Poor poor dogs..

A microchip costs something like £15 to put in. Why all dogs don't need chipped by law i'll never know.

So sad, I hope they catch the evil person that did it.

:agree: would mean that the offenders stood a chance of being caught

And you think an owner that could do this to their dog would pay for a chip?

I completely agree with you btw, it's just not going to happen - people still don't pay car insurance FFS!

I hope the person(s) who are responsible for this are caught in a way that an extremely large tazer gun is required for a large amount of time.

I know it's not going to happen but it would be nice. I think all breeders should have to put chips in any dog they breed, for a start it would prove that they actually care for the future wellbeing of the animal. But again, you're going to have dodgy breeders not conforming.

You just have to hope a neighbour or someone who knows the owner will come forward. 2 dogs can't vanish without neighbours noticing.

B*$^ARDS,i'd hang them if they were caught. could they not off just handed them into a rescue centre

thought this was going to be about dogs in rescue centre's with it just being xmas.
We just lost our dog a week before, and are scattering his ashes tomorrow on the beach.

sorry to hear that martin..

like you id have to try very hard not to hurt the person(s) responsible for this.. and no doubt someone will say thats wrong but its the only way these kind of people learn.

Absolutely sickening :(

Why anyone would do such I thing and to make such an effort to kill them is beyond me.

I hope they get caught too, trouble is they'll only get a slap on the wrist.

Whoever it is it took two people to do it.

A lurcher is no lightweight dog.

Sick in the head doesn't describe them, and I guarentee in this country they will no get their just deserts. A quick smack of the wrist and banned from having a dog for 6 months.

It angers me becasue I love dogs but can't have one through alergies.

That is just awful, how anyone could do that is beyond me :(
As said compulsory microchipping would onlywork if people actually had it done and you can bet the sort of person that does this wouldn't, or wouldn't bother to change the details if the dog was already chipped.
Most good breeders already do have some form of identification on the pups they breed, but these are lurchers and as such cross breeds :(
Just don't get me started on puppy farmers :bang:

 Barbaric, but then I am afraid that this is the world we live in today :'(

Been better off to just let them go and take a chance or "dump them over the centres gates as they used to do with us.:(

Could have been failed "illegal hare coursing dogs" sort of thing that the illegal hare coursing people do.

Having worked in a Dog Rescue centre, nothing shocks me anymore and would shock you at some of the stories that are not publically released!

We saw some awful sights and being land owners come across these coursers on a regular basis.

Very very sad  though, no animal should be allowed to suffer like this, hope they catch the persons responsible and do the same to them.

Yep, my 2 are chipped and tattooed.

I'm not fond of dogs, and would never have one as a pet, but this is despicable. Wanton cruelty.

As far as I am concerned, crimes against the person - and crimes like this - should be harshly punished. Forget about all the theories of punishment - deterrence and rehabilitation don't seem to work very well anyway - just focus on punishment. Imprisonment with hard labour? The chain gang? Something public, and humiliating?

Calling the kind of people that do this 'bloody animals' is rather insulting to animals, but what I what I would actually like to call them is somewhat unprintable.

However, I am against 'compulsary' micro-chipping [and yes, my two dogs and the previous 3 cats were all chipped] for a very simple reason - it simply won't work. It will be just one more bit of legislation that those of a normal law abiding nature are doing anyway, and whilst there will be some pet owners that are good, decent pet owners that haven't done it for whatever reason, should they really be forced to do it by law? [especially as my guess is that as soon as it becomes law, it was also increase in price, because the government will have to take an extra tax cut to assist in policing the law  ]
Should they, when we all know that the kind of owner that does this kind of thing will never do it? We know the police and/or the RSPCA wouldn't have resources to police such a law and any cases found such as this can be easily punished under existing laws - this would still have happened with compulsary chipping, that's the bitter truth, animal cruelty is a crime committed by criminals - compulsary doesn't feature in their minds.

For the rest - education not legislation thanks, and I say that as very firm advocate of microchipping, pet insurance and anything else that helps keep you and your pet safe and happy.

I'd be more inclined to think this wasn't done by the owner/s but someone who has stolen the dogs as a prank. I see no reason why even a sick owner who wants rid of the dogs would go to this much trouble.

Poor poor dogs. I don't think I can say much more, why didn't they just drop them at a rescue centre, someone would have loved them.

That is revolting
As a dog owner i can't even contemplate how anyone could do that to a dog

Whoever did it will probably whine they came from a broken home and get away with a slapped wrist.

I'm not sure why behaviour of scum is tolerated so much. Perhaps in the effort to become more civilised we've encouraged the savage and a little barbarism directed at these kind of people might improve their behaviour more than the wishy washy hug a hoody attitude.

I don't have pets and I'm not particularly an animal lover but I can't get my head around why someone would be so cruel to a defenceless animal. Makes you wonder what their next trick will be????

My original thoughts too. A prank or some kind of evil revenge.

:agree:

I'm sure the owner wouldn't do it for all to see either.

It's just the world we live in now and I hope the dogs did not suffer a slow and painful death. How anyone could do that, I just don't know... :(

It almost looks like someone trying to send a message or a warning. Why you would do that to two dogs I don't know, very cruel.

That's what I'd be inclined to think also.

If someone wanted to hurt me then to do something to any of my pets would really do it. A scratched car can be repaired, even a broken nose can be made to look normal again but pets can be replaced physically but not emotionally.

Hopefully there will be an update on this during the week. I think it's been a few days since the story broke.

This was deliberate, and the people responsible wanted the animals to suffer and be found. That's obvious.

Why? I don't know. Some sort of personal issue, or just to show how "hard" they are and get a street rep. It doesn't matter. Just find them and make an example of them.

This really is a sick person/persons (i reckon 2 people were involved) and hopefully they will get caught. I'm not a dog lover but don't like seeing pets badly treated and I worry about what other things these people must be capable of doing in the meantime.

Unfortunately they are unlikely to get caught. Its only a few years ago that The Stafford Trust raised over £2000 as a reward for someone who tied a Staffordshire Bull Terrier to a post on a golf course in Birmingham and burnt it alive. The assumption was made that the dog was alive was there would be no reason to tie it to a post if it had already been killed.

Despite various members of Rescue going around the area with flyers and lots of publicity no one ever came forward with information.

Ultimately there are some horrible people on this planet who do awful things to both animals and humans.

On a happier note Frankie has had the offer of a home this weekend and we've had a lovely rescheduled Christmas Party today for Stafford Rescue and a walk up to High Dam in the Lake District.

thats great, hope he's well looked after and fits in well to his new home

i'll just say ******** ***** *** ********** *** now, to save the TP swear filter!

I haven't looked at the story. Quite simply I can't as I know it would both upset and anger me.

But I spend a good few years volunteering at a sighthound rescue on a reasonably regular basis. Sadly I saw some horrifically mistreated dogs in that time - lurchers often get the short straw due to the fact they were 'used' as hunting dogs by poachers and people doing hare coursing.

To this day I genuinely don't think I could control myself if I came face to face with someone who did such unspeakable things to those dogs. If you want to talk about the scum of the earth - well it is them who I speak of.
