Photo52 2012 : Join In !!! : Week 52 Busy

yeah I got loads of ideas already - shame I won't be able to implement any of em :(

at least not without finding willing models *sigh*

This is becoming more of a 'get a photo quick before you run out of time' exercise for me, rather than a thoughtful process of taking a pleasing image ... anyone else getting that feeling?
The challenge isn't bringing out my best photography as a consequence - I don't want to give up but unless things change I can see myself losing the enjoyment and interest of what should be a pleasing project :(

I think a few of us are struggling with enthusiasm just now! I would say don't rush to post something for the sake of it and then be down hearted because you get criticised or you're just not happy with it!

I've seen a lot of advice to take a few weeks off and see if that helps! Stick with us though, we'll all drag each other through

On that note I'm off up to Filey for our holiday. Fingers crossed there is a decent phone signal so I can keep up here! I'm fully loaded with camera gear so hope to get my theme shots!

Hi everyone....just been flicking through the last few pages of concerns.. As someone who did this last year... I can say you've every right feeling the pressure by now... I remember people losing interest left right and centre. But take a step back. Keep and eye in the themes and post when you can... When we got to the half way mark..and you're not far from it.. Suddenly the pace picked up.. We begun to see light at the end of the tunnel... In October I picked up an extra challenge... In November I picked up a third... And still finished the 52 ... Don't throw the towel in.. I'm on a 732 (2 x a day) right now and there are days I just don't want to post or even take a photo.. Least you have a theme to aim for... I try to make my shots interesting and not just of a baked bean tin..

Lastly... If all else fails.. Open a book.. Try some macro on the theme as text... Make it interesting with props... just an idea?

Don't give up though...finishing was like running a marathon... Exhausting. But worth it.

Basically, what Kev said.

Ive been to Flamborough Head all day and all I want to do now is get out and shoot my Pride. I know what I'm doing but in light of the TP meet tomorrow and THE look from Jackie....I'll give it a miss.

Stick with it all...:)

:plusone: for the above...... I'm feeling a little jaded ( god knows how Kev manages to keep coming up with cracking shots ) & the theme's are certainly a tad less inspiring than last year , for me at least >

Only got 1 thought thats do-able for the Pride & exciting it ain't...but thinking about it , it will challenge me a bit so gotta be worth a try .

Hang on in there everyone...over a 3rd of the way through & I suspect most people still in will admit to either having improved ( however slightly)or to have expanded their range of 'tography interests ....any more interests will mean I need to find a sugar daddy , give up work & spend all my time with the camera

This is my first time at this Challenge or, indeed, anything like it.

Some themes have been less inspiring to me than others and I have been slow to respond to those.

Like SamuelSlade (is that Kev?) I try to make my shots interesting and not just of a baked bean tin - but I have failed to do this on some and ended up taking a shot of a 'baked bean tin'.
I have been disappointed to have done this but I am trying to take the view that it is better to carry on asap and see what is the final outcome. Every week is not as enjoyable but that's no different to life in general anyway. But on the other hand I have really enjoyed those weeks where i have thought of a shot and gone out (or stayed in) to get it and succeeded.

I intend to perservere as best I can and I value the comments that i receive.

And if anyone wants to comment on any of my shots 'Alan that is just a baked bean tin' I shall understand :D

Hey Andy were you taking photos at Flamborough head? We're just up the coast now so hopefully planning a day trip there! But with midgets in tow I think it'll be a struggle to take many photos :bonk:

I've definitely improved, or at least it's made me think more about a shot before I take it! I have a sugar daddy, he's called Tescos MasterCard with over a years interest free credit:nuts: He's taken some abuse in the 7 months he's been in use! Now I have just under a year to clear it and 707 days until I retire from the military and become a house wife/ full time hobbyist 'tographer! Not that I'm counting, much!

Still thinking about this weeks theme, fingers crossed something jumps out at me soon!

Oh I have a weak but working signal up here, bonus!

Don't get me wrong....baked beans in a tin can be made interesting by the technique used during the shot and or post processing... Try light painting... A brilliant technique that's quick and simple... Be inventive and not just a torch... Try a bike light which flashes...try a mobile phone like I do.. Build a small housing so the glare isn't picked up in the camera... In pp I like to try cross processing if I'm keeping to colour and not aiming for the usual mono with a dab of colour... Framing can be interesting as well can surrealism??

Most of all.... Is it interesting to you... I gaffed in my weeks 12 - 14 I think... They were cr@p ... Literally because I rushed to catch up.. But I truly said tough.. I'm caught up...so you strike a balance .. Be upto date and post a weiner ... Then over the half way mark and you'll see a difference...

Lastly.... A baked bean tin at 1.8 with fairy lights turned to bokeh bubbles behind it can be interesting...

hmmm I'm not feeling the pinch yet, is that good? lol.

For me I like the challenge but sometimes I get an idea yet can't implement it (not having a studio or access to one is a pain) which can be annoying. Although it means I have to push myself a bit more.

Not even losing my camera has stopped me (I borrowed my old one back ).

I think my skills have certainly improved, and posting in the challenge at least gets you some comments, which is way better than posting in the main forum.

HI guy's n Gal's

just had a whizz round the section to catch up a little on leaving feedback...still got more to cover tomorrow.....

there's a few I've noticed that seem to be lacking in feedback- I'm guilty of missing people as well....I know it can be a huge task but it's always much appreciated to have comments on your shots & helps to keep you motivated when some theme's just don't seem to inspire.....

A big congrats to all of you still hanging on in here.....

Guilty as charged - I've had a whizz round this morning! It's amazing to see how many of us are still persevering and quite impressive to take an overview of our unique approaches, processing ideas and technical skillzz. Mandy

Guilty as charged - me too.
Will do tonight - but whilst I totally agree with the suggestions that we try and offer constructive criticism as well as praise - this does make the process more difficult. But worthwhile on both sides - I hope.

I'm off to Paris spoiling the mrs in approx 5 hours so a theme like 'tower' or 'French' would be great, thanks lol

I am still trying (and failing) to keep up with the threads I'm subscribed too:bonk: I was hoping to visit everyone else too but signal here is erratic! I can sometimes read posts but not see photos which is useful!

The theme is yours this week! Just about everything to see in the Louvre, or the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame to name but a few! Have a lovely time.

I'm hoping for a theme like muddy, rain, grey, clouds, miserable or damp! Saying that the sun actually shone today so managed some photos of my midgets outside!

Let's see if the new theme can bring some sunshine with it!

I have to say, I've not lost ANY enthusiasm for this yet, and still get very excited every Saturday morning. I usually have two or three ideas for each theme, though quite a few turn out to be too ambitious. I still have another idea for Pride that's got me quite excited on the one hand, and frustrated on the other because we haven't had the weather I need to shoot it!

I really do feel like I'm improving, but then as I've only had a DSLR since November, I'm probably still on the steep bit of the learning curve anyway.

I'd hate to see any of the remaining group drop out, because I'm finding your shots, comments and descriptions truly inspiring.

I've also not found the themes uninspiring, because I actually don't really think the theme matters too much. It's having a theme at all, which forces me to think about what I'm going to do and how to do it, that's helping me learn, not specifically what the theme is. I feel as if I could be given ANY word and use it to learn something. The results might be crap, but I WOULD learn :)

If there is a negative, it's that I'm not sure I could choose my own theme. I feel like I need to be assigned something, and wonder if I'd ever be able to come up with my own project like so many do so well?

Still hoping lust's going to come up soon though ;)

I've not lost my enthusiasm yet at the end of the day the challenge is doing what i wanted it to do, it makes sure i get my camera out at least once a week and photograph something, sometimes it may take a bit of effort to get the shot, others it will have to be literal and boring because of time constraints, but its still a shot, I do struggle to get round and comment every week, but try to get everyone at least every fortnight.

Hang on in there folks we're more than a third of the way through now!!

I think my problem is my enthusiasm is being drawn elsewhere! I am really wanting to learn how to take decent portraits, I'm slowly getting better results. I'm definitely not giving up here, I'm really learning a lot!

This weeks challenge us to visit all the 52's still in that I've not visited yet!

I'm not the only eager beaver then

I just posted my pride shot - go comment while you wait :p

I'm loitering too :)

And here I am in the van with 6 dogs on our way to the beach, but guess what camera and tripod have sneaked in

ok Marsha, you do it, we'll be right behind you

9.25 and no theme? Wazacurin?

Eyup Michael. Two eggs for please. No sausage :)

100% agree with this comment, Lizzy, it encapsulates my feelings entirely. If ever in doubt I shall come back to this quote.
