Pigeon feeding in city centres.

If someones sole pleasure is one that breaks the law and inconveniences/upsets/annoys others, then they need to be stopped. Irrespective if that is all they have in life.

Imagine if someones only pleasure in life was driving fast and that was taken away from them. I doubt we'd have the pious, sanctimonious indignation regarding the wellfare of someone breaking the law that we do here.

I've walked down the street again. No bird feeders. It looks like something has been done about it.

It's vermin feeding, a danger to the public in terms of hygine and possibly being struck with birds never mind the additional bird droppings posing a slip risk and the uneaten food encouraging rats. It's only right (if) she has been moved on, she has been moved on. In the same way a speeding motorist is stopped from their crimes, even if it is their sole pleasure, it's an illegal one.

If satire is really the best way you can address my point, I would urge you to try to think harder on my posts.

It's a busy padestrianised street . It's a menace . Why not feed the things in a quiet park rather than on a busy street where loads of folk walk.

If you think it's littering why would you want her to do it in a nice park?

I worked in environmental services for my local authority and feeding birds is discouraged even in your garden as it encourages mice and rats. If you continually feed birds and there is a vermin problem you can be held responsible but since all councils view these things differently then they should be your first port of call.

Fair enough, but feeding pigeons is not likely to kill someone.

You raise a valid point. I'd rather she didn't do it at all. She is littering biodegradeable matter. In a park that might be a nutrient for the plants, grass.

It's really the lesser of two evils. A bit like a speeding motorist, one goes 10mph above 70 in a quiet motorway, one goes 10mph above 30 near a school. Both are bad, one is less bad. The park is away from large numbers of people also, where she used to drop the feed was busy and people would have to duck to avoid lots of low flying pigeons. In the park, there are less people to be upset.

Of course the best option is for her to realise the errors of her ways and completely desist from doing this. I've raised this issue with the council and this week not seen this happen once. I hope I've made a difference.

Doesn't need to kill, all it needs is one of those to hit someone in the head, or eye to do serious bodily harm. Never mind the health risks etc

Pidgeon lovers of the world unite! Lets organise daily feeding sessions in Glasgow to replace their lost daily food due to council meddling.

Oh ok, how about this...

Pigeons played a vital part in World War One as they proved to be an extremely reliable way of sending messages. Such was the importance of pigeons that over 100,000 were used in the war with an astonishing success rate of 95% getting through to their destination with their message.

Its as dignified and eloquent as the majority of your posts. The difference is mine are in the minority as opposed to the majority of yours.

Once again we have to bear the brunt of one of your rants that the majority of people wouldn't even spend a few moments thinking about.

You don't have to bare anything. If you don't like the thread and it's contents and your feelings on the subject are clear, can you please explain why you are posting here. I posted this thread for advice on an issue I had, I posted the outcome of it and my reasoning for being annoyed about it.

Can you please explain what your issue is with me taking proactive issue against petty crime near where I work?

Where's the rule saying every post has to be helpful. This is a forum, people are free to post what they like, especially in OOF.

Still a nuisance, and why the complaint was more than likely dealt with by community officers, rather than the police. It doesn't mean because its petty it should be completely ignored. I also wanted to tap into the experts on wildlife here to see if I had the basis of a complaint, which I did.

And as stated before. One of the great things about this forum is I can post whatever I want on whichever thread I want within reason. So that's what I'm doing.

I think your view on this is petty and juvenile. In fact from where I'm sitting I can see a family feeding pigeons and other birds and you know what no one is jumping up and down ranting and raving or rushing around for a community support officer. In fact everyone is behaving normally. Why don't you try it. You might lower your blood pressure and god forbid even smile.

Hey that's great. But my view is that it's a menace and the council reply was many complain about pigeon feeding. So guess I'm not alone. Looks like pigeon feeding in Glasgows streets isn't happening anymore. Diddums.

What's a mundane life box? Can you please tell me your powers of telepathy are to know my aims in life?

Diddums!! How old are you?? I don't need to be telepathic to know your aim in life is to spend it taking the moral high ground on every issue that in some tiny way offends you.

As you said, the off topic area is free for a wide range of discussion. I don't rant, I post topics for discussion. If you do not like these threads, just ignore them. It is not hard. It appears many seem to claim the moral superiority, have a look at the bull fighting thread. Not me.
