OTOH their t&c state the licence can be renewed at the end of 12 months "at the current price" which surely means todays current price.. or does it?
If it were the price that it is now, the would say the price, wording it that way it probably means the current price when you renew. What that is depends on how many people they get to sign up with the new offer.
From the outside it looks like their plans may not be working out. The the single app price was £17.58. Then they offered Photoshop and Lightroom to owners of CS3 onwards for half price if they signed up before 31st Dec. Now the offer is open to anyone. Wait longer and they could offer the CC suite for £10.
Not automatically changing single app Photoshop users to the new pricing was a bit underhand imho. Not everyone monitors the internet for Adobe news.
Imho, what Adobe should have done, if they were going to the subscription model, was offer say Photoshop as a Creative Cloud option with a minimum of one years subscription, but after that year if you decided not to renew, you had the version of Photoshop up to date to that time as a perpetual licence. If there were some new features that you felt you needed in the future you would have to commit to another years subscription.
The changes in prices and offers over the last few months may be a sign that people are not being attracted to the subscription model. Add to that the problems Adobe have had with their security, and the personal details of users being taken, and I don't think that there is much confidence in them at the moment. :nono:
If I were buying, I wouldn't be doing it directly from Adobe becuase of their security issues.
I would never 'rent' software though. :nono: You never know how your circumstances can change, especially nowadays, and having the software stop working if you are unable to carry on playing is not appealing in any way.
