Yes
just out of interest how many people on this site have had their work published???

ive had just three

There are quite a few Pro photographers on here with published work, and many amateurs who have had success at getting work published. :)

I've got a bunch appearing in the press this week from an awards bash at the weekend. In the past had other stuff published in various mags when I was a CG artist.

I guess Diego (Pete) would have a fairly high count as a sports tog.

Depends how you meen published? I have had plenty of shots published on websites (IE the ones I make) I have had a couple of shots in textbooks, one photo in a paper......probably some more I cant think of.

Only the one in print...

This was published in "Comprehensive Guide to Digital Photography" by John Clements. Find it at Amazon

As a teenager I used to make my pocket money selling ‘photos of sports meetings to my local paper the Woking News and Mail. I took them on a Zenith and developed the films in my bedroom.
They weren’t great ‘photos and I think the editor was being kind in taking them, but they were published and I was paid £15 per published image.
So yes I am a published photographer.
I also have one of my photos, a panoramic of a pub interior hanging in the pub in which it was taken, which is nice for me to see.
I think I’ll try to get some ‘photos in magazines in the coming year, I don’t know why but it might be fun trying.

I've provided pictures for free to a couple of new local 'zines (because friends were on the editorial team and I was happy to help out), plus for a couple of websites where people have asked. Also I'm supplying some free to a new web-zine that's being launched soon for a bit of mutual publicity.

I've had a few pictures printed in commercial publications - a couple of times when I was asked, and once when a load were stolen (Birmingham Sunday Mercury, naughty journo...). On all occasions I expected payment, and apart from the last two photos (still waiting for the cheque, that was Loaded mag ;)) have been paid.

I would never supply photos to a commercial mag or paper for free, simply because I feel that would be undermining those freelance photographers who make a living out of it. And of course, it helps pay for new kit! But mine were one-offs really, it's not like it happens to me much.

nice to see people getting paid for their work

i was interested in people who have jobs and do pics for a hobby

Suppose it depends how you interpret 'published' ... :D ... I've sold a few as cards but not been published in the more literal sense ...

:p

Yes, my work has appeared in books (landscape/travel), calenders, magazines (photography/walking/dogs/Yorkshire), web pages, and Canon Europe licenced one of my images to use in their publicity material.

I'm an amateur photographer, and any income goes towards my kit.

les your wot i want to be ha ha
seeling pics and buying stuff to take more pics

I've had about 6 shots published in magazines and maybe the same amount published in local newspapers.

I've also had some shots published in programs for events I have covered before and the local yacht club has quite a fair amount of wallspace with shots of mine displayed for different classes.

ive had 3 published in Digital Photo, one was second place in one of the comps, one was 8th(i think) and one was a reader challenge thing

also had one used by a motosport chap in his publicity leaflet thing and on his site, and ive had several used by the firm i work for(though to be fair, they would use mine, cos its cheaper than a proper tog)

I supply nail images to a client who uses them to advertise her business every month in Professional Beauty, The Guild, and Scratch magazine.
The same images are also used the product catalogue, and though th above began as a hobby its what helps pay for my new equipment now.

Marian Newman, a session tech and author, also uses one of my pictures of her in her monthly features and write-ups in the beauty industry.
I get my nail/beauty competition entries printed in the above mags when I place in the competitions too.

Also came 2nd last year with one of my Poppy shots in a Which photography comp.
My dream is a front cover for one of the beauty above mags ... I have some way to go yet!

6 Issues of Motard Magazine, including full report and photos from an International Race in Alpe D'Huez. Also images take at Huez shown in Supermoto Magazine.

4 times in TMX (Dod should beat me with TMX ;) ), 1 in MCN, 1 in TimesOnline.

Article on Kids Powerboat Racing in World of Powerboats Magazine.

Got quite a few images on posters that racers give away at Supermoto races.

Big advert for Supermoto Race at the Titanic Quarter in Belfast last year, these posters were all over Belfast - well chuffed with those!

Photos from Records Week in Coniston last year.

Would love to have more printed but I don't push my race images as much as I should!

Carl.

I've had my HDR guide published in a 4 page spread in Professional Photographer last novemeber. That was pretty damn awesome. I've done calendars, press, commercial, had work in galleries, sold prints and various other things. I don't like to mention things until they're 100% finished, just incase I jinx them. :D

Hmmm - I had a dozen or so pics printed in Kenzie's 'auto'biography! 20,000 printed no idea how many sold!

But thats it!

Yeah I got my picture on the front page last year..:woot:

Nothing much but it was a start..

Twas a proud moment..

Quite a few for the ATC, Evening Star, local press, internet and of course my own work in a local gallery.

You have to be quite pro-active and pushy sometimes but it pays off.

King.

(Dod should beat me with TMX ;) )
LOL, had a few in there. Also Horse and Hound, (or was it Country Life? ), Scottish Equestrian, Farmers Weekly , couple of posters for SACU, all the Scottish Motox champs programme covers this year. Probably more but thats all I can remember off hand :) Oh, a few of the local papers for equestrian and rally pics.

I have had a few published in Camera Mags, a few comp entries have done well. I have done a number of commercial shoots and sold images from my website.

*Snip*

To be honest - I think it's good to challenge yourself, so I enter a number of comps, to see how I can get on.

Nice one Neil..

very well done to all of us!

During the Rugby season (union) my pictures get published in the local weekly paper, some of them are average some slightly better, no money involved, just do it for the fun of it,

Its ok having the equipment its getting the best out of it, thats the challenge! and I am still learning !!

I've had various band photo's published in local newspapers, also national music press. Alot of bands use my photo's on their websites, album covers, posters etc. Also recently i've been asked for permission for some of my aircraft photo's to be used in a high level worldwide publication. Oooh, get me!
Dean:)

In the mid 90s I was getting 40 - 50 published every week in a national magazine but the job only lasted about 6 months. They were only small pics though.

Yes I have had my work published in Photographic Mags, Travel Mags, Walking Mags, Travel Guides, web sites. Most of my sales are through the Alamy agency (stocks great if you have full time job) but I have re-invested the money in lots of new kit...

my girlfriend's always teasing me about being published she has at least 3 of her photos published every week :( (but i tell her being an estate agent doesn't count) (i'm right arn't i?)
