Its a .... vs10057 or something. I only have my Mac to edit on. Thats it with an external monitor.

Dunno. I was told by a mate who knows his stuff that it was, I think. All I know is that it sounds better there.

theoretically it isn't directional, the satellites are.

it should theoretically sound better on the floor.

But if you're happy with the sound from it that is fine.

It definitely sounded better higher up :) Its been at least 2 years so I couldn't really give any technical details. I tried a few spots, found that was the nicest sound and left it there.

Ok.. this is all very impressive, but let's hope that people viewing this post don't know your addresses, 'cos now they know what you've got, and where it is!!

I've got some great kit but would not in a million put a photo for all to see up on the web, showing everything and where it's located. :cuckoo:

A colleague of mine in the computer/server/networking industry came across a well publicised incident in their industry just like this about 18 months ago on a techie forum, asking people to show off their mod'ed PC's. Loads took the bait.. uploading photos and info.. and low and behold 4 were broken into and had their kit stolen within a few weeks of the posting!

Please don't call me the bearer of bad news or a 'doomer and gloomer' for what is after all a great bit of 'mines bigger than yours' fun.. but you have been warned.

:)

Petemc

I've been online since about 1995 and no-one has broken into my house yet. People on here already know I'm a photographer so that already means I have some lenses and a computer, which is what you see in my photo.

Thats just iPhoto. I store a lot of my work in that just so it syncs to my iPhone and its quicker than Lightroom.

ah, havent really played with that yet.
like lightroom does it seems to make copies of everything rather than just linking to the directories on the hard drive. is that right?

Thats right if you chose that option. It has the ability to leave things where they be. Its one of the options on import.

cheers.

suppose i should read the help files really :)
i forget that Mac help files actually help rather than Windows help that just confuses

Sub bass is not directional, if your getting a sweet spot with it I'd suspect that it's feeding bass and mid bass too.

At the end of the day though.....it's a pc and hardly audiophile levels, so as long as your lug holes are happy that's all that matters.

I couldn't tell you what its doing :) I do like my music and I appreciate a nice clean sound but I'm no audiophile. It just didn't sound right on my floor so I moved it higher and it sounded better, more complete.

Deep Bass should be felt ;)

popping a lil active sub close to a wall or in a corner will often change the characteristics of the sound. some respond well, some dont.

My little Yamaha sub on my main PC sounds excellent in the corner of the room on the floor under the desk, my REL sub in my home cinema likes a bit more breathing space :D

We had a room that did nothing in particular, apart from provide a passage between the hall and the kitchen. We decided to change it in an office.

#1 - the wall on the left as you enter, we converted the fireplace into a set of bookshelves.

#2 - the next wall has a work surface on which are a desktop, a laptop, a laminator and a scanner. Both the computers have a wifi connection to the Internet. Above it are three rows of shelves holding CDs, DVDs and software. Underneath the worksurface, there is a colour laser printer, paper, a spare lap top and paper amongst other things. The kitchen and conservatory is beyond.

#3 - after the kitchen entrance, the wall has a desk, some CDs and a USB turntable. The painter of the picture on the wall is the man who took a photograph of John Lennon at Quarry Bank Grammar School when Lennon was a pupil at the school.

#4 - the last wall with another worksurface which has another desktop, webcam and router. Above it are three rows of shelves holding books, DVDs and software. Underneath the worksurface, there is an inkjet printer and a scanner amongst other things. And thus back to the hall.

So now this is one of the most used rooms in the house.

Kit bag looks rather empty, someone downstairs has been nicking my lenses :evil eyes: Ill have to reclaim them tomorrow!

Note the photowall at the far wall, 44 4X6 photos with perspex over the top.
