weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

Hi Andy. I like the idea here. Is it my eyes but is the guys face front left in focus? Also what is the slightly blue object top right? My eye is drawn to it?

Hi, looks like you are right...:bonk:

I didn't have chance to view last night on TP, just typed, pasted, posted to TP and went to bed...

I think the torch light may have been to harsh on the face, blue bits aren't on the original...?

I'm doing another edit now.

Cheers.

Really sorry to ask this if I am asking in the wrong place but I have just joined the 52 group thro Flickr and I am not sure if I just post pictures there or on tp as well. If tp can someone tell me where and how. Sorry if I am being stupid here! Thanks

Well, went out to photograph my main submission. The local social club...I was sat in my car about 40 meters away and I was sure some of the guys could see me in the car photographing them and I expected them to come running over at any time :exit:

This one was handheld, f2.8, ISO 2000 @ 1/25th :gag:

It was photographed with B&W in mind. I photographed around 50 images, but this one, with the isolated figure smoking in between pints stood out for me.

Cheers.

Hi, there and welcome aboard  see this thread for guidance linky and ask any questions in the thread...

Cheers.

that's a brilliant shot, very atmospheric, reminds me of ziggy stardust ever so slightly

Nice and moody that, loving the black and white, really suits the theme.

Andy, Tonight's shot is a nice use of a reportage style for this theme so B&W suits it well.

Vice - like both shots, both cover the theme very well. The B&W does make the shot stand out of the club. The overall darkness works well too.

Thanks, all. I could get a real taste for this kind of photography :nono:

Hi Andy

Magical - really like this shot a lot, and nice colours too.

Vice - like both shots but for me the b&w of the club stands out.

Hi Andy, good to see you;re still hanging in there.

Nice idea for vice, but I'm not comfortable with the smoker being that far to the left and so small in the frame. Smoking is a vice so the theme is there, I just think the smoker is lost in the frame to fully hit the theme.

Hi, Neil, thanks nipping by.

I visualised the final photograph as it is, but I hear what you are saying.

I didn't really have much choice as it happens; in the LH side were 3 recycle bins that I didn't like in the photograph. I could have made the photograph a bit more square on, but would have had to move closer and I wasn't going to do that...:bat:

Cheers.

I think that second shot is just brilliant! Nothing more to say :)

Hi Matey

totally brill 2nd image for Vice....spot on , love the B&W ( though part of me wants to see some very slight tones in it), nice angle & right on theme....well done you :clap: The grilles on the windows seem to add to the theme as well...

As for the 1st image...not really my thing but I have a great mental image of you hiding in the garden now....I needed a laugh this week...cheers

Thanks very much.

Like that Vice shot, very moody!

Cheers, you know, I've never actually been in there...

Vice - I like your social club shot very much. The natural light works well, and great use of B&W and grain(?) Could it be straightened up a bit?

Cheers, I'll have a look...

Thanks, can you tell me what you mean by tones..never mind, just Googled.

I'll have a go, if I have time, at another edit.

Hi Andy, I like your club shot, the black and white is a good choice it adds to the atmoshere and gritty feeling!

Thanks, Sarah.

I'm just off to ensure I've commented on everyone's submissions...

Excellent Andy, now why didn't I think of that :D mono suits it perfectly too. ;)

Definitely #2 for vice Andy, the B&W conversion really gives it such a gritty feel. The lighting in the key areas works well too. Good work all round. Iain

Love the social club shot, I was looking for the 'standing outside smoker's club' but couldn't find one ... well done on capturing it

Thanks all. Let's see what today brings :)

Hi Andy

Vice - #1 sorry but this doesn't do anything for me I am afraid

#2 is an excellent shot. But agree with Mentalblock that the figure is the one that personifies Vice more and a little lost in the shot. But really atmospheric, good b&w rendition and pretty brave to take it considering as to how some might have taken offence. Well done

Hi, no worries regarding #, it was a bit of an indulgence :D

Vice - I think the soldiers shot is great... Love the setup and dof used

The B&W Club shot is very good too, you can feel the atmosphere from the image

Cheers, I thought B&W was called for.

Well, I think we're all happy with this week's theme.

Just returned from a long weekend in the Lakes and had a great time. We stopped in a wigwam at Wild Rose park (highly recommended ).

This is where we had the last TP 52 meet and I went back the a tunnel we did some light painting and wire wool spinning.

This photograph was made using my Hitech Pro Stopper...really liking this filter.

Here's a B&W and colour.

Cheers all and I'll head over to see everyone's submissions.

Oh, I also have a few more ideas and I'm going to try and do one now, "Isabelle...come here for a minute, darling...." ;)

Entrance

Rubbish, pure rubbish. Does not shout out entrance if anything its shouts exit lol only joking.

Like the mono, very good shot and on theme.

ha ha....outside...:D

Cheers.

Well I see the entrance to a tunnel, and the exit through your but! But why are you in it?
Was there something in particular your wanted to achieve?

As it is it does nothing for me, sorry Andy.

I was after an eerie feel, hence me in it. Guy stood at entrance of a tunnel, ghostly look, perhaps after an accident, returned to the scene. Hence looking behind.

I was also trying to get the symmetry bang on and think I managed it.

I'd have preferred a much longer tunnel, but worked with what I had.

Cheers.

Well, here's another one I took the night before in the pitch dark.

As with the other ones, I wanted to present a sense of foreboding...that feeling we get when entering a dark place. I couldn't decide whether to have light at the end of he tunnel or not and in the end, decided that light was more positive.

Lightly light painted the road, and the tunnel face and the inside meter or so of the tunnel ceiling.

Cheers.
