Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

 Congratulations! definitely something to celebrate.

Lovely sharpness in the eyes and the mono conversion is great. Excellent DOF

I'd be tempted to increase the exposure and to rotate right a little.

Hi Andy.

Firstly, congrats on the new arrival, shes v cute! You've captured the real newborn feel with the curled fingers and all!!!!

I haven't been around fro a while and am trying to catch up with my posts and feedback>

Elaborate. Nice take on the theme, but are the shell dirty?

Rescue. I love this shot and I think the fact that it is a night shot adds to it, esp the sky.

Sensual. Is that wht I think it is????

Broken: Another great idea. I prefer the middle one and the B&W processing

Hidden: Isobelle looks really sad for such a pretty young lady. Is she crying? :(

Twisted. Another good idea and I prefer the B&W (as above). Didi you try a slow exposure btw?

Hope to be around more often now and looking forward to more.

Andy, it's a lovely picture.

Thanks. One of my favs.

Lovely picture, and definitely something to celebrate... Grandad!

Yeah, I've not really got to grips with photographing anything with white in ti to get a correct exposure. At lease I didn't until I watched a DVD on The Zone System. Heard about it before when I first got my DSLR (last year..) but didn't really understand. Now It's really falling into place.

Shells are dirty. I felt washing them would take away some of the nature..:cuckoo:

Rescue, I did enjoy this one.

Sensual, I saw this a bit of a fail. I wanted it to look like you think it does but I got the colour wrong and had to make a bungled attempt to rescue the sky.
Broken, again one of my more enjoyable ones.

Hidden, I might revisit this one as I felt it worked quite well. She's not crying, she's just a great actress.

Twisted, not my best but I didn't have much time for this theme. I did try slowing the speed down but just ended up with a blurry mess.

Thanks for the detailed responces.

Hiya Andy,

Just catching up on your latest post ... and Congratulations to you and your family on the arrival of your grand daughter, she is such a cutie ;)

I think you have a great photo here, especially considering the IV and 'surfboard' (something my son had when he was born .... 2 weeks prem .... and before my tog days so I didn't get such great shots back then). This is definitely a photo to cherish!

Only thing I would perhaps do is crop a bit off the top. There is also a slight halo effect on the left arm/hand .... but that doesn't distract much from the gorgeous alertness in the eyes, which really grabs my attention.

Also like the mono on this ... but would like to see the colour version.

And .... what a head of hair there ... she is going to have gorgeous locks! Guess mother had major heartburn during preggie with that hair.

Great addition to your project and one I am sure you will look back on with much pride.

Thanks for sharing this photo with us.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Lovely shot Andy & very fitting for the theme...

Thanks, I had a massive clear out of images because I have a habit of keeping everything and I had about 1TB of data...and this colour was deleted :shake:

I didn't notice the halo and have to read up on the causes/how to rectify.

Lovely shot Andy & very fitting for the theme...

Thanks, it was a bit lazy but time constraints....blah, blah, blah..:)

Bought my props for my smell theme and need to plan it out. It's not that 'out of the box' (damn it, Kev, is always on my mind!!).

Realised my major fault...with this challenge and my photography/processing in general...I'm rushing (or drunk/or both..:gag:). [I'll leave my minor faults to one side....]

So, message to self, takey timey and thinky outy...:bat:

Cheers and good luck all.

Thanks for the input. I'd agree with your comments on the elaborate.

What was it Shakespeare said, "The highs and lows of outrageous photography....".

It's been really busy this week, what with work and homelife.

I went out on Wednesday to get my preferred photograph but the weather was against me.

Fallback image is below.

Once again Isabelle did her best but she was bored after the first click of the camera and I managed to get the faintest hint of a smile...:shake:

I don't feel I did too badly with this one. I controlled the backlighting by exposing for it and using some fill in flash.

Composition is OK, but I had to do a small crop.

Anyway, here's hoping I get back on track the coming week.

Cheers.

Hi Andy

I can see Isabelle's christmas list getting longer....." please Dad....I've helped you sooooo much this year with all your photography "

The closed eye's & slight smile add to the feeling of pleasure you get from the smell of a flower so bang on theme & a nice capture:thumbs: The icing on the cake would have been a real flower ? The lighting & positioning all work really well so great shot

Hi Andy, considering Isabelle got very board, you have done quite well, I like the little hint of the smile in there too.
All the best and I'm sure you will be on track for next week!

Thanks a lot.

It was a bit rushed but I'm not too unhappy.

I know it doesn't look like it, but they are real flowers - they have glitter on them. On reflection maybe not the best flowers I've bought Jackie...

And, yes, she did catch me out when I took the photographs and accused me of buying them just so I could photograph them...:nono:

Lovely shot but the flower does have a plastic look (only on the petals)

Hiya Andy

Well done on the photo for 'smell' it is definitely on theme and what a lovely pose and smile from Isabelle too.

I think you have filled the frame well and the tones all look spot on too.

The glitter on the rose doesn't bother me too much as I think it adds a certain sparkle to the image.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

:whistling: this doesn't look at all like i am following Dawn's postings... anyhow..

What was it Shakespeare said, "The highs and lows of outrageous photography....".

andy,

i think you'll find he was quoted famously for putting down Bic Quill's forever running out ink just when you need to write down some'ones phone number...

as for smell.. the expression conveys it so well captured, in my mind. DOF seems centred on rose head and slightly on face, ..but as agreed..it does hint at rushed (NOT that mine won't as i'm behind 2 weeks...)

but matching the cardie and dress to the rose shows you thought about composition.

Isabelle had her hair cut today...:'( and I took a few photographs for posterity.

When I saw this week's theme I had to post this photograph, she looks weir:)d as hell...in a princessy sort of way...

I'll get my main photograph up later.

Andy, I instantly liked this. It has impact and nice colours too. Only on the images that I really think are strong enough to handle it do I tend to offer critique. Did you apply a guassian blur to the background? The 'edge' around Isabelle jars a little on close inspection. Of course, you may not look there as the image is all about the hair.

Sorry I haven't been more interactive with everyone on here... I suppose the advantage of the recent drop off of people is it makes it more manageable to keep up to date with what everyone is doing. I know that I will see you come the end of the year ;)

Hiya Andy,

This is a fantastic shot for the theme, don't see why it should be your interim shot

I hope Isabelle hasn't cut too much of her gorgeous hair :bat:

Well done!

Cheers

Dawn :)

Guassian blur was added in post, I could have taken more time to get it spot on but I'll be doing my main weird tonight...:)

Look forward to the end of year meet up,...

My thoughts also :D

Andy, that is an excellent pic, well done.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks, I posted a few 'Just for pleasure' photographs and it's been cut quite short. She was beaming after she had it cut although she does look a bit older now...:'(

It's not how I'd like had it been my main post - there is some slight movement in her hand and tips of her hair.

I had a flash of inspiration over lunch and hopefully I can pull off my main post.

Cheers.

Oh My Word! As my daughter would say if she saw that! It sure is weird! I prefer the composition of number 1, I find it better with more of the plate in view, and the position of the cutlery is better as well. Only thing I would say, it would be better if the background was all black. But all in all 2 great photos for this week.

Hiya Andy,

That is absolutely fantastic and very weird thinking indeed. Can't say it looks very appetising though :D

Have to agree with Michael, the first does look better composition wise.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

andy.... so yes doesn't always mean yes to everything..??

i know we all need more iron in our diets..but thats just weird....tomato sauce... how could you..?? composition of number 1 is better...

..and i was accused of having a screw loose... :D

Hi Andy

great shot of Isabelle's hair...very weird & nicely processed , I like the slight movement in her hair as well

Your 2nd shot....definately weird & then some ! Can't tell you why but I prefer the 1st version , more on show , great colors & you've done well to avoid flare/glare(whatever you term it ) on the cutlery , the toast also seems to stand out off the plate

I'm still chewing!

Great idea, and i like the DOF, but everyone knows Brown Sauce goes much better with screws on toast.

Indeed, we ran out of the good stuff!

I had a few hours last night so drove up to Almscliffe Crag to see if I could get a sunset.

When I got there I saw this rock formation and thought it was a very weird shape.

Now I know what it looks like and I'm sure you will also know, but I want to make sure...

So....

Weird by andysheader, on Flickr

Looks like weird definitely got the brain cells working :D

HDR bolts on toast . . . yummy !!!
Really like this though. Plates of food (even weird stuff) aren't easy to do well and I think you've captured it brilliantly. Definitely the first composition for me.

And from Almscliffe Crag. That is definitely a dog.
Now please tell me that I'm seeing the same weird thing as you !

Dog?? Not what I can see...:)
