Not exactly a to z but the PhotoShop elements 9 book by Scot kelby and mat kloskowski is all you need I rate it and a lot of other people

I am the same, started using it a month ago and even the basic features baffle me.![]()

i reckon once we find out how to use it we will be saying its easy![]()
Try your library for earlier editions of the book (if not the current version) and if it seems helpful, it might be worth purchasing.
Get a subscription to "Digital Photo" magazine , they have very good videos included on a CD that cover Elements and PS. I've found them very useful.
