weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

Love the syrup-drip! There's something very tangible about the picture.

Really like your 'Sweet', suits the theme perfectly and love the colour and simplicity of it.
Some great shots sofar, look forward to watching the coming weeks.

Thanks, main issue I had was with the lighting. It was tangible on my tongue

Thanks, I have a few ideas for Secure...just need to make time to make them...

With an 8 year old in the house, any chocolate is soon munched. So when Secure came up I thought this would make a humorous take on the theme.

A Cadbury's Creme Egg was harmed in the making of this photograph.

I have a few other ideas that I hope to be able to make during the week. Good luck all and keep up the great work...

Great idea  I prefer the cream egg shot as the kit kat image looks like you've just placed the padlock in front of the kit kat. Maybe would have worked better if you could see the padlock going through the wrapper. If I was being super critical I think the cream egg could have done with being rotated a little more so you didn't have the barcode in view just the Cadbury cream egg logo.

I hate being that critical as I know how much work goes into thinking up these ideas and creating the shot. Hope the comments help

Made me laugh too, all show good thinking. I prefer the creme egg but both are well executed

I prefer the cream egg one too. I wish I had the imagination of you lot!

Like Phil says, its hard to criticise when I couldnt think of this in a million years but... I agree with the barcode suggestion but also I wonder if it would have been as good with the padlock coming through the egg and seeing it locked?

Brilliant both shots inspired but I like the Cream Egg the most

Just a thought - I wonder if you could have a chain from the padlock either running out of shot or to a kitchen cupboard door handle?

Lock up your creme eggs could be a big slogan for Cadbury's, post them the shot Andy you never know what you might get back. ;)

Cream egg for me, Cracking idea for the theme and well taken and lighting

Love this idea, fabulous! Loving the creme egg one

Thanks, now I need to move away from chocolate related themes...
:gag:

Hahaha, this made me laugh. I prefer the detail in the Creme Egg shot.

Cheers, it's good to make people laugh

Really appreciate the critique  sometimes, and this was one of them, I get so focused on the outcome, I totally missed the bar code. Putting the padlock through the end of the Kit-Kat.... b****r...

Thanks very much.

The lock was an issue, when I locked it, the egg broke...:shake:

Imagination....we all have it. It's just about letting loose and not constraining yourself. Think about the theme and let your imagination go wild...trust me, it's all in there

I'm surprised you didn't do a picture of Jackie holding your cheque book!

Nice ideas and good shots.
The egg is my favourite and I agree with another comment that the lock shoud be trough thekit kat wrapper

Ha..ha...cheque book...well hidden...:help:

I take your point about the wrapper...I might have a reshoot...I have chocolate all over the place.

Lock up your creme eggs could be a big slogan for Cadbury's, post them the shot Andy you never know what you might get back. ;)

Nice one...could do with a few hundred creme eggs :gag:

Cream egg for me, Cracking idea for the theme and well taken and lighting

Thanks, this was one of quite a few. I don't do much light painting but it was enjoyable/frustrating in equal amounts.

I've booked Friday as leave and hope to make the one I originally thought of.

Thanks all for the comments...critique, although sometimes a tad painful, makes me work harder.

Cheers.

Sweet - Great shot with the syrup. I can the hi-key background.

Secure - I love the idea for this Andy. My preference is for the creme egg as it shows the padlock off better.

Another well thought out couple of shots there Andy, prefer the first one. Very sharp and nice lighting, agree with the slight roatation not for the barcode. I didn't really notice that but more to highlight the edge of the lettering on Creme. Background really helps the colours pop.

Good work mate :)

I love these Andy, are you going to fit a cream egg into all your themes from now- that would be a challenge:lol::lol:

I prefer #1, I think #2 would work better if more of the padlock was on show. The detail on both is great and great use of lighting!!

Hi Andy
Just doing a bit of selective catching up.

Sweet - the syrup is a well thought out, well executed shot with a lovely background and translucency. The edited version is best for me because it is such a clean image

Secure - like most people I prefer the choc egg - probably better on theme and a brighter image. The shadow on the kit kat one distracts.

Your shots are very well composed and your dentist must make a fortune out of you.:D

Well the idea I had for Friday has been 'done'...:bat: I might still make it though.

Cheers and and I'll catch up on yours as well. PM me if I miss you :D

This would be a challenge as they're not sold all year! It would be a VERY good excuse to bulk buy them though;-)

Lots of interesting takes on this theme so far, so mahhoosssivvveee well done to all

Litter....annoys me, really annoys me. In the grand scheme of things I realise it's a minor issue.

But...why just drop it on the floor ...bin it.

I went out with this idea in mind and really struggled to convey the sigh I give when walking in my local parks and happening upon litter/rubbish. Someone sat on a log in the middle of a beautiful park, scoffed a box of chocolates and just dumped the box and rappers :bat:

I spent a cold hour ' working the scene'.

As always C&C welcome.

I have 2 other ideas: one involves venturing out on my own in the ffffrrreeezzzinnnggg cold and I might make the other one Thursday night.

Cheers and good luck with your week 3

Second one, no question, the litters much more obvious in the frame due to your composition. Getting down low like that can really make all the difference to a shot. LIke the interpretation too!

Well, went out and bought loads of sweets this morning...most have gone :gag:

This wasn't easy..I used my 105mm and the DOF is sssoooo shallow.

I have few more ideas but thought I'd go for an obvious one to start with: sweet syrup....:D

Cheers.

Week 4 Sweet by andysheader (Posiview), on Flickr

Like that a lot! Lovely lighting!!

not another creme egg, horrible things, but do prefer that shot out of the 2

Sweet - I really like the syrup with the glow and bubbles but I think it would be better with less height. I find the syrup just looks a flat yellow after a couple of cm but tbh it could be my screen.

Secure - Much prefer the kitkat, the creme egg looks a bit too saturated to me but again, I could be wrong.

Thanks. I might park this one for the reshoot..

Thanks, I still need to work on my lighting.

Very quirky though process there! LOL.

I like it though and for me, I'd definitely say the creme egg shots the better one

Thanks, it's my favourite as well...

:cuckoo: Horrible things...how very dare you...:D

I absolutely love the creme egg & kit kat shots.

Thanks....they were yummy!

Thanks for the feedback. The height has been mentioned and I'd tend to agree.

The colour on the egg was pushed a tad but not too much.

Once again you deliver Andy. Love both shots, the egg just edging it for me. You must have a sweet tooth ;)

Thanks a lot.

Note to self....no more chocolates a props...

Industry....love it. I was going to drive over the Thorpe Marsh power station, but thought better of it...been a tad selfish lately so opted for an inside photograph.

First attempt didn't work. Need more practice at focus stacking...:(

I decided to do something text based and clean. Not easy at all: getting the letters to face forward, stay still and contain the shadows. I think the DOF was a bit shallow and I'm going to reshoot tomorrow.

Also still can't work out how to keep the BG (which was pure white card) white when using OCF...any tips would be appreciated

Also have a few more ideas....just need the time do make them.

Anyway, my submission for Industry.

Andy i really like this is simple, but very effective, the only thing thats bothering me is the Y it looks a bit too bright and for me is fading into the background, i think its too square on to whatever is lighting it?

My thoughts exactly, good effort though.

Nice simple (apart from the set up) and effective shot.
It works for me, the arrangement of the letters, the extra dimensions from the shadows.

As for the BG, I'm having similar issues with my pencils.
I find it's whiter when I fire the flash straight on it, which is why I think I need a second flash unit for firing at the BG when lighting other than straight on.
Or it could just be that the WB needs manually setting!

Another thread that I've missed, all very good photographs and fitting themes very well.

Quick off the mark with industry, simple but affective.

Thanks, quite strange what you miss when you're focused. Never even saw the bright Y, even in post. I was also trying very hard to get the letters facing forward when having them at an angle seems better. I'm off for a reshoot...possibly not a good idea after quaffing burbon :D

Cheers...there are a lot to see and missing one or two is quite easy...best ensure I've posted on yours

Couple more....I told Isabelle not to touch the set up...and when I said, "Isabelle, have you been doing something you shouldn't"...butter wouldn't melt :D

No more of these. Need to get out in the cold for a real industrial photograph

NB, just seen the dark patch on #1...ggrrrrrr :bonk::bonk::bonk:
