Photo52 2012 : Join In !!! : Week 52 Busy

I'd say my root shot was technically good but it was quite disliked for its yuk factor:lol: and everyone said that!

Summer I think you have taken the lions share on -ve comments! But you're still here

I have signatures on my phone and see them on every post!

Soft, I like it! I'm also in the 'lots of soft shots' group!
This theme will bring a huge variety I feel!

If you are not prepared to receive honest but polite negative feedback then you shouldn't be doing the challenge publicly IMO. I haven't seen anyone on the challenge being 'precious' about their photos but there is nothing wrong with responding with information as to why you did it that way or couldn't avoid 'xyz' ... that's the way to learn
"Brutal"? - Never necesary!

Apologies Gramps, 'brutal' wrong choice of word.
Constructive criticism is the order of the day I feel.
Now "soft" what to do:thinking:

I only want positive feedback....;)

Im with you all....say what you like and don't lik AND why.

A photograph can technically great but visual naff and vice versa.

Just reflect on the comments abduction learn.....but don't take a huff and leave...;)

Good luck all...

Ps...no 'soft' water ;)

Well said Andy.

Note to self: Don't post a soft misty water image or Andy will very very constructively criticise it

Just for clarity, is "I think you should find a new hobby" constructive? I think it is, but just want to check before I upset Andy ;)

lmao you guys crack me up

Hi all.

Not had a good week because i wanted to try to do something for Entrance with a bit of 'thought' But the thought did not come:(

I should have got something for the theme regardless - perhaps a lesson to be learned there- because I try not to look at and comment on other entries until I have done my own. So now I am behind on that as well and I am firmly of the view that I cannot expect comments on mine without contributing.

As to the type of comments, I don't mind what people say, barring abuse - but then I don't think that i have seen any abuse on the 52 threads. I don't mind 'Good shot' and i don't mind 'I don't like it' - just a bit more explanation in each case is often helpful. Again I understand the time that it takes to set out detailed comments - my typing is parc.- so if all you want to say is 'good' or 'bad', feel free. Not being looked at is worse:D

So I am obliged to you all for looking and commenting and i hope to be back on track this week

Same as you mate.

I wanted to try and do something creative for entrance and have now fallen behind :-( same for the commenting so Im about to do that now.

As for critique I always try to expand on my comments and rarely just put good / like it or not for me etc.

Hi all

SOFT...OMG.....:shrug:...only though so far is a selfie cos I must be soft in the head for doing 2 52's on the trot :bonk:

As for feedback....hmmm...any ,good or bad is welcome . I find it difficult to leave constructive feedback if I don't like a particular image as I'm not good enough on the technical side to comment . All images are subjective , majority are on theme( with a little crowbarring here n there - mine included) but I do like to leave some sort of comment as it can get quite dis-heartening to not get any comments on a shot .

If I have'nt popped in to your for a while I apologise been suffering with bugs & work over load but I will get there eventually

Good point Iain... I definitely want to receive Constructive Criticism, I want to improve my photography, and I gather those that are left in the 52 are in the same position, It's tough going, so if your still in it I think you mean to improve :)

I know it may seem hard to believe but i really am still in this, just massively behind, i intend to start my catch up very soon, sorry to everyone for not being involved much recently :(
Best wishes
Cliff

I'm not only finally up to date but I have even posted this weeks "Soft" photograph. :-) a week relaxing and waiting for Saturday.

Regarding the feedback,

I always expected people to be reasonably honest in their feedback. By this I mean that they would only say they liked something if they actually did (like it). As for the comments being constructive, I fully expected there to be people who weren't comfortable pointing out the negatives; people who would rather say nothing if they had nothing nice to say. I think what we have here is a mix of people; some are comfortable giving truly constructive feedback and they talk about both the good and bad in equal measures, some focus a little more on the negatives while others like to post comments that are more of the encouraging kind and like to focus on the good. We also have some who do a little bit of everything, depending on the situation and photographer. Hopefully, this means everyone will have the good and the bad pointed out to them every week, though not necessarily in equal measures.

Personally, when I post feedback, I'm much more comfortable critiquing technical bits like exposure, lighting, focus & sharpness rather than creative / artistic qualities such as composition and POV because they can be very subjective.

Well I've finally got upto date bar vice lol.

Regarding feedback, I love any feedback, short or long, bad or good.

I try my best to give constructive and honest feedback but if I'm honest im still very much an amateur, so forgive me if it's just ' I like this' etc....

Thanks

Matt

If you use Firefox just download the Auto Refresh add-on and you can sit back and let it do the refreshing for you
No, I'm using Safari on an iPad. That way I can take it to the loo with me and not miss the theme when it's posted!

Too much information? I'll get me coat.

Anyone got any lions I can borrow please?

Well as a safari to photograph some lions is out I will have to get thinking on this one ??

Got a few ideas will need some explanation though
