Posting large lenses,alternatives to rmsd

Just wondering who you use when posting large lenses.just been on royal mail site and they want just over £50 for a medium parcel with up to a £1000 insurance.Are there any better options?
 
Not for medium parcel insured for a grand it isn't mate
 
No its just over 3 kilos so anything over 2kgs price goes up
 
Done it 3 times now.

Signed for.
Medium Parcel.
Weight up to 5kg.
Value up to £1000.

Cost £27:60 RMSD next day before 1pm.

Parcel Post is over £50.
 
Nope lol just tapped in medium parcel..upto 5kg signed for and insured for 1000 comes up with parcel force at £55.58

lol I know now cheers David..I didnt scroll right down so just presumed they were all parcel force prices.
 
Might be worth PMing StewartR from lensesforhire to see which carrier(s) they use to send lenses out.
 
I did think of that mate but all sorted now,lens is winging its way to Matt via rmsd..

Rmsd doesn't go by parcel size just weight so I always try and keep mine under 2 kilos if poss. Glad you got it sorted.

No it doesn't.

'Ordinary' post is divided into 5 size categories: Letter, Large Letter, Small Parcel, Medium Parcel, Large Parcel. But Special Delivery doesn't take any account of size, other than that it isn't available for Large Parcels. So there is a size limit of 61 x 46 x 46 cm, but as long as you're within that size limit the only thing that affect the price are the weight and the insurance value.
