Hey everyone.
Following a comment from someone who came to my house, how many people here have their own photos hanging in their own home.
I'm not talking pictures of your children you've taken, but other pictures.
I don't have a single photo of mine on display in my home.
Is that strange????

Dean.

I don't think it's strange. I don't have any of my work on the walls though that is because i believe i haven't taken anything of good enough quality to hang on my walls.
Been in other houses with photographs taken by the occupant and was pretty jealous. A unique piece of art work really can finish a rooms decor off nicely.
All down to personal preferences though i guess!

I've got a big print of this on my wall, Dean. (You've seen it before at camera club.)

Click to see larger version (1750 x 800 pixels, 541 kB) in my SmugMug gallery.

I don't have any of my own pics on the walls, purely because I don't feel I have anything worthy of it at the moment. I suspect that isn't the case for you though?

I've got a large print of Sebastian Loeb signed by him and Daniel, there's also a large print of the stepson taken by the Mrs. but that's it.

We've planned to print more, we've even got loads of empty frames, but it's never been a priority.

I have at the last count 30 on the wall and 50 in display books. I change them periodically. Have to say they are much admired too, though I am super critical and can always find 'fault' with them :)

Yeah I've got one I took of Guisborough Priory

I've also decided to do a large panorama shot when conditions are favourable for my lounge wall and get an existing Angel Of The North shot for the top of my stairs

I get great satisfaction from looking at it knowing I took it and its a total original

I haven't got any of my own work up at the mo', did have some in the loo but got fed up with looking at them, you know how it is, you get a print and think it's good but as you progress you see all the faults.
However I'm very lucky to have a Swedish son-in-law who's aunt is Ulla Lemburg and she gave him some prints of her ouvre (think that's the right word) "Women of the World" so I've now got some proper inspiration! But I think it'll be a while before I put up my stuff along-side her's.

I have one, taken from Top of the Rock in NYC, minutes after the other half proposed :)

This was the original, the actual print was tarted up/cropped etc before printing. Was printed to A2 size I think, and everyone that sees it thinks its an Ikea Special :D Dunno if thats good or bad

I have them up in pretty much every room in the house why take them and not show them off!

I have a couple of largish print of a Cheetah, taken at WHF a couple of years ago, and a triptych of 3 night time shots in London.

I'm looking for another 3 to form another triptych to balance the room.

I've got a version of this one

Observe by =Jules=, on Flickr
And a couple of others on the wall. It was my wifes idea to get them put on canvas - she said she would be happy to put that on the wall so we did:)

Only got one of my dog on my wall, but my mates pub has at least 12 of shots of bands that have played there.

My study has about 30 of my photos on the walls of various things including some birdies, some planes and some great places I've been round the world. Not many of them would pass muster on here critique-wise but they're mine and I love seeing them.

Quite a few throughout the house, a mixture of prints and canvasses. Some of our daughter, past pets and some landscape stuff.

I've got a few up In my house too.

That's why I got into photography, I love capturing those special moments or views in life and its nice to sit back and remember them.

I do change them around periodically though.

I don't have any up, not because I don't like any, but mainly because I can never find the spare funds to order one, I tend to find something else to spend it on. I do want to get this printed later this month.

Hi, I've got a couple of shots I took in New Orleans and several others that I have made arty type prints of (canvas effect etc).

i've got a few as well and will be changing for some new ones shortly

I think every single picture on the wall is one of either mine or the other-halfs...
2x canvases, and about 12x prints

Strangely though, 90% are from the compact before getting a DSLR.

We have a pano canvas on our living room wall and an acrylic print in our bedroom.
We also have a multi print frame full of shots I have taken of our son.

Ultimately the prints make for a good talking point, also a good way to showcase your work :D

Got a couple up, one of our son running on a beach and the other of a sunset over a lake from Canada. My wife has informed me that she wants photo printed of a kind of landscape with a few buildings and a bit of colour, I haven't taken one like that :) so I'm under orders now.......just need to get my camera back from Nikon.

Got a few big A2 montages from our travels around the world up around the dining room and family room. Not not my greatest photographs, but full of memories and real talking points with visitors!

Most of my other photography is a bit too dark and industrial to make attractive interior decor, but I do have this on a large canvas in the study:

I've got this 34x14" print from the top of the Rockefeller Centre at my parents house, sadly I haven't got a shot of it on the wall as they put it up after I went back to uni.

Which came from this

Cool, some really nice work up in peoples houses.
It just seemed weird when a guest came to our house and commented that she expected to see loads of beautiful photography on my walls.
I guess i just don't take photos of anything I would like to see day in day out.
I have some prints up in the studio but they're really just samples.
I used to collect pages from music magazines with my work in with the idea of displaying them but didn't bother in the end.
Maybe one day I'll take a stunning landscape or similar to put up.
Glad to see there are still people printing their work though.
Dean.

My wife has encouraged me no end and we have several of my shots around the house.

I have to say that my photography has improved no end since I started getting stuff printed large. Shots that I rejected on screen my wife has insisted I get printed and it's amazing how much better a good print is compared to viewing on screen.

Only got one of mine hanging in the apartment, every other wall is taken up by paintings and other prints.

Got this as a 30x40 print on metallic paper mounted to a foam backed board, as I can't drill into the reinforced concrete walls, so needed it to be light. Got it hanging above the bed.

I do have other photos I'd like to show around the apartment, and my wife and friends bug me to do it, but I'm just too much of a critic. And it costs a fair bit too! So much so, I'm not really happy with the above because I forgot to clone out the marks on the glass before printing :(

I haven't got any displayed. I'm not sure I've taken many I'd think were worth hanging up.

But then, I spent a small fortune on professional toddler/baby photos, and they're not framed yet, let alone on the wall. I was chatting to a bloke in the frame shop who said he'd had people coming in to get their baby pics framed when the kids had left home...

I haven't at present, but (touch wood) should be moving to a bigger and better place before the end of this year, so the gloves will be off.

None on my walls, yet. A friend has hung three of my prints on his hallway wall, though, which gave me massive encouragement. Even better, he framed them himself as a learning project and has promised to frame a print for me when I take a shot that I'm happy with for my wall.

I've never printed anything to go up at home. I just have a few pieces that didn't sell at exhibitions.

This one of my girlfriend shot for a mini personal project, is up in the living room.

Random bit street photography which I'm bored of looking at in the office, along with another print of some architecture that was printed (really poorly) for me as part of a competition prize.

I generally find other things more interesting long term. We have a couple of really big old maps from the 1930s up in the living room. And a photo of a street scene from our suburb taken in the 1920s up in the hall.

Keep toying with the idea of printing some big panos I've taken in New York and Paris, but being in a rental apartment we aren't allowed to drill any substantial hooks into the walls. And I'm not sure if I trust those sticky hooks with a big frame.

I've got some 'macro' shots of my fingerprints on the wall. I always wanted to have a set of 5 in one long frame but ended up with 2 shorter frames instead. Just an inkpad and a piece of decent paper and then photographed close up and printed on 6x4's.
