Project 52....by Kennysarmy + week 27 Highlight

But stunning even at this size, that is a brilliantly striking shot. Excellent!!

Thanks

Bit of a catch up here:

Development: Ah nicely done and given we're all tapping away at these things very apt indeed :) Good shot - simple and to the point

Freedom: As has been said a bizarre juxtaposition - nicely taken and composed

Night: Thats a good un - love the moonlight clouds adding a touch of drama! Nice calming shot and well suited to B&W! Good one :)

Cheers

I bet this is good in colour, but the B&W processing is stunning and I really love it. Terrific shot.:clap::clap:

Jean

I was torn between submitting this photo as the colour version...but I did think the mono treatment added an extra dimension...

Gorgeous photo - I would never have thought of putting something like that into B&W. . . I'm really getting some inspiration from these 52s :D

Whereabouts in Gloucester is that?

Sarah, the photo was taken at Gloucester Docks.

Now that is a wonderful shot. So many elements, that link together into an amazing image... love it

Brilliant shot...:clap::clap::clap:

Works so well in B&W...a really lovely and well taken shot...

another cracking shot to add to your great 52 collection...

Well done Jeff

What a cracking shot Jeff :clap::clap:

The monoconversion works really well and I could definitely see this enlarged and on a wall in a public place or hotel

Week 27 : Highlight

The highlight of my "photographic" week, getting a shot of a kingfisher.
This is quite a crop, even with my 70-200 a 1.4 converter and a 1.6 crop body this wee fella was quite small on the full sized photo...

..and of course..I had to "highlight" him

:)

Not sure about this one, your night shot last week and your inspiration were really good but I just find this a bit much, not a fan of selective colouring myself.

It just seems lie loads of B&W and a tiny speck of contract and colour. I can see what you are trying to do but it just kind of misses a little for me.

Hope you take the critique in the spirit it is thrown.

haha
was trying to "highlight" the bird ;)
:D

Love your night shot, absolutely spot on.

I'm not a big fan of selective colouring but can see the idea behind it in this shot. Like Hyster I'm not sure it's quite worked. But then I'm just jealous of the fact you've seen a kingfisher! I always seem to miss them by a few minutes!:suspect:

lol
set your alarm 5 minutes earlier ;)

I think I prefer the colour version.
IMHO the colour stands out enough against the neutral background so that you could still call it a highlight and fit the theme.

Whether it's a highlight or not, you're still incredibly lucky to be able to capture a Kingfisher like that.

That a nice shot and one I'd like to capture one day...it a bird I've never seen in the wild...so for that I take my hat off to you Sir...

It fits the theme and would be a highlight for me also.

I prefer the colour version, for the same reasons as Sarah. That is such a stunning colour. :)

A big 'well done' for getting the shot at all.

I've seen kingfishers in the wild a couple of times, but they are so fast I doubt I'll ever manage to get any short of a shot. If I did, it would definitely be a Highlight for me. :D

I'm not at all jealous, though - really. :suspect:

Jean

I gotta go with the colour version too. What a great spot, and the highlight is very clear. I'd love to see when, I know that one would have to be sitting only feet from me for me to actually capture it on camera...

I'll go against the flow and the selective colour version is the one for me - a really special shot and beautifully composed!

Colour ones ace but the first, for me, is ace+1 :)

MAJOR catchup...

Inspiration - This is one of your best for me. Great interpretation and use of DOF to tell the story.

Development - Like the idea but not the composition I'm afraid.

Freedom - Technically very good - I like the colours and composition but for me it doesn't meet the theme. Seeing the house in the background tells me the zebra are "kept" so not free... I suppose it just shows how subjective interpretation is.

Night - Great shot, lovely processing and I like the reflections.

Highlight - I also prefer the selective colour version as I think it fits the theme more obviously i.e. you wouldn't need to know that this was your personal photographic highlight to get the theme. Well done for getting the shot, I'm jealous!

Another vote for the selective colouring from me too!!! (I am a fan) There is enough contrast in the reeds and bank to give detail so that it does not need the colour IMHO!

Well done to you too capturing this!!!
