Prince!

I've quite the windfall from the bookies coming if cliff richard goes this year.

To be fair I've been putting the bet on every January for the last 12 years in hope.
We may never know with Cliff... He may just ascend into heeaven.....

I shed a tear while listening to his music last night but designed this Facebook cover in tribute this morning....

I was privileged to have gone to two of his live concerts. He was Genius. R.I.P.

It's been a bad year, but at least Elvis is still alive...

To be fair, they are all of an age where drugs, drink etc were a way of life, it's bound to take it's toll as they get older
More amazing is how many have survived for so long

Its like playing poker with the devil :(

They're the first generation of "famous" people in an instantly accessible internet age.
It's just more widely and more instantly reported, and the entire planet is enabled to express their "grief" for all to see.

Internet has been around a long time now, famous people have been dying for most of that time and instantly reported, but not at
the rate they seem to be this year of a similar generation, most of whom have had vastly mispent youth abusing their bodies with alcohol,
drugs and who knows how else.

when i see the headline prince ,,,,dead . i hoped it was going to be edward ,quickly followed by the rest

It's strange how people remark on the increase in number of celebrities dieing each year. Imagine what it will be like in 50 years time, when the celebrated nobodies of today start popping their clogs.

At least their obituaries will only fill one line.

There really are no more deaths this year than others.
I suspect it's a generational thing.
These are people who were part of the youth of our generation, and that's why "we" care about them.
Do you think many people of our generation will give a toss when Justin Beiber or Harry Styles pop their clogs?
No...but your kids/grandkids will be having conversations just like these.

This article on the beeb, would seem to say otherwise.

I'll bookmark it and see if, come Dec 31, there have been more celebrity deaths in 2016 than 2015. Impossible to tell now.
Just been looking at a very long list of celebrity deaths in 2015.

What's with the III? Surely he remembers HalV? (Part 1!)

Do you drink? If so, you're a drug user. If you drink regularly, you may well be a drug addict. Do you smoke? If so, chances are that you're a drug addict. Difference is that (in the UK), booze and fags are legal.

No, the thing is, alcohol is legal, not illegal, it doesn't fund international terrorism. Illegal drugs do.

I don't smoke.

Another drug addict dies - well theres a shock.

Just because you have lots of money, abuse your body in that way and you will end up dead.

An unemployed addict dies on the street corner, the world has no sympathy to the loss, Bowie or Prince, oh thats terrible.

Bit of a sweeping statement that and no evidence to support your theory. The toxicology results haven't even been released yet !! His fiends say (as reported in the Guardian) that he avoided drink or drugs and was living a healthy lifestyle.

was he supposed to be "good" or something?

It's just that I've heard his songs, sung by him, and never wanted to hear another - was he a niche artist or generally popular

He sold 100 million records.
Very niche. :rolleyes:o_O

Probably. After all, some people believe in gods.
