Processing to achieve that "magazine" look?

No
Until now my thoughts on landscape images have been "keep them natural" so I've kept my processing to a minimum.

Having recently started to enter a few competitions and read the occasional magazine however it seem that the processed look is increasingly popular & whilst it may not be 100% to my taste I'd like to broaden my horizons a little and give processing a bit more of my time.

Now, to get to my point, how do photographers achieve many of the dramatic processing effects - is it relatively straightforward or do they spend hours on a single image utilising numerous different Photoshop "tricks" - any help on this would be appreciated

just to give you an idea of the processing I mean here are some of the shots I was thinking of, although I know some are obviously HDR

Sadly neither of the links you give show any images to me.
HDR isn't too difficult, once you get used to the software and get your set up right you can produce them consistantly.

The readers pics look like normal images with some editing, (boosted saturation in some) the ladscape ones show much heavier processing, some HDR, or combined images maybe.
