Posiview's Photo 52 'Nature' added **FINISHED!!**

Now this is right up my street, what a great idea - and well executed i think.

The words 'damp squib' spring to mind after this week's result.

I took a day off work last Friday and drove off with my props for 'hard' but the weather changed and the wind was blowing a gale so I couldn't get the photograph I was after.

Other things conspired against me and I ended up with this one, which was a rather hasty attempt.

'Hard to resist' bacon, sausage and egg sandwich....

I like the dark quality, the focus on the bacon, the composition and crop and the plate (my daughter wasn't happy I used hers!).

Don't like the lack of focus on the front end, blown highlights on the toast and mark on the porch window above the bacon.

Anyway, here you go...

Hi Andy
First of all, LOVE the 'open' shot, looks like a lot of thought went into it, and I also think the dof is just right, on her finger:)

Happy birthday to Isabelle

Re 'hard'
I really like the idea behind the shot, looks lovely:)
I agree with your self crit about the soft sausages (sounds so wrong...)
Like the focus on the bacon (looks a tad overdone to me though) and maybe ketchup would have been more... photogenic then brown sauce, especially with that plate:)

Not too keen on the background, perhaps if you, well.. I don't know really... perhaps again put the same white background behind, and some white cotton (or even paper) on the windowsill underneath the plate.
Shame you just missed off the edge of the plate.

(this all reads really harsh, and it isn't meant to be... constructive crit helped me wonders, and just trying to... repay the favours, really!)
I really like the idea, and, just a couple of modifications it'll be on a par with the 'open' shot:)

I like it! although it's making me blinking hungry! dof works for me and like the darkness of it too :)

I prefer a bit of Reggae Reggae sauce on mine.....mmmmmmmmm meat

Great photos! Your 'Open' is fantastic, and I like your bunny wabbit too! :D

Hiya Andy,

Where is the egg? I only see burnt sausages, bacon and toast (or is the egg underneath the bacon?).

I like your idea behind the theme, but must confess it doesn't look very appetising to me (sorry). Perhaps it is because I am quite fussy about how my sausages and bacon are cooked.

There are a lot of dark items in the subject, i.e., dark counter top, plate, sausages & bacon, brown of the toast, bit of window (above frame). Then you have the white frame which draws my attention more than the subject itself.

I think this could be a great shot if you had firstly used a different colour plate, positioned in a more appealing setting, perhaps on a table (or alternatively positioned some white paper/card behind the plate to block the window and perhaps shoot from a slightly raised angle. Also would be nice to see some of the egg which would add a splash of bright colour to the image.

Sorry if this all sounds negative crit, but rather hope it helps.

Now I'm off to make some breakfast as the thought of food is making me hungry.

Cheers

Dawn :)

haha really liked your take on the open theme, good work!

Thanks, one of those (rare) inspirational moments!

Thanks, gotta love rabbits!

Dawn :)

dawn, no problems at all.

I really like scorched breakfasts and I can't quite work out how to position my laptop screen to get the best viewing position (I know, I know, a poor workman blames his tools!).

I'll take on board your comments for future photographs.

Thanks all.

My cluttered is based on my 'cluttered mind'. Since I bought my camera last April I have devoured magazine (books, Podcasts, new articles, etc, etc) and my mind sometimes seems like it's full to overflowing.

I was after this kind of image.

The good: decent composition (I wanted to be central), decent oof backdrop, good focusing on my face (), quite like my puzzled expression.

The bad: I messed up the dof and had it too shallow, I wanted the photography magazines titles to me in focus so they could be recognisable as such, I'm not keen on my hunched posture, background is OK, but a couple of distractions: the light vertical vine to my left hand side. I tried a reshoot but the light had changed and it was too dark.

Anyway, here you go.

Hiya Andy

Fab take on the theme and I really like the thought process with your creation.

I very much identify with your increased appetite of knowledge since you bought your camera last year. I too couldn't get enough of any kind of paraphernalia re photography.

There are so many things I like about your image .....from the way you have created a very interesting bokeh background, the look on your face (is absolutely classic) and the pile of mags. They all scream 'clutter' to me, but in an organised fashion (which is good).

What I like the most is the way it looks like you are eating the mags

Brilliant shot and even more so that you have included a self portrait in this week. I'm not at that stage yet, i.e., I don't feel comfortable infront of the lens (but maybe later in the project I may gain the confidence and surprise you all ;))

I have really enjoyed keeping up with your project and look forward to the coming weeks.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks, Dawn and a big  for all your contributions to this year's 52!

I'm just working through the cluttered posts, I'm annoyed I can't keep up with all the posters but there's sssooo many that I have to, usually, only post on those that really grab me.

Cheers.

Hiya Andy,

You are welcome, in both respects.

I know what you mean ..... I too am trying to keep up. I want to visit everyones project, and in time I will hopefully catch up. There are so many enthusiastic people this year and I don't think there are many who 'dropped out' (for want of better words), so it makes it even more challenging.

I also don't want to get into the habit of just saying 'nice pics' and find I get so engrosed in the projects and photos and can spend a good 15 - 20 minutes on each project that I haven't already visited :bonk: But I think that is because I read each comment made ..... all part of my own learning experience.

I've never done a Photo52 before, but this is absolutely BRILLIANT! I have learned so much in the last 6 weeks than I did in the last year.

Not to mention that I am currently also doing my own 365 (which I am not hosting here on TP, purely from a time factor), but think I may have to because I could learn so much more from everyone.

Had an idea just spring to mind .... i.e., wouldn't it be great if we could organise a TP 2011 52 meet towards the end of the project :D ..... that would be fab! Get to meet the folk that we have got to know over the year.

This project has become part of my life for this year and I am so much enjoying it!

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hiya Andy, a cracking image, well done, as you say that detracting line is awkward, but it doesnt take anything away from the image. Some great thought gone into this one. Good luck for this week.

Now that's a great idea. If anyone decides to do this ;) I'll assist.

Thanks, Michael, doing it late in the day, like I have done for the last few weeks after giving the theme some thought, means that they sometimes get missed by people.

Cheers.

Hiya Andy

Great stuff, I will post the idea to the main 2011 Photo 52 thread and if there are enough peeps interested I don't mind taking on organising the event (and if others want to offer their help that would be great too).

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi Andy, I love love love your Open image, what a fantastic idea. The Clutter one is great too, what a difference compared to your earlier weeks, I guess slowing down is working for you. Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with.

Cheers, the temptation to rush and get the new theme up is strong but I'm resisting.

I have ideas though...

Andy,

Thanks for taking the time to review my 52

#1 Good idea & a solid start.
#2 Like others have said a bit OTT on the PP, 2nd attempt is much better
#3 Agree with Dawn, feet scare me. I had my wifes taken off on our honeymoon
#4 Best of the bunch, guess the little hand is miss wobbly tooth
#5 Nice take, but "hard to resist" a tad overdone for my taste
#6 Great idea & well shot, I'm also trying to think outside the box a bit now (hopefully) ;)

Appreciated and no worres.

Yeah, I'm really going to push to do something different and hopefully the photographs will explain themselves and folk will 'get them'.

I'm taking Friday off work to get my delicate shot and it will be different.

Regards and that damn tooth still hasn't come out yet, and she won't let me neare her with the pliers...:D

Really like your week 6. Great take on the theme and an imaginative shot which really grabs attention.

Your 52 gets better every week (so no pressure for week 7 then;))

Cheers, Patrick

oh andy, that's a really good shot:)

like the blur in the background

Rarely have I felt such (pleasurable) pressure.

My mind is racing all the time to find unusual ideas. I had a great idea which isn't possible any more; but I'm off work tomorrow and I have a really good (if no very difficult) idea to try.

Cheers.

Well, my ideas for delicate didn't come to fruition, so I had to just go with an opportunity that presented itself. It was taken on top of York Castle.

My camera switched to, for some annoying reason, JPEG; a safety fence prevented me getting a good composition, the wind was blowing very hard and I had to keep one eye on my daughter....anyway, enough excuses, and just noticed the thin branch/root below the main stork, but too tired to fix it now...

Not sure what this plant is but it seemed to be clinging on for dear life, so I used this definition of delicate, 'frail in constitution or health'.

I kinda like this pic. Especially with your hilarious explanation about the situation you shot it in!

Like the DOF and the detail in the stone, but the main subject looks a bit OOF. I'd be tempted to crop a bit off the bottom.

Still like though.

Thanks, Patrick, the main subject is oof, I tried to get the best shutter speed I could but it was moving about (quite) a lot. I had it on burst mode and this is the best I could get.

I was going to cut some off the bottom but I really wanted to emphasise the baroness of the wall. Might give ti a crop tonight.

Cheers.

Hiya Andy,

Well done for capturing this delicate looking plant (I don't have any clue what it is but it looks interesting).

It sounds like you had quite a challenge taking this shot, so well done for persevering.

As already mentioned about the OOF subject, I do however think that the stray root below adds to the character of the image, in the sense that it looks like the plant has got itself wrapped around the rock and indeed hanging on for dear life.

Nice DOF and composition.

Well done

Cheers

Dawn :)

I really like this, and hands up to you for being stubborn enough to try. Parents are often pro's at at least trying to multi-task, and that's obviously exactly what you had to do to get this! :D

I think the fact that the main subject is OOF, but the root isn't, makes this image rather interesting. You could say that the root IS the main subject. If it wasn't for the root, the plant wouldn't be there...! :) Well done!

Like your thinking about the root...:)

I like it too, and judging by your description, it sounds like something that would happen to me, lol!

Thanks, and I'm sure it'll happen again!

Andy, i like the way the shot leads you along the wall and down the root. Really interesting image, think the OOF and DOF field work really well for this shot.

regards

Thanks, Steve, this one is actually tuning into one of my favourite photographs.

Well, I was hoping to take a photograph of my 18 year old daughter's bedroom, which is the very definition of chaos...however, and for some strange reason, she decided to tidy it...

Anyway, I decided to take my life in my own hands and venture into the loft....

A decade+ of 'junk' that my wife won't get rid of...

I set the tripod up and locked in the camera, turned off the light and lightpainted - I was hoping to create a panorama but it wasn't happening.

I decided to do a collage. It's deliberately dark to compliament the chaos theme.

It was quite fun zooming in and thinking, "Oh, so that's where the Mac went!".

I suspect this may be a marmite moment!

Cheers.

Hiya Andy,

I like this, as it is the style of image I enjoy looking at and creating, so for me it works well.

Well done on doing a collage too, they can be quite complex to set out and get the right pics where you want them to appear.

I think you have done well, although I think some of the images are a tad too dark and would have brought more interest to the image if they were a bit brighter. I would have perhaps arranged the segmants slightly differently, perhaps separating the wall and beam images and scattering them in different parts of the collage.

I like the frame you have used, it almost looks like you have torn the image out of a magazine you found in the loft

BTW how did you process this collage?

Overall an intersting image.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Thanks, Dawn.

I spent the most time on this one adjusting the brightness and couldn't quite decide.

Regarding the collage, I tried to do it in PS but it was taking too long so I just downloaded 'Collage Maker 3.60' (free) and used the 'auto collage'...bit lazy, I know but I had to move onto my 365...:gag:

Boarder was one of those :woot: moment and I'm quite happy with it, but it was a bit rushed.

I have to say, It's quite a relief to have finished this week's theme .

Just checked my gmail and noticed you're done your chaos so I'll have a looksee..

Cheers.
