You're gonna need one or two fast lenses for location work but a decent zoom like a 24-70 will ultimately be a more versatile offering, especially when you can utilise the D700s high ISO settings

The 85mm lenses are good for portraits.

Was just looking at that lens and do like the look of it and the images it produces. Qucik question aswell, the lencarta safari lights are they bowens s fit too?

So i've bought the Nikon D700 so full frame so the 85mm f1.8 will that be fine on the camera? not up to speed with the nikon lenses yet lol
Yes it will, it's fine on mineI'd also invest in a 77mm lens cap and use that on the screw-in hood as it's a pain taking the hood off.
