weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

That's a really good selection, think the plant ones are excellent but the hair just has something a bit special to it, I think it's that it's taken from an angle you wouldn't usually see and so makes you think a bit more, really like it, well done!

Thanks, it was an interesting theme..

Good effort this week with all those images Andy
I prefer #2 in your cactus image, being able to see all the roots works better IMHO. #2 for the beetroot image too, lots of lovely detail in there from your light painting. Iain

Thanks, I've not really done much of this type of lightpainting, but will be doing mre...:D

:lol:....only you would light paint a beetroot

Works really well though...prefer #2...more detail without overdoing the lighter bits

Must say however that those images are freaking me a bit....you remember Rupert the Bear...he had a friend with a face like the beetroot ( Raggety I think he was called ) & I used to get nightmares when I saw him

:bat:

Sheesh, I remember that character...

Hi Andy, I like your wider shot of the cactus. Have you tried pointing a flash or torch onto the white backgound as well, I find this helps to keep it whiter.I think the beetroot would have been better if it had been cut in half and you could see the bright red inside!!

Never thought to cut it in half and thanks for the BG tip

Hi, all, I'm Finland at the moment with a few mate on an 8 day 40th birthday bash...:D not my birthday though :'(

It's a stunning country and we've done loads...highlight so far was gunning it at over 80kph through a forest on a snow mobile....not scary much :D

Taken over 20gb of photographs and managed to photograph the Northern Lights, though they weren't the best they have been, also photographed at ISO3200 because the temprature was minus 28 and I couldn't feel my feet, hands or face...few beers and a 100 degree sauna sorted that out

Cheers all, I'll catch up on your 52's when I get back and upload a few handmade photographs I've taken.

Glad you're having a great time, and lok forward to seeing the pics when you get back!!:)

Still got bags on energy there Andy. Always on the ball with the subjects. Id go with roots of the hair as the less obvious take on it... I wonder what you'll come up with next... Money isn't it??

What would that be Andy....asking him for money... ? You cheap skate... :D

Well, returned from a 8 days in Finland...great place and highly recomended.

Managed to photograph 2 home mades. Neither of which was planned because I was away with a few non-toggers so I had to be mindful I didn't start behaving like a photogtrapher and unpacking all my gear.

#1 was taken inside the bunkhouses and this thing was above my bed..., managed to turn off the lights and in between quaffing Jack Daniels I turned off the lights and light painted for a few minutes much to the ammusment of my mates. Given the time I would have liked to produce a photograph without the shadows.

#2 was taken in Santa Clause Village in Finland :D, I was getting 'the look' from the owners so didn't manage to photograph from my intended angle. I was also hoping to turn one of the elfs so it was looking at me but I had no change and had to move on.

I'll look to view and comment all everyone's threads this week...

Cheers all.

I like the second one best; lovely image with great colours. Possibly needs a little cropped off the bottom, but otherwise spot on.

The first one I think works less well; the lighting looks too "caught in the headlights" too me. Nice object though :)

Hi matey......

Finland,Santa Claus village ,photography & JD...what more could you want

Nice collection of Elves there....given the restrictions you mentioned re the beady eye from the shop keeper I think you've done well...great DOF

1st image...have to agree...in the headlights but hey , you're on your jollies so what the heck

....waiting patiently for holiday shots now...:D

#2 for me, lovely shot but like the others would just crop off the bottom a bit and if its available a little bit more space above their heads.

Great capture though, the little sign makes it.

Funnily enough, it was his Euro that I had him hold....he kept a tight hold though :naughty:

:D you've got a reputation then Andy...oh..no... I thought I was bad...

Me too would really like to see the bottom cropped off of the second shot, would look real good in a wider format :)

Sounds like a great holiday you had, look forward to seeing the shots !!!!

Yeah I think it's number 2 for me also

Hi Andy, sounds like a great trip you had. Number 2 for me.

:D you've got a reputation then Andy...oh..no... I thought I was bad...

2 for me too needs closer crop though I agree

Two good images there for Handmade, and hope you had a good hollibobs. No.2 image for me too, love the colours in it :)

Another fan for number two. Quite a tricky shot with the light background on the left and darker on the right. I agree about a slight crop.

I want to see some holiday snaps too. Please post a link here if you put a new thread up with them.

Thanks, all. Here's an edit of #2. I'm trying to get my butt off the couch and make my Money photograph...but The Walking Dead has just started....:D

I suspect it may not be 'the done thing' to bump your own submission, but it appears to have got lost....

Cheers all and I've just spent an hour viewing and commenting, if I've missed yours please let me know and I'll nip over

Nothing wrong with a bit of blatant self promotion! Sorry I missed it before; don't know why.

I like your money shot a lot, especially the closer crop. I think it's spot on appart from the coin not being in focus. Difficult to achieve I know, but that would have turned a very very good shot into a perfect one IMHO.

:agree:
Doesn't take anything away from your photograph Andy but as Mark said, it would make it perfect. Iain

Yeah, I did ruminate about getting the coin in focus and sharp but when I did it looked like the coin had been plonked in in PP.

Cheers

Great money shot, I wonder how long it took you to capture it at its apex? Love handmade also, sweet, Mandy

Let's say, it took a while and 25:50 is not the time to do these...

Cheers....

Two very goof shots for handmade and money.
Love the money shot,i. Might have to give it a try myself sometime

Do it early while you're wide awake and have time to do it without going :bonk:

2nd money shot is better Andy, the closer crop works better for me.

Thanks, Michael.

Another vote for the closer crop on the money shot

Thanks for popping by...

Cheers all.

"Heads I win, Heads I win, heads I win!"

I took my camera about of its bag and looked at Isabelle...as always she frowned and tried to make a hasty exit, but I caught her :D

Not my final submission because she was ssoooo fidgety and uninterested.

I have a few Ideas that I know to photograph this week.

Cheers all...

She may have been fidgety, but it's a great shot none the less, and I love how it ties in with your money shot!

The nail varnish is a tiny bit distracting, but that's minor and something you'd have been brave to try changing!

Thanks, I've often pointed out nail varnis in other members submissions :bonk:

Edit below.

A great take on the theme and a really good shot.

Thanks.

Win. Nice shot - DOF just right. But unfortunately have to agree about the nail varnish. Mike

Cheers, see edit.

:agree:
Great shot and DoF

 see edit.

That's quite a good shot Andy, looks like you caught her at just the right time.

Cheers, right time, indeed, right before she said, "No more, Dad, I'm off!".

Love this portrait, there's something very genuine about it

Yeah, many thanks.
