start : Brilliant!
I'm surprised how many of these fresh start shots could almost double up for grunge.
I love this interpretation and it's great to see that old derelict building sold and waiting to get a new lease of life.
I can't really add much more other than to say I love it!
