weekly Posiview's 2012 ....week 52 Busy added...finished!

Great images, cant wait to see some more.

Thanks...I can't wait for the next theme to take more :D

All good images so far, but I really love the mono spiral staircase. Very artistic! :)

Thanks, felt a bit of a plonker standing on to of the rail while folk walked up and down the stairs...:cuckoo:

Hi Andy, still catching up with threads so apologies for not getting to you earlier.

Cracking start to your 52, can't fault any of the shots. Love the plug hole shot for direction and the spiral staircase works really in both colour and mono.

As someone else mentioned the fear shots reminded me of the Jawas from Star Wars, lol and they did scare me as a nipper hehehehe.

Can't wait to see more of your 52 :)

Thanks, blooming Neil (mentalblock)..he was supposed to be scared stiff not left giggling...:D

A great take on Fear for this week, think I prefer the 1st.

Something really sinister about someone lurking behind the curtains :)
Indeed, #1 for me as well.

Prefer the ist Fear one , somethings not quite right with the second but i cant put my finger on it , great take on it though.

Cheers

Steve

Yeah, I agree...I actually find that one quite funny now....could be the mother in law trying to get in (she's a star really).

Cheers all and not long now to week 3.

Great Idea for fear, I prefer the curtain one as there seems to be too many distractions around the door imo.

playing catch up again.

The second lot of direction, i really like the texture and depth in the B/W conversion of the staircase.

Fear the first one with the curtain does it for me, i get a sense of depth off it, and can honestly imagine someone peering in, the door one doesn't work quiet as well for me, just looks like two dots on the door.

Glad you're in Andy it was your comment to me about the 52 on one of the meets that encouraged me to give it a go

Thanks, Liz.

The curtain one does it for me as well. Quite eerie.

It's quite hard keeping up with the 52s because there are plenty of them, but I hope I've commented on most so far.

Good luck with your 52...you'll have a blast and learn loads...

OOoooo what some great shots !!!!

Wk1: I like how you have caught the sense of direction with clear water, great exposure and composition

The staircase pic is great, spotted it on flikr first - really like the light and shadows in it

Wk2: The curtains have it by far for me... what a great idea - Bang on theme

Really Looking forward to seeing your Sigh Pic !!

Hiya Andy,

I like your plughole, very imaginative, but for me your spiral staircase is the one. Very nice.

Argh, what is that behind the curtains? Love it.

Direction : Of the three, I prefer the last one, I struggled to make out what the first one was, as you said, the motion blur of the water probably caused that.

Fear : Of the two I think the first is better... it looks, thanks to the patterns on the curtain, that there's some fingers curling around the edge... Nicely done.

As for seeing so many ideas taken, don't look at the other threads until you've got your own shot, that way your ideas can't be influenced by what others may have done.

Wow - your second year of 52s - you are a glutton for punishment. I'll also leave comments on flickr as it is easy to track the pictures! Thanks Mandy

Crazy indeed.

Thanks.

Thanks, I've done my sigh photograph and I've captured sigh, but not as goos as I really wanted. Might post for feedback.

I do like the staircase...might get a print.

Curtains, yeah, that would be me...:geek:

Thanks, I really try not to be influenced by others but I do have to comments on an on-going basis because I won't be able to comment on all if I wait until I've made my photograph.

Thanks all.

Lots of interesting takes on this theme so far, so mahhoosssivvveee well done to all

Litter....annoys me, really annoys me. In the grand scheme of things I realise it's a minor issue.

But...why just drop it on the floor ...bin it.

I went out with this idea in mind and really struggled to convey the sigh I give when walking in my local parks and happening upon litter/rubbish. Someone sat on a log in the middle of a beautiful park, scoffed a box of chocolates and just dumped the box and rappers :bat:

I spent a cold hour ' working the scene'.

As always C&C welcome.

I have 2 other ideas: one involves venturing out on my own in the ffffrrreeezzzinnnggg cold and I might make the other one Thursday night.

Cheers and good luck with your week 3

Looks a bit too posed for my liking, the wrappers are obviously brand new and carefully placed etc. Also not sure about the log splitting the shot along the bottom 3rd line.

The spoilt "unspoilt wilderness" idea is good though and other than the log the 2nd pic particularly is well taken.

I first looked at it and though "walking in to cold woods and finding some chocolate... sigh". It does look a little "staged" and doesn't convey the idea of litter to me - perhaps the litter should be more varied. Sorry :(

I fully understand why you would sigh, but the image hasn't pulled off the portrayal of the emotion. Putting that aside, I think the 2nd image works better.

I'd rather the DOF was greater as the trees look odd out of focus.
A little more of a colour boost may help the image too.
Good to see you 'working the scene', which has paid off as the composition and wide angle have helped a difficult subject!

Let's hope the themes get better for you all, as without taking the easy route of a portrait, this week is hard.

I really like the idea on the theme as this is also one of my pet hates and does make me sigh on many an occasion. However the images do look a little contrived and they lose a little of the impact because of this. Saying that I do really like the perspective of the second shot as you do get the feel of an unspoilt woodland being mindlessly littered.

Looks a bit staged - Yes...

Do I mind - Nope

I like the thought put into capturing the theme, yes some of the wrappers could have looked more naturally fallen, but really like the composition of the shots and certainly Well on theme

Nice one Andy

I like the idea but agree it looks too staged, especially in the second shot. The first one looks a tad more realistic and maybe cropping the root/ branch out on the left would help?

Just my thoughts.

The 2nd shot is much better Andy, the composition works well, and the litter is certainly on theme.

I agree. Sorry I was a bit rushed earlier and hadn't meant to sound so negative!

I like the DOF in the first shot and the composition in the second!

Thanks for the feedback...it was arranged to an extent and I take onboard the feedback.

Criticism is what I need, even though it can be painful at times...:(

I won't be able to reshoot this one but I have another idea in mind for tonight or tomorrow night. :D

Cheers all and I hope I've commented on your posts...PM me if I have't...

I prefer no.1, especially the DoF and the colours, but do agree the litter looks a little too "posed" or new. Something about it doesn't quite say "litter", maybe just the fact that you don't often see chocolate boxes complete with wrappers thrown like that.

Cheers, mate. All taken on board for future reference....:D

If you need empty chocolate wrappers again let me know, can help out!

I love the shots but the litter is getting in the way which I realise is the point but I really mean I like the shots. Good colours and angles. I think if doing it again a variety of wrappers/rubbish would make for a more realistic litter dump. Maybe a couple of cans and a kebab container! Again happy to help :)

Moan alert....:shake:

In sum: oldest house for miles is at the bottom of our street. It's been for sale for a while and my daughter and I always have a sigh when we drive past and she says, "Can we buy it daddy!?".

I've been waiting all week for the ideal opportunity to get down their and make the photograph.

Anyway, waited until after dark, packed my camera gear, told my wife where I was going (she just shook her head), and it started to snow...:bonk:

Snow eased of so I walked down. 'For sale' sigh had gone...:bat:, wheely bins all over the place :bat: and bedroom curtains open :bat:

I was after a wide angle at 11mm from outside the house...no chance.

I managed to photograph from an alley  and wasn't too unhappy with what I managed to capture.

Hi Andy, I prefer the B&W shot of the house and what a lovely house!! I fully understand your daughter and yourself sighing as you walk past it!!

I like the way the road leads your eye down to the house, not sure if a tighter crop on the Lh to get rid of the tree would guide you in even more!!

Well done!

B&W by a large margin for me; the lighting in the colour one looks like indoor lighting; like it's a studio shot!

But in B&W, stunning!

mono gets my vote...

It's has to be the B&W for me too. A great shot very well composed  would be interesting to see if a tighter crop on the right would improve the shot.

B&W! Nice composition of shot. Looks a nice house,

I like the mono of the house shot, nice composition & lighting :)

Thanks all, I'll try a crop.

I had a quick look this morning and to make the photograph I want I'll amost be in their garden.

I might call it a day on this one...it has been one of the harder ones because I didn't want to use people - I did too many times last year.

Well nearly week 4...:D

What on earth was the theme for that one; "melt"?!!!

I really like that portrait - B&W suits it and there's humour as well.

B/w of the house for me Andy and i just love the portrait :lol::lol::lol:

Liking the latest sigh shot albeit from last year. A face only a mother could love :lol::lol:

Brilliant portrait Andy which looks great in B&W!!

Thanks all.

I feel a bit cheeky for posting it because it was from last year..but it still make me smile. I have a print on our kitchen wall :gag:

Right onto sweet!!
