Yes
Is this a good company to deal with? have any of you used them? Thanks

I hope so I just ordered a new lens off them :)
I googled them and didn't find anything really bad about them and they were a lot cheaper than the nearest price so took a chance.
However you can't order over the phone by credit card, they only accept through google checkout.

Have a friend who purchased 7d from them without issue. Grey imports though.

It gets excellent reviews HERE

How does one tell if you're buying a grey import?

Usually by the warranty,a grey Nikon body wouldn't have the two-year Nikon warranty, or in the case of a lens/speedlight by the warranty card. With a grey lens or speedlight the warranty card will either be a US or HK one (Nikon Netherlands is ok though) or missing altogether...

So it would be best to send an e-mail asking before committing to purchase I suppose?

Well, given that this is their address....

Smart Choice Photo Ltd
Flat 813, 8/F, Hollywood Plaza,
610 Nathan Road,
Kowloon,
Hong Kong

I'd imagine there's a pretty strong chance they aren't selling UK stock....

Where did you get that? I had this as a contact address

Post Enquiries
ProCameraShop.co.uk
Bourne House
Milbourne Street
Carlisle, Cumbria
CA2 5XF

Good research Graham, couldn't ask for more from a TP member

Yes, they get their stuff from abroad (hence grey imports) but ship from UK. This is why they are cheaper. I did the easier option, and phoned them up - they are open about many of their cameras being grey import (i.e you get seller warranty, not manufacturer). For Canon users, this means slightly different from Nikon above, i.e. unlike the bodies, lenses are covered by international warranty.

I was looking at the Nikon 70-300 vr AF-S which was £360 inc delivery and was the cheapest I could find. Not keen now that it's a grey though

To be honest it doesn't matter in the case of lenses, as the warranty on those is international - have you asked Kerso what he can do you one for?

Being rather new to the forum I don't know who Kerso is. Also I took from Tomqhs' post above that it was Canon that had International warranty on lenses. I guess I got that wrong as well.:bonk::bang::)

Yep, I can can only talk for Canon, as I'm not sure about the warranties for other brands :) Kerso is a highly regarded seller that does a lot of business with people on TP. He sources from the US, but provides UK receipts for UK warranty purposes. From what I've read, Canon UK honours this (again, not sure about other brands). Find his details on this thread http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=185895

No, Nikon lenses come with an international warranty, the bodies however, don't see here

I (and lots of others here on TP) can vouch for Kerso - currently he's got the 70-300 VR at £349 plus p+p - cheaper than your HK supplier ;)

Ive ordered, pretty good service but good packaging was lacking and thats on a £1000 lens. Literally one thin layer of bubble wrap.

I would like to report that I have been in contact with them regarding my complaint and the situation has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I have recently wanted to order a camerashop for Procamerashop but i did not know two things:

-The company is located in Honk Kong, see terms and condition.
This means that it is probably 'grey imports' product and YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY SOME VAT AND DUTY TAX!

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/post/internet.htm

which is about 20%.
The great deal is actually poor!

-The warranty lasts only for one year and any package is at your charge.
Briefly, i will not tend such a risk to save a few pounds...

Thanks this thread for making me realized it in time.

Hmm I don't know if this post is too late for anyone, but a word of warning. As stated above, Nikon lenses do come with an international warranty and confident of this I bought one from Procamerashop. However, they REMOVED the warranty card before sending and when I complained they said it was "in house policy" and that they would not give me the card.

They said any warranty work was to be done through them. This might be all right, but I'd rather deal with Nikon!

I won't buy from them again for this reason although in all other respects they were upfront and seem genuine.

Hi,
Great experience.
Located item on their site took advantage of the 3% extra discount, although a little nervous making bank transfer.
Ordered Thursday arrived well packaged and delivered by CIty-ink courier.
Brand spanking new lens date code UZ
Communication from Procamershop was clear all the way through process, and once with City Link was able to track through their website following a detailed mail with links from Procamershop.
Would I recommend - Definately if you want to make some savings.
Saved myself well over £222.00 on the same lens from another well advertised company.
:):):):):):):)
Just want to get out and use.
There was no warranty card in the box - that's my only question I have and understand that this has probably been taken out. Procamershop assured me there are no Duty or import taxes to pay and got this in an email from them.
AREN'T ALL LENSES IMPORTED ANYWAY?
