Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

Neat idea Andy. It really nails the theme. The idea of an object is its existence, prescence. By virtue of which in the right circumstances it must have a shadow. This objective certainly has a great shadow. Really really good Andy.

Cheers, Mart.

This the one that was the hardest to do, in relation to the theme and implementation.

Anyway, onto the 'wrong' one!

Hiya Andy,

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you on this one, but thought I better before you post for the next theme.

I have had a look at this photo a few times ..... just can't make my mind up about it...... I'll explain ....

I can see where you are coming from with regards to the 'object' for the theme ..... but for me there is just something not sitting right

Like I say I have looked at the photo a few times over the last few days to see if I can figure out what it is that bothers me about it. In your reply to Tina, have you posted a different photo? because the lighting looks different to the original. Which leads me to think that the exposure in the first is right and the shadow and lighting in the second is better. For me what I think would have worked is a bit of a lower angle rather than from above ...

But then that is just my view, it seems like you have got quite a few rave reviews for this one, so well done.

I hope my comments don't come across as negative .... I'm just a bit torn on this one.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Dawn, thanks for the detailed and thoughtful response.

I have to say, I'm unhappy with this one for a number of reasons: the detail in the figure is very good when I zoom into it but this isn't reflected in the posted image, the shadows within the figure aren't very good, the lighting isn't symetrical under the armpits, the chest on the figure and some of the light behind the figure is overexposed.

I did try a lower angle but what I did the head shadow came out of the figure's head, if you know what I mean.

There's more.....but I need to get my 'wrong' idea thought through...

Cheers.

Great object shot. I really like the shadow and the lighting - spot on:clap:

This is an interim wrong because it's getting late and my original idea may not come off....

Anyway, this is far from perfect. I had the camera on tripod, room lighting, laptop in one hand, torch in the other (camera wouldn't focus as too dark so used torch to aid focus), and pressed the remote release with my toe!!

I had to use my kit lens as my nifty fifty wouldn't focus and too tired to figure out why.

Might have another go using my wife or kids....

Apart from a minor curves adjust and a horizontal flip, not PP.

Anyway, enough drivel...

Very well done Andy. Having tried a similar set up in the past and failed miserably I know how difficult focusing and not moving can be. Think if I had tried to use my foot as well it may have been a "Mr Clumsy" shot.

Hiya Andy

Well done  I think you have done a fab job here. I can't comment on the Nikon kit lens as I work with Canon, but regardless, I think the kit lenses are at times under-rated and actually produce some fantastic shots when one knows how to operate them (as you have demonstrated here).

My only critique would be .......

I think you have had one too many Costas, judging by that bloodshot eye

You know what .... I actually can't wait to meet you ..... because you come across as an ACE guy and I'm happy you are on our 52 team

Tell you something though, you have made some progress since your initial posts .... and I am inspired by some of your recent works (both here in your 52 and in your 365), so hats off to you!

Cheers

Dawn :)

Cheers, wasn't the easiest, but sometimes that results in the better photographs...:)

Why thank you.

I'd agree regarding the kit lens, it's my go to lens most of the time....not that I have an arsenal of lenses to choose from...

It's been a looonng week at work, with redundancies announced, thought I'm safe for the moment!!, and I'll be buying a bottle of Jack tonight so if you think that's bloodshot...

Of all the members on the forum you're the one that makes me blush most often....

Yeah, it'll be good to put faces to names.

Hi Andy, a very well thought out idea, and certainly very well taken. Well Done

Thanks, it was much better than last week's post after which I was a tad deflated...:gag:

I'd crit that shot...but I read the effort that went into creating it and I'm sure I'd have had SO much movement as to have no shot at all!

Congratulations

Thanks, just looked at the EXIF and it was shot at 1/40...gasp...and I thought caffeine was supposed to cause camera shake.....

Thought, I'd apreciate any crit.....:D

Week 15.

This was wrong for a number reasons: the orderly queue that was formed when I asked for volunteers, the howls of laughter throughout, the mess that was made, the wasted chocolate cream and I think a bit of cream's lodged in my frontal lobe!

Anyway, it was fun!

Hi Andy,
I saw your Mr Wrong post a few days ago but hadn't had chance to comment. I admire the lenghts you obviously went to to get that right, and it paid off. Until I saw your new post this evening I had forgotten that your Mr Wrong was just a back up in case this didn't come off. I assume this was the plan you were working on.
Bloody brilliant mate, and you have made it look fun. Nice one :)

See you in Leeds on Thursday

Yeah, this was the one I was after and quite happy with it.

Thanks.

See you Thursday...

Hiya Andy,

Well what can I say ..... you just amaze me as each week passes.

Loved your little quip at the Paradox :D Can't wait to see what you actually come up with.

Your Week 15 is absolutely fantastic and well done to you for attempting such. Hope you had a Costa to go with all that cream

BTW the triptych style works very well here to put it all into sequence

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi, Dawn, thanks for the comments...

On paradox, just had a a quick Google search for paradox....and there are lloooaaddss of them....

Cheers.

Just worked out, since day one of this project I've spent around £180.00......on Costa and associated stuff: mainly the coffee, but also traveling to and from Costas and having to buy a photography magazine when I go...

:shake:

Hi Andy an excellent interpretation on paradox! 2 great photos there! And I like them both, personally i prefer number 1, the look in here eyes suggests that she is looking at someone at the same time as taking the eggs away.
I'm still thinking!

[S1]Ditto[/S1]

Thanks, I was so enthralled in getting depth that I neglected the composition.

I wish I'd got one of Isabelle looking at me in #1.

Cheers.

I'm a fan of your imaginative approach andy :0)

classic expression on isabelle's face there, bless her!

Hiya Andy,

Great take on the theme and your daughter is becoming quite the model with great theatrical expression

I like both images, but have to say #1 stands out most for me because of the look on her face :D

I take it that her hands are all covered in chocolate there

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Andy

Love your shot from Wrong , great idea to use the tryptych...wonder why you had a queue of volunteers.........

& brilliant shot of the eye

I'm struggling with Paradox but like what you've chosen to do , great expressions on her face in both shots along with great color

Many thanks, yeah, she's my 'go to' model...

Thanks, Dawn, it's not chocolate, it's muck after she's been 'gardening', meaning digging up her grandad's plants....:whistling:

I'm sure your paradox will come to you in a flash of inspiration/perspiration....

Andy,

has to be the first out of the two... the crafty look says it all... MINE!!!

Kev

Cheers Sa, she'll be eating them all soon, which must be worth a shot or two...:)

OOOooo, it's Saturday and I'm sat here expectantly awaiting week 17, well that and sorting out the kitchen...:gag:

Although you say you wish you had got one with isabelle looking at you for number one, i think the fact that she is not really makes the shot. Looks very much like a cheeky grab and run is about to take place.
I was the same as Dawn thinking it was chocolate on her hands and that she had somehow got to one of the eggs without opening the top of the box.

Andy, I too go with the general consensus on your Paradox. Definately No1 for me too. It is her facial expression. her eyes, that certainly add to the not resisting temptation take on it. Great colours and nice use of focus. Good one

yes number 1 for me the eyes ,just looks like my daughter did this morning class and great image to boot
i like the Mr wrong but strange i cant look at it :cuckoo:(that me)

On reflection, I'm glad she didn't make eye contact...

Cheers, Mr Wrong is a weird one.

BTW, all the eggs have been eaten!

Week 17.

Another orderly queue was formed for this one.

Didn't come out as I'd hoped....they've changed the way the ring is pulled so Jackie could't get the spurt I was after...:(

I also had to shoot JPEG to get a fast shutter speed.

Anyway, here you go:

I'm getting an image here of the sort of person you are and it is veering toward the pantomime, slapstick/village fair sideshow

I can see what you are aiming for and in the absence of a spurt I think you did well, all shots look fine to me  Good job the weather was tropical...;)
